Filled her car with the correct fuel. Came to start mine the next morning and it just miss fired and spluttered. I realised immeadiatly what I had done. I drained the tank by disconnecting the pipe from the fillter and used the lift pump in the tank to empty the fuel.

  • Vauxhall Astra H 1.6 20 - Fuel Gauge reading empty 11 Feb 2020 (Forum)
When I put the battery back, the car works but I noticed the fuel gauge all of a sudden is stuck on 0 and the Low Fuel light is flashing. I'm not sure whether this is a mechanical problem with the fuel tank or an electrical one with the signal not being transmitted.
  • vauxhall astra 1.7 dth 2007 - no fuel at injectors 1 Jul 2013 (Forum)
there are no fault codes stored. i have tried by squirting a bit of brake cleaner into air intake ( i know its not ideal ) and engine ran fine for a few seconds so im pretty sure it is just the fuel problem, any ideas ? wasthinking about just running some fuel direct into the top of the pump , would this work ?
  • High-octane fuels & power in non-turbo engines 3 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Especially interesting as the BM has a knock sensor and can adjust its ignition timing on the fly according to fuel quality. So on these engines (which are mapped for 95 octane fuel at the factory), there's no power gain from premium fuel.
  • Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - Honda jazz new vs old fuel economy 28 Dec 2008 (Forum)
i been browsing on the net and reading various magazines on the new honda jazz, i myself have the old jazz a 2003 1.4 se, now autocar tested the new jazz a 1.4 with ivtec 16 valve and the fuel economy was 35 mpg and was according to them fair, did honda say that the fuel economy of the new jazz was 53 mpg? the old jazz probably got superior fuel economy in real driving just wondering if any one got the new jazz and what is the fuel economy like.
  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 04 1.6Hdi fuel gauge/computer readings 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Comments on the performance of the fuel gauge and computer. Being an impoverished Meldrew I ran the fuel way lower than I ever have before as I had a 5p/litre off voucher to use! The gauge warning light came on with the needle well into the red and with 80 miles indicated as available range.
  • Cavalier SRI MK3 Fuel Problems 6 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Also when starting from warm when the car has been driven about then stopped, if u start the engine straight away it cuts out all the time until u keep revving it up when its about to stall. then it will eventually keep running. I have changed the fuel pump, fuel regulator, air flow meter, vacum, fuel filter, its even been away to a garage, which tuned the car up and still has the same problem, Be much appreciated if you could give me as much feed back as possible please. thank you
  • Petrol and diesel best detergents best performance - Petrol station fuel reviews which is the best? 20 Apr 2019 (Forum)
HJ always praises the higher cost detergent added fuels. Has there been any independent tests done to prove which ones offer the best in terms of detergent efficiency and performance / mpg improvement over the standard fuel? Or what is your own experience and recommendation?
  • Performance Fuels Rumours! 11 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I have just emptied my tank on the car and decided for the first time in my life, I filled her up with the high octane unleaded premium fuel. Only costing me £6 more for a full tank! I was just wondering if all the rumours are true? Better economy? Better performance? Does anyone know the facts and whether it's best for me to continue using the premium expensive fuel?

  • Blocked diesel supply pipes - Bio Diesel 1 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Understand that since bio has been added to diesel fuel there has been a problem with the deterioration of the baffles in the fuel tank. To such an extent that the plastic remnants have been found to be blocking the fuel delivery pipes. I heard of one case where the whole system including the pump had to be replaced at a cost of £9k.
  • Peugeot 307 SW - Unblocked Fuel Filter 28 Feb 2013 (Forum)
I have a fault coming up on a Peugeot 307 HDi which states unblock fuel filter, When it comes on it puts the Engine Managment light on, the performance doesn't seem to alter and when you restart the engine the light goes out. The fuel filter itself looks fairly new as if the previous owner may of had this problem before selling it!!
  • Movano fuel problem 29 Aug 2012 (Forum)
I have a Movano van that intermittently looses power and stalls (twice in 140 mile trip). It seems the fuel seems to stop. Garage have already charged £200 for replacing a fuel sensor but no improvement and now want it back to send it to a diesel expert?? Has anybody any knowledge of this problem or advice as to how to handle a garage who carry out work that has no positive results?

  • Honda Prelude (1992 - 1996) - 1992 2.0 - High fuel comsumption? 10 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I have a 1992 Honda Prelude 2.0l and i feel it uses too much fuel. For £10 of fuel i get an average of 35 miles while driving about city centre. It also seems to lack power a little. Anyone any ideas if this is normal. If not any ideas how this could be solved? Could it be the ignition timing?
  • Is a leaking fuel tank an MOT failure? 27 Aug 2007 (Forum)
My wife's J-reg Toyota Starlet is leaking fuel from the seam half way up the tank. If she runs it quite low and puts in no more than £8 of fuel at a time, then the level stays below the seam and there's no leak. If the leak area looks dry, will the MOT tester fail it?
  • fuel savers 4 Oct 2006 (Forum)
i was just looking around ebay and i picked up on a load of "fuel savers". there is loads of different kinds on there from plastic things to a guy who you give a couple of quid and he will tell you that something you can buy out of your supermarket that saves fuel. do these things really really work ?
  • LPG/Duel fuel systems 7 Jul 2005 (Forum)
hello, I've just taken delivery of a 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina. To my amazement it's (factory/dealer) fitted with an LPG duel fuel system. I know absolutely nothing about duel fuel and it would appear that my googling skills are not what they once were. :( I'm after someone in the bedfordshire area that can service/check it out for me.
