• Caravans (again) 10 Aug 2006 (Forum)
  Suddenly the caravan got the wobbles and less than 10 seconds later it had tipped over in spectacular fashion. Fortunately, the towing RAV4 stayed upright - although it had been wrenched around by 300 degrees - and the occupants were OK although shaken. What concerned me was that I could n't see what the driver had done wrong, the road conditions were good, there was no wind and he was driving at a sensible speed for towing.

  Will probably end up buying 2nd hand, don't really want to go through losing a lot on depreciation etc. But wanted to test the cars properly, and would like to see how they handle towing, so would like to drive for a couple of days at least. Any ideas? Not tried the dealers yet, but is this reasonable or am I going to be laughed at....

  The scary thing was that the trailer itself looked okay until "prodded" with a chipping hammer...... When was the last time you checked your tow hitch bolts??? I've never seen damage this bad in hurpmh years of working around boats!!!

  Leesten very carefully, as I shall say zis only once... Towing a trailer? Then stay out of the blinking 3rd lane on the motorway - YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO USE IT! I thankyou. End of rant.

  I need a car towed away and scrapped (as opposed to dumping it in a layby like everyone else!). Does anyone know of a scrapper in/around Guildford who would do this and any idea what it would cost? Advice much appreciated.

  The engine turns over, but does not catch. It starts with a tow and then will start all day long. The next day it will not start again. Any ideas?

  [endif]--> I have a 2013 Kia Sorento   ... a great car, and when underway also a good tow car ... self levelling suspension really does teh job, no snaking or pitching from trailer. However there is a major issue that questions this SUV's capabilty as a Tow Car under 2 scenarios, exacerbated by there being no Low Ratio option which would greatly assist 'pull away' under load.

  Hi Everyone i would like to share my experience with the above dealer and person, can someone give me some advice we bought a brand new M Power car of them in september last year and it was a cash purchase of over £130k no finance was taker out unfortunately, the vehicle has failed me 4 times, failing to start 2 times, and 2 times cutting out in the fast lane of the motorway with my family in the car all within 3 month off ownership i have told them i am rejection the car under the consumers act 2015 but they are saying there not accepting my rejection because of a tow bar has been fitted by a 3rd party and that what was causing the problem, but not once have a picked up a bill from BMW Relating to this so i know that was Rubbish i have reports of the warranty work and job sheets and technicians finding but not 1 off them says it a tow bar issue or wiring The tow bar got taken off the car and guess what it failed me again on the motorway!

  Will be needing to change my corolla at the start of summer to something that will tow a large 4 berth caravan.... Needs to be an estate, and probably on the large side, I checked out kerbweights/towing limits of primera/avensis size cars and they are approaching 100% of the caravan max weight - Caravan Club recommend only towing 85% of weight of car, and def. not more than 100% of car weight.

  2009 308 2.0 HDi wifes car bought last summer cuts out but would start again after a few minutes this happened a lot of times but no pattern hours to weeks Diagox no faults at all tested several times lately is has been worse had to tow it home but always started the next day till last week flattens the battery trying to start it took and charged overnight refitted then started then yesterday it would not start so towed it home again charged battery then started again.

  Hi,   I have recently bought a 05 Mondeo Auto 110K  I have noticed while towing I am getting a lot of shudder in the car  ( like running over cattle grid/ or about to stall) when towing the car. It seems to be around 55mph, Revs just under 2000mph.  It happens occasionally when driving the car normally.
