Vauxhall Omega Estate automatic 2.5 v6 CDX 1998 - Engine cutting out - O megan

I have an Omega estate, 1998 2.5CDX. - 140,000 almost trouble free miles. Now, once warm the engine is prone to cutting out and wont restart - suggestion is that fuel supply is interrupted. Engine turns over easily but wont fire. If allowed to cool down (say 20 mins) then engine starts as normal and runs quite smoothly until the next stoppage

I would think the crank/rpm sensor is faulty.Very common on these for cutting out and non start.It is located in the engine block ,next to the oil filter.Bit of a pig to change as the wiring runs under part of the inlet manifold.Best to just cut the old cable off and re-route it via an easier path.Also make sure you get the correct sensor .There are 2 types for this engine.One has rectangular plug,the other has a rounded end plug.hth
