VW Corrado - Driving without indicators 20 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I am reduced to trawling ebay and various forums for replacements, however the question is : can I drive the car legally without the front indicators? I have googled but can't find anything conclusive. Regards, DougB. -
Honda - Changing drive belts on scooters 13 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I am trying to change a drive belt on a scooter, and the manual states that a 'rotor locking tool' should be used. I cannot find a picture of this, and hence I am not sure how this item looks 'in the flesh'! Can anyone advice me on this task? -
Buying a car on SORN, how to tax it to drive home? 11 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I'm bidding on a car on Ebay about 50 miles away which is currently on SORN. If I win it I will need to tax it to drive home but how? If I change my insurance to it I won't have a new certificate for a week or two and presumably the current owner has changed his insurance to a new vehicle so won't be able to help? Is there a way round this? -
Driving after a cataract operation 20 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Unfortunately it didn't occur to me at the time to ask the optician so ............ how long after a cataract operation do you normally have to wait before you can drive again? -
Could you drive across a ploughed field? 8 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Just passed a newly-ploughed field, and very nice it looked, too, in an earthy sort of way. Got me wondering what vehicle could drive across it? Bear in mind the furrows (agricultural term, that) were quite deep and the sods (another one) were quite large. I reckon anything short of an agricultural tractor would struggle. Land Rover with chunky tyres, perhaps? -
BMW 3-Series E36 conv (1994 - 2000) - 318 - logisitics of driving. 17 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Just wondering the logistics of being able to drive an E36 convertible, 318, so only 115bhp. Thats the same power as a Focus 1.6. 20 with 2 years no claims and no convictions whatsoever. Only thing is insurance group 14 - i got a quote for a 90s MX-5 which is of a similar classification and that wasn't too bad....what are the opinions? -

Driving damaged cars 24 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Do the companies who repair damaged cars on behalf of insurers have the right to drive these damaged cars to their workshop (even when the cars are in a drivable condition) without notifying the owner of the car that this is their intention? Most people would assume that they put a damaged car on a truck to take it to the workshop. -
Driving in Northern Ireland 17 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Not much traffic; great roads, many with long straights for easy overtaking; good driving habits (eg little or no tailgating, ditto aggression); fine scenery. No speed cameras (as far as I could tell), though a few camera warning signs. Didn't see a cop outside Belfast (though each town had its heavily fortified cop-shop), apart from what appeared to be one traffic patrol car on an emergency. -
Popping & banging Fiesta 13 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I can't find any leaks around the exhaust pipe, it recently had both Lamba sensors recently & it drives fine but the poping persists. Could this be because it's out of tune or something more techinical or just something simple? -- Its not what you drive, its how you drive it! :-) -

I am changing the right outer booth on the drive shaft of my zx 95 stationwagon 1.8. I just wonder how to draw it from the gearbox? It yokes back and forth about 50 mm. But I can't get it to let go. Do you have a picture from the repair manual and/or text describing the howto instruction? -
oi, that's my bit of road! 19 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Is it a general sign of people who shouldn't be let out on their own or are we phasing in driving on the right? JH -
Transit with Durashift 16 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I own a Motorcaravan based on the Ford Transit and am thinking of changing it for a newer model equipped with the Ford Durashift automatic transmission. What I would like to know about is other peoples impressions of driving such a vehicle, for example, is the gear change smooth, how reliable has it been, any problems noticed when driving and especially how does it perform on really steep hill starts? Any actual driving experiences would be most welcome. -
Driving an unisured car on your Ins. 3 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Is correct you can drive an uninsured car on your Comprehensive policy providing it has an MOT and Tax, and it will only cover third party. Would this also cover fire and theft. A friend who's car is off the road for major repairs, has been offered an uninsured car to use while his is being repaired. -
Ok to drive with no bumper? 23 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I'll be doing a bit of DIY on the rear of my car, and it would be convenient to leave the rear bumper off whilst continuing to drive the car. Will I be contravening the Construction and Use regulations in any way? Neither the number plate nor any lights are incorporated in the bumper, by the way. What about the insurance situation should I be hit from behind? -
Reversing method 18 Mar 2006 (Forum)
The saga of my daughter's driving continues. She failed her second driving test this week. Going forward, she's a competent enough driver to pass. But her reversing isn't good. As this saga has been going on through 18 months of lessons it's becoming an expensive problem and living in Northern Scotland, with its dearth of public transport, we really need her to be able to drive. -
Left Hand Drive Car 26 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, Got a car which is left hand drive, which could come over to the UK to be registered and used. It uses LPG already so almost makes sense as the conversion has already been done, and the cost of LPG in our area is still around 39p/l. -
