  • The last 5 series 3 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I have noticed some that look rather smart with a factory body kit called the sport. The suspension is firmer and they have some extras. Since the fuel economy is similiar on all of them I thought I would treat myself to the 528 or 530. Any thoughts from owners? Cheers Peter
  • BP Ultimate gives 11% power increase 20 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Since it's illegal under the Trades Description Act and Advertising Standards to make mis-leading claims, this must be true! What's this fuel like in real world conditions?

  • Air filters 28 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I think it is a paper one and wondering how do I know when it needs changing. Are there any pages showing what condition they should be in. Also, when should fuel filters be changed and what does failure to change them do to the engine?
  • Trafficmaster - or something else? 2 May 2003 (Forum)
Or is there anything comparable worth considering? My only experience of the system to date was in a hire car, caught in a rolling fuel blockade. That thoroughly confused it!
  • 306 DT Bad Starting 5 Feb 2003 (Forum)
It's got just over 135K on the clock. I have recently replaced the glow plug (which are working correclty), the fuel and air filter. It runs fine once she's going, but on start up it needs about 20 sec of cranking, then it stumbles to a start (med revs). Can anyone suggest anything.
  • Dodgy diesel on TV tonight 1 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Anyone see the report on dodgy diesel ? One shot showed a fuel pump selling diesel suspiciously cheaply,i.e. 72.9 p per litre. I`ve just filled up on the A414 with diesel 4 or 5 or 6 pence per litre cheaper than "normal". It was wearing Shell logos everywhere so I should be safe.Shouldn`t I ???????
  • Insurance for reconditioned cars 2 Sep 2001 (Forum)
My 280 E Merc (Auto, petrol, 20 years, 200,000 miles) has undergone a £12,000 reconditioning, including modification for unleaded fuel, plus respray and other body work. Insurers won't now accept a valuation above the going market price for an un-reconditioned car, which seems to be about £9000. Does anyone know of a sympathetic insurer or broker who might help?
  • fiat 127 15 Apr 2001 (Forum)
my sister has a fiat 127 from 1982, it has 41.000 miles on the clock, with some history, and the original sales invoice, it is the 903cc engine, and the model is the comfort, its the rare two doors with a boot, it must go to a good home, i was wondering if any body would like to buy it, and how much is it worth, it has some rust on the passenger door, and the fuel gauge doesnt work.
  • re diesel or petrol 21-02-01(ashley) 27 Feb 2001 (Forum)
,that works out at about 85 mpg! for a car that is rated at 50+mpg.The only way you can work out the fuel consumption correctly is by filling the tank to the brim, running it to nearly empty, filling it again and then doing your sums as has been already mentioned by H.J.
  • BMW 1 Series Convertible - Mot fail due to Lambda reading 8.199 26 Apr 2024 (Forum)
Car failed mot because lambda reading is 8.199. It's been running fine and fuel consumption normal. Any ideas what could be the cause? Halfords who did the mot wouldn't even look at it. Told me I needed to go to bmw dealership but it's going into a local garage.
  • Toyota RAV4 2.2 D4D 2006 124k - Black smoke cloud 21 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Hello, bit of black smoke on start, clouds under acceleration on overtaking on motorway. Slight ticking from engine. Air and fuel filters replaced , no difference. Pulls ok, engine quite smooth but diesel knocking a bit. Not burning oil to any degree. Would a single injector cause this? Any advice much appreciated.

  • Any - Super Unleaded 31 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Unfortunately I do not ride my bikes nearly often enough as I should, with the result that they can stand for too long with this "orrible" ethanol polluted petrol in the tank and all the problems this can (and does) cause. I am aware that some (but not all) "super" fuel brands are ethanol free! Can anyone better informed than me give any indication of which particular brands are thus if possible please?
