The MG TF LE500 is a heavily re-worked special edition of the well-loved original sports car, packed with extras such as 16” alloy wheels, leather seats and metallic paint as standard. Alfa Romeo may inspire car buyers 23 Feb 2009 (News)
In order to reduce the model's weight as much as possible, engineers have crafted its tailgate spoiler, along with its roof and mirror fairings, from carbon-fibre. On top of this, aluminium has been widely used in the braking and suspension systems, as well as in the chassis. The manufacturer said the car offers excellent levels of comfort and control. " The vehicle features intelligent adaptive forward lighting which allows the motor's headlamp beam to adjust automatically to prevailing road and weather conditions. It also includes an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability programme and three-point safety belts. During the Ncap tests, the model was awarded 35 points out of a maximum of 37 for adult protection. Meanwhile, the Insignia was recently named the 2009 European Car of the Year, after receiving 321 votes. -
Smart drivers 'can cut costs' 19 Nov 2008 (News)
It explained this meant the cars' engines would stop when a driver had their foot on the brake and the vehicle slowed down to less than five mph. The car would then restart when the motorist lifted their foot off the pedal. According to smart, this technology could cut fuel consumption by 24 per cent and reduce CO2 emissions to 103 grams per kilometre. -

Organisers of this year's ALD Automotive/Total Excellium MPG Marathon state the event has shown avoiding sharp braking and accelerating can cut fuel costs by an average of 23 per cent.
