Nissan Almera 2003 - No way to unlock my car when battery failed 14 Apr 2020 (Forum)
With a set of jump leads in the boot I thought now problem. Until I realised the is no way to get into the car as it has no manual key locks. I search the net and people spoke about one on the passenger door. But not on this model. There is no hole or cover. In the end I have to undo the back windows using a piece of metal and climb into the window as the door won't even open with a pull handle on the inside. -
Skoda Octavia DSG diesel 2010 - VW DSG box spigot bearing failed 10 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I have had a massive bill for a DSG box rebuild about 1000 miles after having the mechatronic board changed on the same car by a main dealer. The car is covered by a Warranty Direct warranty but they have refused to pay out saying the spigot bearing failing is 'wear and tear'. The car has done over 100,000 miles. I am inviting views on: 1. -
Ford Mondeo Estate mk 4 2.0 tdci - rumbling noise on tickover and low revs 7 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Hi I could do with some likely causes for this issue as its really annoying. car is ex police with full service history. when you start it there is a low pitched rumbling sound from the right hand side of engine when sitting in car (the timing belt end) or chain? it sounds to me like some belt cover or pulley is touching something at low revs as when you drive the car it is sound just when you stat it and blip the throttle. -
Any - Radio Caroline on 648 kHz 25 Dec 2017 (Forum)
If you enjoy listening to radio that's a bit different you may-well like to give them a listen. If you've still got a car radio that covers the AM Medium Wave then you could listen in your car (Car related connection added!) Reception reports are very welcome: http://radiocaroline.co.uk/#am_reception.html -
FIAT 500 - Rattle/clunk from driver side wheel 5 Apr 2017 (Forum)
Is this likely to be covered under warranty? And is the car safe to drive until I can get it to the dealer? Thanks a lot, I'm not too clued up with cars! -

Suzuki Swift Sport - Coolant Loss 11 Oct 2015 (Forum)
The car has now covered a total of 300 miles. If this coolant loss happens agian what is my best course of action, do I allow the dealership to investigate or do I reject the car outright as faulty. -
Subaru Forester - Winter Warmer 1 Dec 2012 (Forum)
My wife wife finds it infuriating that the doors will often be frozen shut, and the screen/windows covered in solid ice. A perfect solution would be some kind of heater (car specific), which plugs into the mains, that runs on a timer, which will kick in at a preset time and warm the cars interior before the school run. -
Ford Focus Hatchback 1.6 Zetec Manual. 2008. - Focus Baulk Rings 20 Oct 2012 (Forum)
(Sometimes it will not go into 3rd! Can you tell me if this is a known problem with this car? The garage have told me that i will probably have to pay for this to be repaired as they do not think that the extended 3 year RAC warranty i purchased for £499 will cover this problem! -
Ford Focus 5dr hatch 2006 '56' reg - Roof rail fixing points - please help! 8 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I have just purchased a new roof box complete with rails and all fixings to fit this specific vehicle. On removing the 4 thin plastic strips covering the fixing points on the car it appears there are no tapped holes (as should be the case according to the roof rail manufacturer?) I have just asked a friend who has the same car in case Ford had missed drilling mine but he says his is the same? -

Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 04 1.4 TDCI engine - smell of fumes entering car 22 Jan 2010 (Forum)
My dad has a 2004 Fiesta van 1.4 TDCI which has covered around 45K miles. It is regularly serviced and passed its MOT recently. He is complaining of fumes entering the cabin through the vents constantly, even when he is not following another vehicle. There is also a strong fume smell when he gets in the car when it has been parked up before even starting the engine. -
Cars that will give 5-6 years "no hassle" use? 30 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Issues with various Vauxhall models are legion, and I even recently saw a comment about a Lexus which had destroyed its clutch and Lexus were being unhelpful. For our family, I like to buy cars new (or very nearly new) and keep them for 5-6 years, covering perhaps 50-60K miles. I'll pay for dealer servicing, tyres etc, but I don't expect to have anything go wrong. Is there a brand which is considered "bomb-proof"? -
Car as home extension 22 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Made me think: how many BR's cars are similarly and maybe needlessly cluttered? And at what extra weight! I guess most men don't have same need to carry "things" - or is that sexist to say these days? Best I can admit to is an extra coat, in the boot. -
used car warranty...how reliable? 29 May 2007 (Forum)
Ive only just discovered some companies that offer warranties on older high millage cars (i didnt know they existed) so im after some more info on them I have a 306 hdi (2001) with 177,000 on the clock. I got a quote for £170 which i didnt think was bad for 12 months. The list of what is covered and what isnt is quite specific but i wanted to know how these companies work? -
Insurance 28 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I'm fully comp and covered for light business use. As I have never made a claim before, what are the norms when it comes to things stolen from cars. Everything was locked in the boot. Oh and they have knackered the lock and door handle so I can't lock it. -
Fuel economy on new car 17 Mar 2006 (Forum)
However, on my rough calculations we are only getting approx 28mpg and yet we are driving very sedately at the moment. I'm aware that on new cars, they are not fully economical and takes time for the engine to bed down before becoming more economical. However, this does seems to be a remarkable low fuel economy rate. How many miles does diesel engines needs to cover before they become more economical? -
Cleaning sick from seats 8 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I am sure this has been covered before but can't find it searching. Son was sick in car yesterday (typically after 5 hours driving he was sick a mile from the house). As soon as I got back I cleaned seat with baby wipes, then used car upholstery foamer cleaner but today seat still has sick smell on it. -
Transportation of broken down car 14 Feb 2005 (Forum)
My car lost most of its coolant - probably via the head gasket - the other night. RAC recovered it to my house as it was late and only a mile away. Unfortunately, my level of cover does not extend to recovery beyond a 10 mile radius. -
Clever idea. 26 Sep 2003 (Forum)
A while back, we had a thread about 'things to keep in the car'. Rather than regurgitate that one, I thought I'd post this, as it seems good advice to me... It comes from a local site, where people asked "is it safe to put XXX oil in my car when it needs a top up?"
