97 728i - very low mileage sale - how much ? - CaptnHB
Greetings. I have just purchased an Oxford Green BMW 728i from a country house in Cambridgeshire. It has 1478 miles on the clock and has been covered up sinse 1997 when it was just a year old. It is in showroom condition but the reason it was stood up by folk with more money than sence was it was grounded on a high kerb and has a tiny leak on the seam of the tank. I've been offered £5k for it. Does anyone think this is a good deal?

Depends how much you paid for it? If you paid a grand then yes, if you paid ten grand then no?

If it literally hasn't been driven in 11 years I would say seriously consider anything over breaking even...

Do these have a timing belt or chain?

5k is not a lot of money for a tasty old 7 series in what should be like new condition, sounds good to me.If i was going to use it i would just give it a decent service, change fluids etc.

There will be a lot of work on re-commissioning it, tyres, hoses all the perishable stuff. I would bung it on E-Bay and see what it does. Put it on a reserve.

I would accept that offer of 5k and get rid of ASAP, too many potential problems await the owner of that car. It could be very good but if not it could be a moneypit.
