Daewoo Lanos (1997 - 2002 ) - ABS defective 8 Oct 2007 (Forum)
My friends Lanos 1.6 T reg exhibited a loud squealing noise when she drove it, which finally ended with a 'clunk' & then she felt the car lost power & also the ABS light came on. The RAC man said it was a problem with the brakes, so I checked & yes it needed new discs & pads. I did the job, brakes & power fine but the ABS light is still on. I also noticed that the ABS sensors on the hubs looked like they were set right in, so much so that they had worn the sensor teeth on the CV joint. -

inconsiderate pulling out 14 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Obviously just dropped the kids off, a old toyota people carrier pulls out right in front of me, dangerously in my opinion, and he/she doenst make much of an effort to get up to speed, causing me to brake , . I flashed to indicate my displeasure. Then, they applied the brakes and pointed to the 30 sign! I was astounded that they do something wrong and then make out im speeding. Honestly. They then stopped and let everyone out. -
Corroded disks 27 Aug 2006 (Forum)
When they are replaced I expect them to stay corrosion free until they get wet. Staying on the subjet of brakes: Do you change the fluid when it is 2 years old, when the lowering of its boiling point indicated the presence of water, or both? My relpy is: When it boils to soon. -

VW Polo 1.6CL Engine Problem 25 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Any ideas what it could be? The brakes are due a change, but I would be seriously suspicious if they have some kind of warning system on them that activates them for a millisecond (which is the feeling it gives). Thanks in advance. -

Megane MOT Woes 5 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Dropped my megane of for its MOT last monday, running pretty much perfectly apart from slightly spongy feeling brakes. MOT failed because the brake compensator was jammed and emmisions were too rich. To rectify the emissions they replaced the O2 sensor. Since collecting the car I've had to top up the radiator twice in 7 days (never had to do this in 7 years), returned to the garage today to get them to rectify what I felt they must have broke (pipe burst\loose). -
Sailing Dingies 18 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I was motoring through the Cotswolds in the early 1980s, in a company Cortina. You know the sort, disc brakes but no servo. The weather was too beautiful, apple blossom everywhere; quite delightful. Red light ahead, so I start to pull up behind the car in front; suddenly realise that it is towing a sailing dingy with mast horizontal and pointing my way. -

Disputed MOT 16 Nov 2003 (Forum)
My Galaxy failed its MOT yesterday at the local Ford main dealer ("significant braking effort recorded on all 4 road wheels even though brakes are not applied") - which I thought was a load of bull as I'd have noticed it in everyday use, plus the computer would have shown increasing fuel consumption. -

Oh no!!! Not more Astra problems?..... 7 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hi, Have just found that the brake lights and reverse lights on my Astra have stopped working. Tried changing a bulb or two, but makes no difference and anyway all the bulbs look ok. HWMO took a look at the fuse box, and couldn't find a section for a fuse controlling both brake and reverse lights, but he's sure there must be one or at least hopes so, otherwise there could be a more sinister problem. -
Strange Noise 28 May 2003 (Forum)
The sound drops away when i drop speed to about - 30, and is inconsistent as sometimes it is there, somtimes not. I have recently changed all the brakes and the noise does not seem to be related to the brakes anyway. would appreciate any ideas cheers! -

VW MKIII GTI ABS Fault 15 Aug 2002 (Forum)
The ABS warning lamp illuminates for no apparent reason with no other symptoms noticed. 2. The ABS operates when braking gently at low speeds in dry conditions with no warning lamp illuminated. 3. The ABS operates when braking at low speeds in dry conditions followed by the warning light being illuminated. Turning the ignition off/on resets the warning light and the problem may not come back for a couple of days. -
