  Hi everyone, I'm looking for something under £4,000 and I'd like something with a bit of style. The reason I'm looking at BMW/Merc/Lexus is for reasons of build quality and reliability. I can't afford to buy something that will constantly cost me money so a big thirsty engine is probably not what I want. If anyone can suggest other ultra-reliable makes (VW) go ahead!

  Having had a company car for the last 15 years a change of job means I need to purchase my next car. I am looking at 2.0L diesel either an Audi A4 S-Line or a BMW M-Sport.  I am looking to spend around £18k. So how much can I realistically expect to haggle off the cost of a car in this price bracket when buying from a dealer? Constructive advice gratefully received guys.

   Looks like it should be fairly easy but I don't want to force trim off and end up snapping clips. Or if anyone has any idea which section of the BMW TIS Software I can find this in that would be helpful, i've spent ages looking but it doesn't seem to be there. Thanks, Adam

  I have a mini cooper 06 which has done about 27K miles.  Last month the coolant started leaking and recently BMW found the thermostat + thermostat housing was at fault. This was replaced by BMW and the coolant level on the day was topped up to max. It has only been a week since all this and already the coolant level has dropped to minimum!

  Why don't BMW and M-B bring the 4wd versions of their saloons/estates to the UK? In other parts of the world there are E Class, S Class, 3 and 5 series with 4wd, but not here. Is it that the cars would be too expensive for the market, LHD/RHD integration problems or not wanting to cannibalise sales of X3,X5 and ML?

  I have just purchased a BMW 118i from {snip, no need to name them as irrelevant to question being asked} first registered 9/07, mileage 20,000. Checking the service book properly at home the first service was carried out in April 09 after 18,000 miles.

  Just bought a BMW 318SE Auto petrol from a Car supermarket in west London. When car is idle .. below 1,000 rpm I could hear a kind of clunky or diesel sound coming from the engine. the car does have a full service history.

  Hi all, Can anyone who has access to old Glasse's guides please tell me what the book drop is on the following car over the last 6 or so months? BMW Z4 2.5 Auto 2003 03, 17K miles. Showroom condition. I'm trying to persuade my dad to lease me his as it sits around doing nothing nearly all of the time and I figure that I could put it to good use but I would need to know roughly how much it was dropping by!

  Greetings. I have just purchased an Oxford Green BMW 728i from a country house in Cambridgeshire. It has 1478 miles on the clock and has been covered up sinse 1997 when it was just a year old. It is in showroom condition but the reason it was stood up by folk with more money than sence was it was grounded on a high kerb and has a tiny leak on the seam of the tank.

  Hi i am having a problem with Fuel intake on a BMW 318i (96). I recently ran low on petrol, the petrol light had been on for about 15- 20 miles. Any ways it would not start and was just juddering, then stallign if i applied the accelerator. I then refueled using cans (the gauge reads just under half a tank!)

  I recently had an extremely small altercation with a BMW 1 series in the car park at work, resulting in VERY minor scuffing to my VW Touareg bumper and to the BMW front wheel arch. Like an idiot (not really) I 'fessed up and the quote from BMW came in at a grand....

  All, Recently bought a BMW 318i with 46k miles. Its been fine but recently noticed when it warms up it seems to alternate between 1000 revs and 1500 revs. This is not very noticeable when driving but in traffic its quite noticeable.

  I know research before replacing the phone might have been a good idea but both support Bluetooth 2.0 - the fact that they do not communicate is infuriating. Any tips on where to go, who to ask? BMW & Nokia seem to shrug their shoulders

  When my BMW 325tds is cold it starts really well but when it's warm it takes several turns and up to 8-10 seconds of turning it over to start up. The warmer it is the worse it is at starting basically, so if I let it cool down for a couple of hours it starts alright again.

  The starter initially tried to start the car but after say 5/6 attempts the engine no longer turned over. The car is 1995 with 104k and full BMW service history the most recent completed 3 weeks ago. Could this be a Nikasil issue?

  Evening all, can anyone tell me if its worth purchashing 5 series BMW on a 92 plate upwards for about 1300 quid, was looking at a 525i or something. Think they look great but had one a long time ago and the thing had that over heating problem. Which think was a cracked cyclinder head.

  Hi Is anyone aware of the new condition based servicing requirements of newer BMWs . Just bought new shape 2005 3 series with 8800 miles, genuine. Will be coming up to first service, after 2 years. Dashboard computer states oil change needed now (May2005 or 14,000 miles), along with air microfilter. however also has a sign stating front brake pads at 9000 miles.

  Been offered a M reg 525 TD BMW Touring with history, Boston Green, 130,000 miles, good all round with full MOT, around £1800.00. Anything to look out for with this model - do you have any owner advice, or opinions? Reliable? Thirsty?
