  • Moving Abroad - Gap in Insurance 3 May 2011 (Forum)
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - had a go on the search facility, but didn't immediately find anything. I am heading abroad with work for about three years.  I am unlikely to drive while I am over there, as a driver is provided.  Before heading off, I plan to sell my car and cancel my car insurance.  However, when I get back, I shall want to buy a car and start driving again.
  • Other party has insurance but expired CBT 7 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I was hit by someone driving a 125cc bike, he admits fault and is insured but I have found out (from his mum) that he has an expired CBT.  What is the likely outcome of this? A) I end up having to claim through my insurance B) His insurance pays and tries to recover costs from him C) It rains for 40 days and 40 nights and unicorns become extinct   This happened to me today, police were called and he had to goto hospital my car was deemed unsafe to drive as the rear window was smashed and 'recovered' to a garage.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 03 TDCi Glow lamp indicator has come on. 29 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I have a 2003 Mondeo TDCi 2.0. After 70,000 miles of trouble free driving I was motoring back from the airport last night and shortly after filling the fuel tank was driving along when the engine cut out and the Glow lamp indicator started flashing. Pulled over onto shoulder turned the ignition off then on and it restarted.
  • Ford Focus Est 1.8 tddi 2000 - Ford Focus Vibrating/Shaking 4 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I wonder if any one has any idea what is causing my focus to shake when driving over 60 mph. The shaking is felt through the seat/body and not the steering wheel, it makes driving higher than 70mph unbearable. The shaking will stop if i take my foot off the accelerator or put my foot down on the clutch.
  • Any - Holding the car on the clutch on gradients 3 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Every morning there are several drivers holding the car on the gradient using the clutch.   They are not driving autoboxes as they don't have brake lights on, and the cars often roll backward a little before trickling forward again -- which they wouldn't do if they were autoboxes in 'Drive'.   Seeing this got me thinking about DMFs and failure rates.
  • Toyota Corolla and Verso (2002 - 2007) - 2002 1.8 driveshaft noise? 4 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Is there anything else the noise could be? Any sugestions? If it is a drive shaft how can I tell which one it is? I don't want to replace both, at estimate £300 each, unless I have to. s
  • Toyota/RAV4 - European Insurance 15 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I own a house in the UK. I have just bought a 2007 RAV4 which is registered in Malta and I want to drive it back to the UK via Italy and France and stay for 3 months - to sort out some family matters, driving back to Malta in March 2011. I can insure the car comprehensively with Maltese companies but I am having great difficulty obtaining insurance cover other than 3rd party-only for the journey and stay in England.
  • KIA Sportage - Water in Fuel Filter Light occaisonally comes on 17 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I drive a 2007 2.0 diesel Sportage. 5000 miles / 4 months ago the water in fuel filter light started coming on occaisionally. I took it to the dealer who drained the fuel filter  (he said he could tell whether there was water in it or not).
  • Chrysler Voyager (1997 - 2001) - 97 3.0 auto transmission problems 2 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Wonder if anyone can help with my Grand Voyager problem - the car is in drive, but when the accelerator is pressed the engine revs but the car doesn't move. Then suddenly it may lurch forward but then stop again and the engine revs again. It reminds me of a slipping clutch on a manual.
  • Any Make or Model - Owners Reviews 12 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I understand the suspension is quite hard - reliability seems to be OK and the car should be fun to drive.  Also it would hopefully be suitable for my daughter to learn to drive in and cheap to run.  Thanks to everyone who responds.
  • corsa sxi 1.2 c - corsa sxi 1.2 help please 27 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Hi ppl, just bought a corsa sxi1.2,     I have been driving it now for 3 weeks now and it has just started to make a tapping noise very much like a diesel, I have changed the oil and filter ( oil crap and filter worse). • Secret motoring desires.... 18 Mar 2010 (Forum)
But suddenly you have a hankering for a frivolous car, something quirky or minimal - something you've always had a desire to own but wouldn't want to drive every day (well, you probably wouldn't want to drive a Cobra 427 every day, but you know what I mean) What is your secret motoring desire, one that might make your petrolhead friends think you're crazy?
  • Nissan X-Trail - MOT & service issues 16 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I don't expect a pair of rear shocks to be going home after 44k and 5 years of looked after driving.
  • Volkswagen Passat (2005 - ) - 06 2.0 millers diesel sport 4 17 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Have used twice in 2 tank fulls at double dose as instructions allow. I am now getting a headache whilst driving the car. I am a taxi driver and spend up to 10hrs per day driving which results in a thumping head at the end of the day. Any ideas what this stuff has done to my car. p.s. The exhaust is fine with no leaks.
  • New driver question. 15 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could clear up a few things about a new to be driver? My son is 16 and will be 17 in May. He has the promise of a job if he passes his driving test for a car before July. He is on the road on a 50cc moped at the moment to get a bit of road knowledge. I have undertaken a booking for a week of driving lessons when he is 17. Would he be able to sit his car theory test before he is 17?
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 03 2.0 fuel filter hoses, are they on correctly? 2 Feb 2010 (Forum)
my 03 tdci 130 mondeos fuel filter pipes might be crossed, the middle outlet on the filter, with the arrow pointing out, has a hose coming from the tank, the outer outlet, with arrow pointing in, is going to the fuel rail. I had an identical mondeo with the opposite, and it drives perfectly, this one has the glow plug light flashing, and is hard to start, even when i do manage to start it, it drives well, but underpowered. I will change the fuel filter and add some injector cleaner to it, but would the hoses being on the wrong way cause these symptoms?

  • How cheap is cheap? 21 Jan 2010 (Forum)
After years of scootering, I'm going back to the warmth and dryness of a car. I'll be using it 1-2x a week at 35miles a pop, on my own mostly. I used to drive an N reg Corsa 1.4 for about 6 years, and it served me well. I'd probably look for something of a similar size again. Looks/cool factor aren't that important, reliability and economy are. Of course, I want to spend as little as possible, but not so little I drive away with a pile of rust.
  • Short Term Insurance for a Non-Resident 15 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I lived in Israel for the last 20 years and I presume my UK driving license (if I could find it) would no longer be valid. I?m coming over to England to stay with my father, while my sister and family take a well-deserved break over Christmas and New Year and want to arrange temporary insurance for me to drive her car.
  • Sourcing and exporting a LHD car. 30 Nov 2009 (Forum)
No problem getting it there, he comes to the UK regularly and I go there often so one of us could drive it or we could even work it so he comes here and we travel back together and split the driving. Curious to know if anyone else has looked into this ?
