  Cos I just left our old girl into the usually very busy local reputable independent I use. Employes a recptionist & 3 or 4 mechanics plus still on the tools himself. It was EMPTY, except for our car So I asked, yes virtually no work on, he considers himself lucky that he has a paint oven because bodywork is all he is getting.

  Advice needed. The car is barely 6 months old, but in the past 2 months the ABS warning light has come on 3 times, most recently today. In all 3 instances, it has been a case of the light not going out after the car has been started.

  Several months ago my sons g/f crashed her 2 months old Mini and wrote it off. Her fault no third party involved. Insured fully comp. so not a problem. A week after the crash she got offered a new job with a company car. The insurance company have said that they will replace the crashed Mini with a brand new Mini, no cash settlement instead.

  Some of my friends have children of varying ages from 1 to 8 years old. Some of them do not own a car and sometimes I do carry their children in my car without any child seat (short distances within town, not on motorways) [1] Am I breaking the law? Can I be prosecuted?

  I guess it had to happen, ive managed to crunch to misses car. Downhill out the village, the old Astra infront of me stuffed it in the verge, got out and promptly did it again 20m further one and the second time I couldnt avoid him, no grip at all. Managed to just glance off it cracking the Sirions bumper, creasing the wing and scratching headlamp.

  diagnosis..needs new high pressure fuel pump..bought one same problem.no fuel coming out of pump.ihad old pump off car,spun the pump sprocket,a jet of fuel came out.the replacement one done the same.but, fit it to the car,nothing..not even a drip comes out..took off fuel feed hose from filter to pump ,switched on ign,a fountain of fuel comes out.so fuel is going into pump but why is it not coming out....does anyone have a clue ?..

  Hi all, I'm a long time reader but first time poster here! I was just thinking today whether it's a good time to be buying a used car with the credit crunch going on and the likes? I've been thinking about changing my car for a while now and am looking for a diesel estate that I can fit a couple of bikes in the boot of, I'm currently thinking of a Peugeot 307SW.

  My 5-year-old Focus has just been serviced and I was surprised to be advised that the sump was rusting and might only last another year before it started leaking. Was I being naive in expecting it to last for the car's lifetime?

  The unit is a blaupunkt radio cd (sorry there are no model numbers). If it helps, its a "double height" unit, that plays mp3 cds, and also has LW - so I pinch the car when Test Match Special is on ! The car is three moths old, so I don't want to maul about with taking things apart too much. Is there a socket lurking somewhere (behind glovebox?) that will be easy to access ?

  When I hit the throttle hard, at the point when the turbo kicks in and she takes off (and she does) the smoke behind would do a battleship justice, im getting 45+ mpg, but i cant accept this smoke, whats the likeliest problem? or is a diagnostic the only way? i assume you cant turn the pump up/down like my old monetgo! cheers car is 04 reg with under 80K on the clock, a FSH and last serviced by Ford 400 miles ago, ex-Lex car so id assume serviced to death.

  Discussion the other day following a tale in which two of the local young ungodly, out on a spree, took and burned out three cars, took and abandoned a fourth, and tried to get away with three more - all in the space of between midnight and 7 am (where do they get the energy?). Point 1: these dears are perhaps doing a service by tidying up old bangers.

  Or is this showing my age and being slightly OCD? The reason I ask is that one of my neighbours has an eight year old Vectra, which he has owned for five years. The weekly mileage is about 9 (!) taking in three short journeys. With their annual holiday the yearly mileage is below 1,000! To \my knowledge the oil has been in the car for over three years and it is still on the original cambelt.
