Cost-cutting motorists going "too far" 26 Feb 2009 (News)
A new trend among hard-up motorists has been condemned by Kwik-Fit. The company explained a growing number of drivers were attempting to cut fuel costs by putting their vehicles into neutral when travelling downhill. Research by the firm found 15 per cent of motorists indulge in this practice, which has been dubbed eco-coasting. Vehicle owners were warned being out of gear means being out of control and if they insist on free-wheeling they could end up facing a car insurance claim. -

Kia unveils latest eco-friendly development 24 Nov 2008 (News)
People who are considering buying a car with strong green credentials may be interested in work being carried out by Kia. The manufacturer has just unveiled its Borrego fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. According to the carmaker, the vehicle is capable of 161 kph, offers system efficiency of 62 per cent and has a range of approximately 685 km. -

New cars could save motorists money in the long run 10 Nov 2008 (News)
It was revealed the older models were able to achieve a three per cent improvement on the fuel economy figures for their models published by the Vehicle Certification Agency. Meanwhile, the more modern vehicles showed a 14 per cent improvement. Commenting on the research, Europcar's fleet director Tim Bailey stated: "Our experiment shows not only that driving the newer cars will save you money, but also that the driving style adopted plays a huge part in ... fuel economy. -

New car sales jump 13.4 per cent in June 4 Jul 2013 (News)

The SMMT says that the switchover to fuel-efficient models has helped fuel growth and new car CO2 emissions are down 3.7 per cent compared to a year ago, with the average now at 129.1g/km. The surge in sales will be welcomed by the UK’s automotive industry, which turns over £59 billion and supports more than 700,000 jobs. -

They were not alone as car 46, the Citroen Maigret of Mario Illian, and car 78, the Holden of Mike and James Killingsworth, also had fuel leaks. The Holden has re-joined us having caught up after losing time with a clutch change. -
