  • Motorcycle styling trends 21 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Wiling away a wet Saturday morning, did plan to go for a run on the ZX7R, just looking on the Yamaha website, they have an archive section, interesting as to how contemporary the '92 FZR1000 looks both in design and colour scheme, (red, white and blue) however the '95 colour scheme with dark purples etc looks way out of date now. It was the same for most of the other manufacturers, mid '90's Fireblades, CBR600's, GSXR's, ZZR's, ZXR's etc can look very dated now though those from approx '89 to '92 look the business, really all down to colours. Regards.
  • Zafira rear brakes 20 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I have a 2004 Zafira DTi and have spent a couple of hours today trying to get the piston back in on the n/s rear caliper. I don't have the proper tool but managed to get the o/s piston in using long-nosed pliers and brute force. Is there a knack to it? The piston turns and I'm pushing as hard as I can. I've tried the old trick of levering against an old brake pad but fear I might damage the caliper if I do it much more.

  • Tyre Wear - Volvo V70 3 Jul 2006 (Forum)
{Moved from Discussion. DD} Hi, I have a 2002 Volvo V70. It\'s done about 50k miles, and the rear tyres are still the original. Until recently they had lasted really well, but in the past few weeks they seem to have both worn extensivly on the outside of each tyre.

  • car change 11 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Remember me? I was going to buy a 1980's 911, then an S2000, but couldn't afford either?! Change of plan- I'm now going to buy an MGB roadster, late 1960s, early 70's (chrome & wires/ minilites etc. I'm not new to this- had 2 midgets in the past, but would like to tap into the fountain of Back Room knowledge.
  • Omega - Four way tracking needed? 9 Sep 2005 (Forum)
The Omega failed it's MOT a few weeks back on the rear n/s tyre. This tyre was actually much newer than the rest due to damage to the old one. The tyre was worn on the inside of the tread only. The MOT chappy told me that the front o/s was nearly marginal, being worn on the inside edge only too.

  • Uninsured loss recovery 16 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Anyway, I was wondering how to go about recovering our uninsured losses, such as fuel, telephone calls, courtesy car insurance, general inconvenience etc? Is there any way to quantify the inconvenience factor into £s.... We don't have the optional legal cover on the insurance - think its a waste of money. All help will be gratefully received.
  • BMW 3 or 5 series? 1 Sep 2004 (Forum)
It seems, to the un-educated eye, that you now get a lot of 2nd hand car for not a lot of money. The confusing things are the choice of models, where to buy from and also high mileage and less £'s or low mileage and more £'s What's everyone's thoughts on models? What's the best value if I plan to hang onto the car for the next 5 - 6 years? Is it worth looking at auctions when private prices do seem to be very reasonable?
  • cheap car - any good? 6 Jul 2004 (Forum)
i wasnt planning on changing my car but the price is very tempting for what you get. 2 questions. 1. is the kia mentor any good? (while kia\'s generally are rough and ready, some differ significantly in build quality to others) 2. whats the depreciation like? i\'ve seen other kia\'s such as the magentis and shuma prices go for under 2 grand 3 years old!
  • Porsche 911targa & Sclass merc @ auction 27 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Hi there, A few years ago I purchased a car at Blackbushe and was very pleased, however this was a low cost car. I am now in the market to buy a Mercedes S class (about 3-4 years old) plus a fun car - later shape 911 convertable - that isn't as family friendly. I will go along to a few Top Car auctions at Blackbushe but does anyone have any advise with regards to payment on such high value cars and also if you think it's a big mistake to try this route to get the best car(s) for my money?
  • Creaking Suspension - Y Reg Vectra 11 Jan 2004 (Forum)
It\'s been happening for a while now - the front suspension creaks. This happens when I go over the speed bumps in the work\'s car park - five of the things - which I cross at about 10~15mph. It also happens on the speed reduction bumps and tables on the highway.
  • HDi 110 or 90 (Citroen diesel) 26 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I've been looking at various classifieds and dealer sites that offer Xantia that are supposed to be 110's and turn out to be 90's. As an aside, I've found one dealer offering a vehicle at one price on AutoTrader (as a Xantia LX HDi110) and a grand more on their own site (Xantia HDi Forte 90), with photo of the vehicle at the inflated price!
  • Road sign madness 12 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Are all councils as road sign crazy as South Gloucestershire? There\'s some moron in the highways department who believes in littering the entire county with road signs. An example is one of the approaches to Chipping Sodbury which has 40 Limit, then 30 Limit, roundabout with associated direction signage and \'this is a roundabout\' sign plus a plethora of signs saying there\'s a weak bridge with a weight limit ahead, all within a short space.
  • 150mph for 25 quid. 10 Apr 2002 (Forum)
This week they found a 25 quid XJS and got 149 out of it. Fantastic article. It reminded me of the epic motorcycle journeys & tests of the 30's and 50's where bikes we're tested at high speed over long distance and it wasn't a foregone conclusion that is was both safe and achievable. The only way they could have improved the article would have been if the 149 had been clocked on a public single carriageway 'A' Road. ;-) As road tests of yesteryear were.
