• Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe - Tyre wear: advice please 13 Oct 2013 (Forum)
  Now then, my MX5 is rear wheel drive and I am curious as to whether the 'front/rear' tyre wear pattern will be more evenly distributed, thus necessitating tyre renewal at the same time.  What do you think? Ian

  I'm told a diesel will be more economical with the long drives, I prefer a smaller hatchback type car and I have a budget of £5000-£6000, obviously looking to buy second hand. Any advice would be much appreciated!

  I have recently started driving the Peugeot as one of our pool cars at work. It seems to have an intermittent fault with the turbo and I was wondering if anyone could give any pointers. Generally seems fine to drive but on several journeys recently when on a motorway when going uphill it seems the turbo stops working to the extent that to get to the top you are having to drop down to 4 th gear and the speed is falling away rapidly.

  I've got rid of the Mondeo and got an02 Plate Focus from an old lady I knew, 1 owner 31,000 miles, full service history and the cam belt changed at 29,000 miles. In great condition. (got the auto as the mrs is learning to drive and will only drive an Auto box!). Anyway onto my question! I've noticed a little button on the Gear shift lever, when I press it a light comes on the dash saying O/D Off. Looking on the net it stands for overdrive, can any of the backroomers explain in simple terms for me what this does and what use / not use it has?

  Hi all resently posted about a rear knocking noise from passenger side,replaced upper control arms knocking noise went (sunday). went to work monday fine,went to work teusday i started to get a bit of a tiny rattle knocking noise not asloud as the previous knock but could here somthing from the passenger side rear,today wednesday there was no noise at all,ive now noticed the back passenger side seems to be sat lower about (20 mm) than the drivers side(rear) any advice on what could be causing this.   Ive only noticed cos ive reversed on to my drive in stead of driving on an its sat looking at me      :-((((((((      ...........thanks messa............ 
• Peugeot 207 (2006 - ) - 07 1.4 - failing to start when engine 11 Jun 2012 (Forum)
  I have taken the car to a Peugeot dealership 4 times with regards to this and each time they believe they have fixed it but it always seems to happen again. It is fine when starting the engine when it is cold but after driving somewhere then trying to start it again after say half hour or ten mins etc it only starts if i rev it at the same time. The engine also cut out on me the other day when driving which has never happened before.

  Never even a puncture or light bulb failure! It has no rust and has never failed MOT yet. It still feels taut to drive, stops quickly, drives straight and no rattles/squeaks! I always let my friend change the oil, avoid dealers and garages! Have I been lucky ?

  The car will start immediately or bump start once i straighten out and continue until i do another right turn or take a right bend. If i leave the car off for an hour or so, it starts and drives ok including right turns but only for a couple of minutes then it starts cutting out again. I know there is at least 5 litres in the tank but it seems to be coming through very slowly when low. If i fill it up at this point, it will take 27 litres maximum and will drive fine until it falls to 1/4. help!

  Hello, can anyone shed any light on why my VW Phaeton is ticking as I drive along? If I stand with my ear to the near side rear wheel it is quite loud.  Is it the fuel pump?  Rear passengers can hear it when driving at low speed. Another suggestion from a friend is the rear heating/AC system working, should it have a loud tick on a vehicle like this?!

    I'd also welcome any feedback on the grip control option. Does this involve driving all year on mud/snow tyres? If  so, any issues about driving (carefully) in wet conditions? And what sort of mileage can we expect? Any other feedback much appreciated.

  They say this, in turn, has caused 'cambelt problems'. I don't know this engine, so can anyone please tell me what the aux drive belt drives (water pump / alternator / power steering?) and if the failure of this belt can cause the cambelt to jump / break?   Thanks!   Craig

  I admit that the van is easier to drive as it doesn't seem to be held back so much but still I only need to touch the brakes for them to stop my van. I am sure my braking in uneven and harder on my drivers side. Any help for easy fix?

  Started the car up, engaged Drive and the gearbox went into back up mode ( only drivable in 3rd gear), As the drive home was 20 miles I called the AA who diagnosed the problem from the cars own system as a Pressure Solinoid Switch which is stuck in the Off position.

  I have just recently bought an audi a4 2003. The car drives really well but on motorways it does tend to wonder a bit (not necessary due to the camber of the road). I cannot afford any expensive repair bills but think this could be due to a worn control arm / tie rod end.

  Today I heard a strange rattling or knocking noise from my front offside corner of my car as I was driving home.  It hadn't been a long drive and wasn't very fast.   Steering didn't feel any different and when I stopped and looked there was a ring of spray around the inside of the wheel arch, although I couldn't see any liquid leaking anywhere around the centre of the wheel, just seemingly sprayed outwards in a ring around the wheel arch.

  I bought this from new and have had numerous problems such as electronic service indicator counting down very very quickly, carpet coming adfift of the trim, exterior door rubbing strips coming adrift of the door, a breakdown whilst driving, steering lock/ignition key recall problem, glovebox release mechanism broken, horn intermittently not working, paint chipping on bonnet despite mainly slow speed driving, hatchback would not close until shut several times, rear seat velour stitching not finished, remote central locking intermittently not working, electronic oil level indicator reading empty despite being virtually full, etc nearly all are now resolved but very frustrating and lets the car down - anybody else with simailar experiences ?????
