Engine failure TWICE - Peugeot 306DT 23 Feb 2005 (Forum)
In September 2001, whilst on the A1 motorway, a con rod shot through the side of the engine. The car had only done 45,000 miles. Neither the garage or Peugeot accepted any liability, the latter stating the car was ?too old?. The car was subsequently repaired at own cost. The garage replaced the engine with a second-hand one, as I could not afford a brand new one. -
Berlingo/Pug Partner Reliability 2 Dec 2002 (Forum)
I'm not able to respond to the specific question here, but instead, have a question about Citroen and Peugeot in general. I, at present, have a Yaris and because it's a Toyota don't have any great concern re. reliability. I've been looking at the correspondence about the new Berlingo/Peugeot Partner and am well aware of the comments and experiences regarding French versus Japanese. -
Citroen Berlingo - Electric only 9 Jan 2022 (Forum)
I read that Stellantis have stopped selling the Berlingo and Peugeot Rifter as well as the Vauxhall combo as ICE in the UK unless it is a converted one for mobility sales. Manufacturers are quickly withdrawing from the traditional market. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/business-tech%2C-development-and-manufacturing/stellantis-axes-combustion-mpvs-uk-built-ev I note the Passat saloon is gone too. -

Ford Transit - CCTV In Your Cars or vans 25 Jun 2017 (Forum)
I know you can buy a lot of cheap dash cams but I'm thinking all four sides and an internal cam for if it has broken into as my Peugeot partner gets broken into at least 2-3 times a year. -
any - Cat D Cars and insurance 15 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Just wondering how insurance companies generally view Cat D repaired cars and if they load premiums accordingly. Having seen a Peugeot 208 cat D repair car for sale at a good price I began to think if buying one is a good a deal as it might seem. Anyone any experience of buying/owning one and if so did you have problems with getting a reasonable insurance quote? -
Developing new engines 15 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Despite their much larger sales volume, Ford couldn't afford to develop new diesels on their own so had to enter a joint arrangement with Peugeot Citroen. What's changed with engine development economics that allows JLR and Volvo to do it on low volumes when Ford couldn't do it on high volumes ? -
What car? 21 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I am replacing my increasingly unreliable Peugeot 407 sw (HDi) and have a budget of £11k. I'm looking for a 2l diesel estate with a 6 speed box, less than 40k miles and decent spec. I'd rather steer clear of anything french or using the PSA 136bhp engine or low powered diesels. -
Peugot 206 - Clutch won't disengage 18 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi all I have a 1.1 litre peugeot 206 and had it parked off road for 5 weeks while on holiday. i've gotten back and my starter motor and battery were working, but my clutch was very stiff. While I can change the gears, the clutch won't pull out all the way and I cannot pull off. -
Cars and Stripes 10 Oct 2007 (Forum)
The cars are usually blue, the stripes usually white. I've seen it on lots of Minis but it doesn't seem to be model specific (also Focii, Peugeots etc). Was it the Italian Job remake (which I never saw)? A new version of Starsky & Hutch that I've missed? Or just a fashion statement, like a Mullet haircut? Paul -
206 - Central locking control unit ?? 26 Jul 2007 (Forum)
2001 - Peugeot 206 1.1 3dr Hatchback I've been told these cars suffer from problems with the Central Locking Control unit if they get wet. I've had problems with mine on & off, not locking. But all doors will lock with the key in lock, but not remote and the Display always states one door left open, even when its not been opened. -
Small cars 25 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I sometimes see reviews of say Peugeot 207, and think that I wouldn't mind one, but then to see it in the flesh, looks so cramped and undersized (though they are bigger than the outgoing generation) next to my large saloon. Now I understand that we live in an overcrowded country full of undersized parking spaces, narrow roads, and small cars are also cheaper to buy and run, if that's a concern, but is there anybody that really *likes* them, other than as a consequence of our undersized nation? -
Uncomfortable driving position 10 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I drive 30,000miles a year mainly on motorways on my weekly commute between Worthing and Birmingham. The driving position on my Peugeot 607 is really now beginning to cause me problems. I have tried all of the seat adjustments but my backside seems to be sinking into the apex of the seat, it appears to be getting worse over time. -
Pug 407 - Cambelt Change at 160k miles? 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I have a Peugeot 407 2.0 HDI, the handbook refers to dealer for cambelt change intervals. The car has done 57k, and I am told by my local dealer that the change is due at 160k miles. This seems very high, and I would like to hear from any views on the forum as to known failures as I am aware this engine is also used in some Fords. -
Air Bag & MOT 11 Oct 2006 (Forum)
My 1997 Peugeot 306 has a fault where the airbag light often flashes on - but it's intermittent and I am reliably told usually caused by a dodgy wire connection somewhere under the front seat. I will get around to looking at it one day, but in the meantime - is this an MOT failure? -
2007 Car of the Year 10 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Shall we 'the real experts' have a vote before then and give a reason why. Citroën C4 Picasso, Fiat Grande Punto, Ford S-Max, Honda Civic, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, Peugeot 207, Skoda Roomster and Volvo C30. As much as I would like to say Civic I think the S max should win it for combining practicality and driving experience. -
UK car industry 18 May 2006 (Forum)
Peugeot are closing shop, rumour on the street in Germany is that Renault and BMW are looking for a place to relocate Nissan and Mini on mainland Europe ,Ford are saying if Land Rover does not improve its curtains and Jaguar are losing money hand over fist. The UK government tried to keep the PSA closure a secret till after the local elections but it was released in both the French and German press.Do you think we will be making cars in ten years I wonder. -
XUD Engine - timing belt/tappets 5 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I've the 1.8 Peugeot engine in my Turbo Rover 218 & I'm about to change the timing belt - do I need to change the tensioner as a matter of course? Also, I want to deal with a noisy tappet. Some folks tell me they are hydraulic whereas my Haynes say I'm in for hours of measuring and shim replacements. -
Pug 306 steering issue 21 Sep 2004 (Forum)
My 1994 Peugeot 306 xtdt has a problem with steering at slow speeds (ie parking) When you go full lock to the left, upon trying to centre the steering there is sometimes a highly increased resistance. You then feel a pronounced knock and the steering returns to normal. -
