  • MINI Clubman - Dealers selling privately 29 Dec 2023 (Forum)
Hi All, I recently needed a run around vehicle whilst my car was off road. I used gumtree and found a mini listed under a private sale. he stated the timing chain had been done and a full service history with the last being done by a mini specialist nearby.    I bought the car and within a week it started having issues.
  • MINI Cooper S - Should I have to pay to replace my sunroof? 18 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Could I expect MINI to pay for the whole lot? Car is a 2007 model and in good condition, but I feel these parts are not fit for purpose if they seize up after just four years requiring such major replacements.
  • MINI MINI One R50 (2001 - 2007) - 06 1.6 Con Rod Failure 16 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Hello all, new user here. My wife has owned a Mini One Convertible for just over two years. Bought from a main dealer with 14k miles and FSH. Serviced by them since and now has 26k miles. The car goes to and from the kids schools, shops etc - usual local mileage, no racing, mods or anything silly.

  • Rare Enough to Flash? 9 Mar 2005 (Forum)
The "shapes that last" thread mentioned that Espace drivers used to flash each other when they were rare. I've only ever had a Mini where this was done, and it was an enjoyable time of raod brotherhood - the kids loved it. Do MINI owners do it now? Do any other cars' owners consider themselves 'a cut above' in this way?
  • Luxury cars 8 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Bums can probably be parked on analine leather, marvel can be had at contrast piping or stitching, and a feeling of one upmanship can be had over the poverty spec version with fabric seats and single slot CD. All of this can make a most comfortable car to live with, even as the "mini" sector car that prompted this thread, but none of it makes a luxury car any more than Sainsbury's can ever sell a luxury hamper. So, by my definition a mini luxury car is an oxymoron. Mini cars, yes, very comfortable and well appointed mini cars, yes, mini cars that will please you and I, yes, but luxury mini cars, no.
  • BMW Mini One 2008 - Boot switch not working 10 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Our 2008 Mini boot switch seems to have stopped working. The boot can still be opened with the keyfob and the latch can be seem to work when using the keyfob. I guess the boot switch has just failed (the number plate lights in the assembly are still working so power is getting there) The only thing is, the switch itself is sealed into the strip assembly, with plastic welded edges and a sealed rubber switch cover, which is good sense for waterproofing but means repair is tricky!
  • MINI One - Broken Aerial Cable 29 Oct 2020 (Forum)
Hello  Car: Mini One R50 04' Reg Issue: the Aerial cable coming from behind the dashboard has snapped off, it's just a black wire now with some copper sticking out of it. I am trying to order a replacement Wave stereo (the original) as the previous owner had a halfords system.
  • MINI one - Engine cutting out 23 Feb 2018 (Forum)
My neighbour has a MINI one - (petrol)  and has owned it about 1 year from new in 2013.  From day one since she had it she complained that it cuts out when stopping at junctions and lights, also  occasionally when driving slowly in traffic and soon after pulling away from slowing..

  • Mini Cooper R56 Dec 2006 - Electric Wing Mirrors Fault 15 Jul 2014 (Forum)
Hi, I have Dec 2006 R56 Mini Cooper.  Recently I had to replace Window Regulator on Driver Side.  However since it has been replaced neither of the electric mirrors work.  I have checked all fuses and all appear ok.
  • Audi A6 TDI & Mini R60 Turbo Diesel Countryman - Engine start and stop procedure for Diesel engines 27 Aug 2012 (Forum)
As a first time user of Turbo Diesel Engine cars I seek advice. I have recently bought an Audi A6 TDI  Quattro & Mini R60 Turbo Diesel Countryman and would like to know the correct procedure so that I don't mess up the cars.
  • Morris Mini 1963 - Ignition Light not working 28 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I have changed my mini from a dynamo to an alternator, following the instructions carefully. I did this (partly) because when I connected the car up to a battery charger to test the lights etc (the car has been off the road for two years) smoke started coming from the dynamo and the ignition light glowed brightly, even though the ignition switch was 'off'.
  • Special oil developed for original Mini.. 15 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Anyway, do you remember the first time you cracked open a can of Q20w-50? the colour and smell -I seems to remember it was developed with the Mini`s engine oil sharing gearbox in mind? Happy days ;-) I used nothing else for years and then moved on to Duckhams 15w40 for later cars. I wonder why the brand name seems to have more or less faded away?
  • MINI Cooper S R53 (2002 - 2007) - engineering analysis 11 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Don't laugh, this is serious. Engineers are checking out a potential problem with the Mini Cooper S after complaints in the USA about leg burns caused by the car's hot exhaust pipes. America's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been called in following 28 complaints by customers who have bought 2007-2008 model year cars which have dual exhaust pipes that protrude beyond the car's rear bumper.
  • Mini One - Joke lasts about 5 minutes 28 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I realise I'm about five years late posting this but having just driven a Mini One from London to Manchester, I've got to ask what was that all about? Handling no better than any decent small car. Performance decidedly lacklustre and fuel efficiency nothing special and being inside the thing made me feel like I was at a family party where one of the children does a magic trick - initially quite charming, but two minutes in and the grin is becoming a little fixed and after five minutes you're thinking "don't milk it sonny".
  • Modifications and insurance 7 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I am now aware of a real life example of why you should. I've just seen a colleague parking up in a different car to her Mini. I thought she had changed, but the Mini is in for repair following an accident involving a rottweiller, her car and a dry stone wall! The dog survived untouched, the wall took minor damage, the car is a mess.
  • Mini pistons and rings. 13 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Here\'s a subject that will have most of you racking your brains. I race a Class 1 Mini in autograss, and have just recently detonated 1 of a new set of 4 pistons.A nice little hole has appeared in the top,and to say I\'m mighty fed up would be an understatement. I am therefore looking for 1 new piston to replace this.Easy, you may say.Wrong.The piston is an oversize 60 piston for a 998cc car, with 3 rings on it.I have scoured far and wide to get a replacement, but they are like hens teeth. There is a part number on the top which is JP0524A,and no-one seems to be able to help.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 04 2.0 TDCI - Ciggi lighter not working. 15 May 2008 (Forum)
Hi, The cigar lighter on the aforementioned car isn't working. I put in a 15amp mini blade fuse, however although all the rest of the blades are mini blades the gap for the cigar blade is bigger. I tried to put a standard fuse in but it just wouldn't go. It looks as if there is 3 holes for the fuse to go but i have never seen nor heard of a three bladed fuse.
