Hyundai i40 - Hankook Tyres 24 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I have just had the original two front tyres replaced at 54,000 miles, which seems really good. The car is front wheel drive the same as my past few cars, also leased . However these all needed new tyres at around 30,000 miles. I haven't changed my driving style and wanted to try and find out how these have lasted so long. -
Reliabilie and economical - Buying a used car for taxi used 23 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Hi everyone I'm having a hard time choosing a next workhorse with negative feedbacks about diesel cars manufactured since 2009 due to its DPF while I'm running more than 25000 a year mostly town driving, I'm not sure if petrol will be a good idea. I'm driving a 1.9 passat with 5 speed at the moment and it never lets me down. I only have 7000 budget for a used car but it has to be atleast 7 years old. -
Audi A4 2.0 TDi - Sell or Keep it? 30 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Brought this car a year back @84000 miles and used it all motorways, but now moved home closer to my work and dont really do that much drive on this beautiful diesel car and this car hasnt been dearer to my pockets too. Now that i am clsoe to work and dont think i am going to do real long drives (at the max over weekends would do 80-100 miles). -
2005 3 Series 318Ci - Clutch Problem BMW 318Ci 4 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Sometimes hard enough to get car into first and second gear - feel like I'm forcing it and I can hear a slight thud from the drive shaft in the process. There's an intermittent judder (rather than a clean bite) when pulling off from a stop. No noise, vibrations or slippage, and the pedal feels normal. 63,000 miles, 10 years old, mainly city driving. -
Mitsubishi Pajero - Lidl outrage! 9 Apr 2015 (Forum)
It's not the end of the world - but it is vexing ... some klutz has managed to put the car park out of bounds to most people who drive a large 4 x 4, and probably some people carriers too. -

Ford Fiesta Zetec Titanium - Ford 24 Jan 2015 (Forum)
RE heated windscreen...I purchased my car 2 months ago. after driving the car for a couple of weeks in daylight I then drove at night. To my horror the light from oncoming cars, traffic lights and street lights were breaking up into pixels which distorted the view from my windscreen so much that I cannot drive safely at night. -

Ford Ka - Over heating 1 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Car starts, and runs OK, internal heater starts to warm car, radiator and expansion bottle both fill with hot water, electric fan on external radiator works. Not using any water.......after 20 mins round town driving dash warning light comes on, put internal heating on full (open a window) and after 20 secs or so warning light goes off and stays off as long as you keep heater on. Warning light comes on if driving motorway speeds, just takes a little longer then goes off again when you put heater on full. -
Vauxhall Corsa Sxi 1.4 - I removed a tip of a screw driver from the tyre... 17 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Last night I found a tip of a screw driving sticking within the tyre(the tip was side by side) by the outer layer of the tyre. I checked this morning and the tyre seems to be the same also I done a bubble test and no air. The circle is shown where it was and the line is to demonstrate the position of the tip of the screw driver If the tyre has a bit of cut damaged on the outer layer of the tyre will it damage the car like suspension/shock absorbers/steering wheel/brakes or car mechanical parts when driving over normal roads/speed humps/potholes/uneven roads or any road. -
Car for a mixed road commute 4 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Hi all, I'm looking to buy a second hand car that should hopefully be fuel efficient and reliable. I have a 70 mile round commute which, on a one way journey, consists of about 5 miles city driving, 15 miles motorway driving and 15 miles on A/B roads (although there's sometimes a bit of traffic on these). At the moment, I own an '02 1.2L corsa which has served me well on this commute for about a year, but things are starting to fall apart now! -
Any - Mercedes Autobox Fluid Changes 15 Jul 2014 (Forum)
I was interested to read the following from the MB website: " This new transmission has been significantly improved in terms of economy, driving dynamics and ride comfort. With its short shift times and almost imperceptible gear changes, the system ensures the engine is always operating at the optimum speed to minimise fuel consumption. Noise and vibrations have been reduced, adding to an already sublime driving experience. -
Irresponsible HGV driver 12 Jun 2014 (Forum)
The one upside was the number of the company he/she worked for was on the rear. BTW, this was a very high vehicle too. This has to be some of the worst HGV driving I have ever seen. Generally, IMO, these drivers are some of the best on our roads. -
yugo - HJ column in the DT Sat 1st Feb 2014 6 Feb 2014 (Forum)
But I kept my real opinion to myself. The fact is, people from all over the EU and beyond have brought their driving habits with them, and the natives are copying them. Road manners where I live have become terrible. If you are on a roundabout, people entering from your left very often don't wait their turn, they just drive on. -
Skoda superb 2.0 diesel - Skoda Superb 2.0 spluttering at low rpm 1 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I had it regenerated at the garage and within 2 miles of the garage the problem was back. The light has only come on once but the symptoms keep happening. I drive 1000k per week, most motorway miles, so at a bit of a loss? It's only ever at low revs and feels like I'm in the wrong gear, it's helped marginally by changing into a lower gear and is mainly noticeable during town driving. -
VW Passat Estate 1.9 TDI - Passat Estate strong vibration while parked 20 Jan 2014 (Forum)
We can clearly feel the vibration once the car is parked for over 30 seconds, but as soon as I start to drive it with any speed, the vibrations disappear. The car drives ok at all gears and speeds without any vibration problem. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with the car? -
Peugeot 306 HDI D-turbo - Rubbing/vibration noise offside front. 13 Jan 2014 (Forum)
This vibration increases in frequency as the speed increases, and increases in severity and volume when turning right during driving or braking. I have likened this noise and feel to a slighly buckled wheel or a warped brake disc but the discs and pads have just been renewed and the noise appeared during a long drive. -
Ford Fiesta - Brake travel on 63 Model 2 Jan 2014 (Forum)
As I braked the brake pedal seemed to me, to travel a lot further than I usually would expect before the braking kicked in. When I got back from the drive I asked the Manager who has been driving it from new if she felt the same about it. She said no, and that she didn't think there was any problem. So my query to you guys is this. Is this braking normal on this new shape model, and a matter of getting used to, or do I have a realistic concern?
