Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 speedometer 23 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I run a 2002 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec 5 door hatch with 86000 miles covered. Recently the speedo has started to "flicker "occasionally between 50 - 70 mph. Is the speed sensor on its last legs, or is it something else? -

Air Conditioning - Renault Megane 1.5 DC 2 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Does anyone know if it is possible to do some work on the air conditioning system, it seems that my one is not running to performance and I have been told that it might be worthwhile cleaning the air filter and topping up the airconditioning. However it was muted that this needs to be done by an engineer. Does anyone know where I can get some information on the procedure -
Vauxhall Astra 1.8 sport 1998 16 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Can anyone help? 3 problems: 1.Very uneven running at steady low speed e.g. 30mph. 2. Keeps stalling when coming to stop, idle drops too far, 3. Airbag warning light, how is this reset (without going to dealer!). With respect to 2. the car has the idle control valve integrated with the throttle body. -
Golf GTI W12-650 - I want one 19 May 2007 (Forum)
www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/225689/ They won't produce it but I bet it not only would give the Porsche 911 Turbo a run for the money (as mentioned in the article) but I doubt if would cost as much as the 911 either. -
ford focus timing belt 10 Apr 2007 (Forum)
There appears to be confusion as to when to renew the timing belt on a mk 1 Focus. I run a 51reg 1.6 zetec and my Ford dealer does not give a definitive answer. The book says 100,000 miles and other "experts" say 60 - 80.000 miles. My car has completed 81,000 miles. So what do contributors to this site have to say please? -

Boy Racer Exhausts 15 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Surely, it's just a matter of a noise meter and a man with a clipboard? Sure, I like automotive noise, having run bikes in the past, but these 9-inch diameter things are just selfish and pointless. Suggestions welcomed! rg -

Recently got an R reg 1.4 fiesta zetec .Runs fine but has a vibration only when accelerating.Happens in all gears around 3000 upwards. Only happens when accelerating. Xantia heater 8 Feb 2007 (Forum)
The air blows luke warm even when the engine has warmed up. Why? Also, during running on the motorway the temperature guage reads a steady 70 degrees. Is this normal. I always thought the needle ought to be in the middle i.e. 80 degrees When I slow down or stop the needle creeps up, and then goes down to 70 at speed. -
oil turns to coal in sump 31 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Well not quite ;) Question, Has anyone seen any evidence of sludging or long term extra wear running modern service intervals? I`m thinking of the 12/18months 20,000 mile ones and with particular reference to the filter element being visible to inspect on most new cars. It was this link from the USA that interested me. -
Freelander & heated mirrors 30 Jan 2007 (Forum)
According to the manual, they are on the same fuse as the rear washer, so I can't just pull the fuse. Not a major issue, but it seems stupid running around in the summer with heated mirrors. Any ideas/coments? (short of cutting the wire please). Johnny -
Sleepless night for this guy 6 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I was delivering goods on a fairly run down estate today and there was a young guy lying under a Corsa doing some welding with an arc welder. During the fifteen or so minutes I was there he was working away quite happily, taking great care with his efforts. -

Selling faulty car 27 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Is there a place where one can sell such cars or somewhere that it could be advertised. Clearly it cannot be sold in the normal way because it will not run properly. The car is 2003 Mondeo with diesel engine 74300 miles. -
Fiat Brava stalling 6 Nov 2006 (Forum)
This will happen intermittently, perhaps every few minutes. It can be restarted with no problem. A clue to the problem might lie in the fact that it runs roughly and surges when started from cold, as though overfuelling. This disappears after a few minutes. Any ideas chaps? -
Vauxhall Signum V6 Petrol 11 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I have seen one for sale at a very reasonable price and if mpg was in the mid 20s then whole life costs wouldn't be much different to the Passat tdi we have run for the last number of years. Thanks in advance -
