  • Reversing Cameras 8 Dec 2003 (Forum)
These fall off the windscreen anyway (the sticky pads cannot take the extra weight). But in these days of small covert cameras and Nissan Primeras with reversing TV images (she doesn\'t want as big a car as the Primera), does anyone know if such items can be sourced and retrofitted on cars? Thaks for any help anyone can give.
  • More M6 SPECS 20 Jul 2001 (Forum)
Just a post to say more SPECS cameras have appeared on the M6. I noticed them today between J6/7 northbound on the "roadworks" that are allegedly occuring. There is no warning of cameras as you approach the raodworks and no camera sign so I dont know if they are working yet but they appear just past the J6 bridge with another about 1/2 mile short of J7.

  • speedcamera reading satnavs in France 17 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Not sure if this has been posted before or not. I know (and be warned those that don't) that the French police take a somewhat dim view of camera detectors, whether they are working or not. Question is, does this extend to my TomTom which picks up European traffic cameras?
  • Cheers Chap 14 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Just on the off chance! A big thankyou to the Astra driver who flashed me yesterday to warn of a mobile speed camera in the Buckinghamshire* area! I was doing a little bit naughty 50 in a 30! The camera was well hidden by trees! * Not saying the more acurate area due to obvious reasons!

  • It's not the money... 14 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Of course not. They keep telling us this don't they? OK, if the cameras are 'nothing to do with money', why don't they just stick the points on our licence? Sorry to bang on about these cash cameras, but I've had a few glasses of exellent Shiraz and I'm feeling militant.

  • Speed camera stats are like all Gov't 19 Apr 2007 (Forum)
She has spent three years investigating an effect which blows a hole in the government's statistics on speed cameras. It's a statistical phenomenon known as "regression to mean". In simple English, it refers to the fact that any extreme score - high or low - at one point in time will probably be less extreme the next time it's tested for purely statistical reasons.

  • Seat Alhambra - Parking sensors, rear view camera 9 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Good morning I have as Seat Alhambra I-tec which has been repaired due to a minor accident, despite a decent looking job the parking sensors and rear view camera no longer appear to work. They are supposed to activate automatically when reversing but no longer do so, my guess being as the sensors have not been re-attached. A thumb through the handbook says use the switch on the centre console, but no joy from trying this ??

  • Speeding (mostly excl cameras) Vol 48 6 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I recently got two intentions to presecute for speeding. They were both for 38mph in a 30 zone and both from the same camera. Clearly I was unaware that this was a 30 zone - the road had a 40 limit for many years. However to be fair it is signed. To get to the point, I have paid the fine and attended a speed awareness workshop.
  • Do Some Speed Cameras Discriminate......?? 21 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I know that attempts to overturn speeding convictions on the grounds of "infringement of human rights" etc have generally failed, but has anyone ever successfully subsequently sued on the grounds that some speed cameras deliberately discriminate between different classes of road users? To my (non-legal) mind, where motorists have been caught approaching speed cameras and the police have relied solely on front number plates for vehicle identification, the motorist has grounds to file for discrimination on the grounds that they have been singled out from and treated differently to another class of road user; namely motor cyclists i.e. that by relying solely on front number plates for identification, a motor cyclist could not have been caught.
  • Speed Camera Question 28 Nov 2001 (Forum)
(please I dont want to start another long thread on the speed debate). What I would like to know is this-the camera was on the opposite side of the road to me and faced my oncoming car. There were no other vehicles in the coverage zone of the camera, and I clearly saw the two flashes in the top right corner of my windscreen as I drove past.
