  Im not entirely sure of the year of manufacture however the car is a vauxhall astra (v reg) 1.6 16v auto. The problem i am having is that for that past 2 months of having the car the power steering has intermittently gone off and come back on again whilst driving at no particular time, Now the steering has completely failed and has given me a constant battery light on the dashboard, a funny thing is that when this happened i turned on the fans which made the battery light go off and let the power steering work again for about 2 minutes now it doesnt work at all.

  hi to all and thanks in advance for your replys. i've got a 307 hdi 110 52 reg, and its not got much power like the turbos not kicking i need your help, i've checked all the inter cooler pipes and also checked the turbo at a big struggle!! and they all seem fine. and today when the misses went to drive it, it went into limp home mode but the engine light didnt come on which was strange, she turned it on and off 3 or 4 times and away it went again. we had it in about 2weeks ago to have the fuel addative reset and the bloke said there were some codes in it which were 1435, 1442, 1446 which wouldn clear. any help would be v much apperciated.

  Whatcar have carried out a study (read it at whatcar.co.uk) on Superfuels which concludes many of them do nothing in terms of mpg and acceleration times. Looking at the results for a 1.6 Focus, Total and Esso 97 octane fuels come out above Shell V power for improvements in acceleration....which is what I found when I switched from shell to total... Worth a look anyway....
