Hydrogen Hybrid Technology, used for over 50 Years by The Military, NASA, Scientists, Universities and recently Car Makers such as Honda, BMW and Lexus… Guaranteed! For over 50 years international institutions, universities, engineering associations and independent testing labs have been compiling documentation and test results proving that small amounts of hydrogen added to the internal combustion engine significantly reduces toxic emissions, increases engine performance and provides a more complete burn of the fuel resulting in better gas mileage.
  • Affordable (sub-15k) EV's - what and when 7 Nov 2020 (Forum)
I've been looking at ICE models like the Ateca, CX-5 and others but I don't feel great about the thought of investing in another 10 years worth of emissions. So, looking around it would seem my best EV alternative right now would probably be a BMW i3 Rex (yes, emissions, I know… but probably 85% of my journeys will be short enough to be all electric). Something like this: https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/202009023203156?quoteref=609efd17-1203-4b20-b928-70222f6051b7 But I'm wondering how long I'd have to wait for other, better options to come up.

  • Ford Focus Estate 2007 TDI 1.8L - How do I keep rodents out of engine compartment 12 Aug 2019 (Forum)
In a few weeks time, my younger son (who is in the RN) will be off on deployment for a considerable while and will be leaving his 2006 BMW 330i (which he loves) at home for me to look after and keep ticking over and I don't want that to become a mouse/rat home during the winter.
  • Hot Hatches - which one 28 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Hello, I recently posted about choosing between petrol and diesel. I was also looking at coupes such as the Merceceds E 350 and the BMW 330 and was also looking at spending £10-£11k on a used version.  However, I have decided to go a different route, simply to save a bit of money so that I can look to get an Alfa Giulia in a couple of years when the used prices have dropped a bit.
  • TBC - Diesel or Petrol - The eternal question (DPF) 16 Oct 2018 (Forum)
The Cars I have really enjoyed test driving are unfortunately rarer than the Pope when looking for a petrol version.  I have driven a BMW 330i and 335i, along with a Mercedes e350 CGI, yet looking for a Petrol version in a specific price bracket means travelling 200 miles to find one. For instance, the e350 Coupe petrol aged between 2009 and 2013 - Autotrader has 4 in the whole country!!!
  • Contract Dispute - Car Finance / Excess Mileage 17 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Hi, new here to the forum and hoping for some help for a sticky situation I've found myself in with regard to excess mileage costs. I took a vehicle (BMW 4 series) out 4 years ago on a contract hire lease. I found the deal via an online quote from a car leasing company and we signed the agreement on lease amount and also the excess mileage charge at 5p/mile.
  • Volkswagen Passat Estate - Replacing Passat estate with .... 12 Jun 2018 (Forum)
RAV4 (new shape) 2.2/2.0 diesel - haven't test driven, but has good balance of space and comfort, mpg may not be great though. BMW 320d tourer - haven't test driven one yet, but fancy something more fun than the Passat. The missus is getting fed up with weekend car shopping now, so need to make my mind up. Any recommendations?
  • Automatic petrol with a bit of panache and flair 28 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Been at 5/6 nationwide dealers - Skoda, VW, Ford, Peugeot, Mazda - they all searched their databases and came up with over 700 diesels that fitted the bill and about 10 petrols....a Skoda, a BMW 3 series estate, and I forget the other ones. I need some help....some ideas....suspect I will have to go private.... Tried a Mazda 6 petrol auto (new and old model) and was frankly unimpressed.
  • Used automatic car advice 23 Jun 2016 (Forum)
I have also found that seats, where you can adjust the tilt of the cushion you sit on, are the most comfortable however I have only found this on newer cars and I do not have that amount of money to put down at the moment. I was advised to only stick with Japanese, BMW, maybe ford focus and Volkswagen auto boxes. If anyone here could help me out with anything more info that would be a great help. Thanks in advance
  • Mazda 3 - Like the look of the Mazda 3 - any tips? 10 Apr 2015 (Forum)
The kit they come with looks great, can get one with a really low mileage and great techy toys for the price of a lower-specced Audi or BMW, but there's just one thing I'm worried about, and that's the lack of a turbo petrol. I'm so used to the little Audi being so nippy - It may be unwarranted but I've been worried that the Mazda might not be quite as responsive when I need to get the power down (admittedly I know next to nothing about this kind of thing so I'm happy to be schooled on it by you guys).
