Hello I have just purchased a 06 plate Mondeo Ghia X 2.0 Petrol 11,000 miles How do I reset the ECU Can i just remove the ECU fuse from the fuse box will that do the trick. Toyota Estima Estima 4 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I posted this request yesterday but it seems to have been deleted My Toyota estima import sometimes on first starting makes clunking noises until it finally starts then whitish smoke until it burns off (FUEL?) The car runs great ,and will stat every time without problem until it has sat overnight, no oil or overheating problems. Sometimes when I require more power the Engine warning light comes on then goes off again, Anyone have any ideas? -
Cruise control - new convert 18 May 2007 (Forum)
Just drove to Manchester Aiport and back - c300 mile round trip on M-ways - in my 320d. Cruise kept the 'swingometer' fuel consumption indicator on the right side of the 50 mpg mark than I can, and not having to apply pressure to the accelerator was more comfortable on my back (history of back problems). And it was a novelty. -
xantia XUD pump/ecu/key code 10 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I have just replaced the XUD lump in my series 2 Xantia. It came with a reco fuel pump which I was keen to use. Now I find out that it would appear that the pump is coded to the key/ECU as it objects to the new pump. All is fine if I temporarily wire the old pump back on. So.... how do I get the new pump to live happily with the exisiting key and ECU? -
4 x 4 options 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
After weighing up options suggested in my previous discussion on what vehicle to tow a one horse trailer and horse, I am now in a quandary as to what 4x4 diesel to buy. I want the smallest vehicle capable of towing a minimum of 1500kg, with the most economical fuel consumption, as I clock up a fair mileage. I have had conflicting reports about the Landrover Freelander, any feedback welcome! I have a budget of up to £8000. -
1995 BMW 318i starting problem 7 Mar 2007 (Forum)
This is an intermittant problem. I have tried changing the plugs and coil pack but to no avail. The tank has plenty of fuel and the battery is well charged. Sometimes it will start on the first turn but often it may take five or ten minutes of constant turning on and off before it fires up. Once going, the engine runs very well with no noises or misfiring. -

filling up 15 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Am i better off , doing as I currently do , fill up, drive 550 miles then when near empty fill up again, or fill half tank do 200 miles and then fill up - which is most economical. Finally why are the pumps so slow to dispense the fuel, the lorry diesel pumps are fine, obviously quicker, but why are normal pumps so slow -

Buying LPG car from auction 9 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I will be looking for a replacement vehicle in the next few months. I want to buy a dual fuel vehicle with a factory fitted LPG system. I want to attend a few auctions and see what availability and roughly what price they fetch, ideally the vehicle will be not more than 3 years old. I live in the Thames Valley , can anyone suggest which auctions to attend ? -
S/H Mondeo MK3 1.8-what to watch for? 5 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I'm going to be buying a Mondeo 1.8 MK3 Zetec in the next couple of weeks, and wondered if anyone had any useful tips on what to look for.... it will probably be a 51-52 plate with about 80k miles on it. HJ lists corroded rear brake pipes where they pass over the fuel tank - how do you check for that on a visual ? Ditto rear suspension bushes ... ? Anything else anyone know to look for ? -
306 hdi consumption 19 Sep 2006 (Forum)
My car seems to be using more fuel than it used to. I haven't done a proper check-brim to brim but after 70,000 miles of using this car it seems not as frugal as it used to be. It is regularly serviced, everything seems fine mechanically and the driving style has not changed. -
Accord Brakes 6 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Would this mean the brakes are 'binding' - not fully releasing? and if so I'm thinking this could be a factor in the poor fuel consuption. Would just getting the pads (& possibly disks) free this up or will it require further work? (warranty?) Car has done 35K so will be booking it in for a service anyway. -

Vectra codes 21 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Fault is that car goes in to limp home mode only on motorway. Switching off and on resets and car behaves normally for a while. Fuel filter and air filter have been changed. Air mass/temp sensor next perhaps? Perplexed. -

MAF Sensor on Golf + Rear Axel Beam 27 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I've been told by the garage that my 2000 Golf Gt TDi needs a new MAF sensor (regulates the air or fuel going into the engine). Does anyone know if this is easily doable? Also reasons why it'd need a new one? Also been told it needs a new Rear Axel Beam, is it normal for this just to wear down or would it have taken a knock to do it does anyone know.
