This is where I need some help. SLO is normally into this sort of thing. Anyway, her indoors has decided she wants a small car as a runabout. Now of all... -

New car dealers - numbered days 18 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Manufacturers will have much stronger control of after sales, warranty claims etc (a good thing), removing the more questionable dealers who drive a fair few threads on this forum, and ultimately cost sales to manufacturers. This is what VW boss Piech meant when he wanted VW to be the 'Apple' of automotive -

New car 12 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Both mine and husbands cars have decided to breakdown, I'm due to start maternity leave soon and can do without a car for a while (parents live close and I am insured on their cars). Husband drives a 2013 petrol Astra. He drives 300+miles a week for work. His astra has just hit over 100,000 miles and totally gave up. It might be worth fixing for me to run about in but he needs something that is a bit more economical to run and doesn't have as many problems doing a load of miles. -
Fiat 500 - Brake pads/disc replaced, brake pedal puff/hiss? 27 Jan 2020 (Forum)
1. What is the issue, did they not connect the brakes properly? 2. Is it dangerous to drive like this? 3. Can i expect them to fix it for the price I paid. It never made the noise before and as soon as worked on it has started. Please advise James -
12V Fridge without dual battery? 29 Oct 2019 (Forum)
If it only runs while you drive I can't see too much of a problem. Our car copes perfectly well running the caravan's fridge while we drive. The pins in the UK standard 13 pin car/'van connector it uses are only live when engine runs. -
Ford fiesta 2009 - Problem with gear Selection while driving 27 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Hey y'all So I have a Ford Fiesta 1.25 from 2009. On a trip back up north from London it became very difficult to change gears. Almost... -
Honda Jazz. - Help! Looking for new Automatic - opinions needed. 8 May 2019 (Forum)
It is Awful! Drove like a tank, no pickup at all. I got back in my '57 plate which is nippy and fun to drive and just knew I would not be buying another Honda automatic. Have you guys any suggestions? I am thinking about the Toyota Yaris, possibly the hybrid? I want something light and nippy and fun to drive. -
VW Polo2012 - Headlights 4 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Why would the alternator, presumably, surge in voltage if a bulb fails? 2. Isn't this a bad design failing, especially if one were driving in a rural area at night? Another interesting point is that the car runs the headlights during daytime and the service record repeatedly shows headlamp changes. -
Vauxhall Astra J - Steering feels light 9 Feb 2019 (Forum)
And certain points throughout my journey, my steering feels very light almost towards the point that I feel like I am driving on ice. Admittedly the car has not misbehaved in terms of spinning or sliding however I do not feel comfortable driving the car when the steering is so light. Last week I had two brand new front tyres put on and the wheels aligned as I felt this may be causing the issue. -

Ford Focus 1.6 Powershift - Powershift Outstanding Field Service Action 25 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I was briefly told about the Powershift transmission, I mean they didn't mention the issues with it of course but afterwards I have seen that there are wide spread issues with this transmission. I am used to driving an automatic but I cannot say I notice any difference when driving the car but I put my registration into the Ford recall website and it said the following. Outstanding Field Service Actions 14M02 - TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE I believe this is just an extended warranty on the transmission but regardless, I am pretty worried about the car now. -
Mini JCW F56 2017 - Frail paint on Mini F56 costing me monthly repairs 8 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I love my Mini but the paint is so brittle and delicate that after every long drive I’m finding dents, scratches and chips. The main dealer and head office do not want to know. My first drive home 4 miles and my bonnet was chipped. My old E39 BMW 530i from new and 120,000 miles later still looked dashing. -
Kia Niro v Skoda Octavia - Help choosing 15 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Economy wise, I don't think the Hybrid Niro would have any significant advantage over the Octavia for general urban/town driving but it did feel like a more comfortable ride. Does anyone have any informed advice on what they think may be the better choice!!?? -
Any - New MOT – May 2018 7 May 2018 (Forum)
I read an article that said that if your car failed the MOT after introduction of the revised MOT in two weeks you will not be able to drive it away for any reason whatsoever even if there is a month on the old certificate. Does this mean that you cannot drive it either home or to another garage for repair, even if only a short distance is involved? -
Honda/Nissan/Kia/Skoda - Is an Automatic box worth it? 31 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Who do I believe? I read that CVTs are the best for my driving, so with my budget and car type it’s a Toyota, Honda or Nissan. Then some CVTs are better than others..... It just seems like I’ll end up buying a manual...... with a soft clutch... -
Any... - Small 4WD 11 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Used to run a Yeti which would be fine for us except comparatively large, as is its successor. SWBO likes a high driving position which is a problem if looking for genuinely small cars. Tending towards the Panda as the best compromise. Any bright ideas out there from the HJ think tank? Thank you all...... -
* - Visibility/Positioning of instruments 14 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Secondly the other instrument that is really bad for taking ones attention from the road is the GPS screen, why is this not always mounted high up rather than down by the gear stick? I really am not very impressed with modern car designers who I believe do not own or drive their own cars so have no idea of the real driving world. -
Attitude Problem 9 Sep 2017 (Forum)
So I followed her round the car park and when she got out I said 'no need to give me hand signals because you're using a phone while driving darling' and she said 'oh f*** off you t***.' Nice.