  • Volvo V40 - Volvo V40 Residuals 2 Sep 2014 (Forum)
What surprised me was that the Volvo V40 D2 (and seemingly according to Autotrader as well) is the most expensive of the lot, by around £1k over the Audi, and nearly £2k over the BMW/Golf even after negotiation - truth be told the Volvo dealer didn't really move unlike the rest, but prices generally seem higher like-for-like. Similar mileage (20k miles), very nice car and probably the one I'd favour all being equal, despite being slowest and being a Volvo!
  • Mini one 1.4 auto - Engine oil 26 Mar 2013 (Forum)
She covers about 150 miles every month - mostly town driving. It does get a run down the motorway every couple of weeks. It has a full BMW service history. I have noticed that it uses about 1 litre of oil for every 800 - 900 miles it covers. My Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi auto ( also 2007 reg - 34000 miles on the clock) has not required an oil top up since its last oil service (about 6000 miles ago).
  • Warning about Credit Hire 31 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Though the other driver's company agreed to pay for the repair, they (rightfully in my view) declined to pay the £6,582.35 that the credit hire company charge for the BMW 5 series lent to me for 23 days. They have now issued a summons against me for £7,234.23 to recover this amount. Any advice would be welcome.I felt I was just trying to to protect my NCD as the other party had not offered to repair my car or lend me a car whilst doing so.
  • Should I Opt Out of Car Allowance for Co Car? 15 Jul 2011 (Forum)
This car allowance currently funds my current car (personal loan) and the loan is coming to an end and my plan is to upgrade car again (as I do every 4 years) financed through a personal loan and equity from current car However I have now gone to a new project and my business mileage will increase to 23k plus personal. I am know thinking I might be better off with a company car - they currently offer bmw 3 series or Audi A4. I appreciate I will lose the car allowance in my salary, and will get taxed on BIK for company car but not sure where to start on a calculation to see which option would be more cost effective.
  • Skoda Octavia VRS & MG ZT-T cdti - My lovely Skoda VRS vs ....an MG?! 7 Nov 2010 (Forum)
My VRS was a good one to start with, with everything still being tip top and should sell easily for a good price. My concerns are that on the one hand this MG supposedly has the BMW sourced 2.0 engine and gearbox that is totally bulletproof and on the other hand the car can suffer from electical issues and the dreaded clutch / dual mass flywheel wallet breaker. I'm a real world guy working to a tight budget.
  • Car technical advice - Tech Section V Magazines 20 May 2010 (Forum)
Pictures perhaps.. Something for forums in the future perhaps - for example who saw those pics of sludgeon the US BMW forum? Lack of peer review would seem to be the death knell of tech mags though, surely? Don`t you just really appreciate it when a couple of techs have different views over in Tech? I tend to read most of the threads there out of sheer interest in the discussion itself - the points coming out of differing opinions being as interesting as the actual issue being discussed.
  • Bye Bye Pug - Hello Audi A3 8 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Talking about my surprise at the lack of available deals in december, the saleswoman said they were so busy because of the VAT change, they couldn't take all the potential orders. Even today, the showroom was very busy. The one thing is...BMW, if you ever bothered to follow up enquiries, it may have been a 5 series. As the numerous dealers simple couldn't put the effort into returning calls, Audi got the cash.
  • Citroen C5 II (2008 - ) - Good looking deal on 59 plate 23 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Company is mine BTW, and generally I don't pay tax - just earn a minimum and dividends. I know many of you will say don't - get a used Audi/BMW etc, but apart from the Merc C class I really didn't rate their quality of drive all that much. and that is out of my league.
  • Bums on Seats 3 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Can you please help in focussing my used car hunting ..... at the moment my draft list extends to ..... Volvo XC90 & V70, Mercedes E Class Estate, BMW 5 Series Touring, VW Passat Estate. I'm working to a budget of £18k max and in light of the number of messy children would have leather seating as a prerequisite to help the cleaning-up process. Thanks in advance for any assistance......
