  • Morrisons supermarkets and fuel price increases. 13 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Morrison's always seem to be the one that has pump price increases first. The largest increase has been on LPG. It has gone from 44.9 to an average of 53.9 in a matter of weeks - all because Morrisons first increased their pump price giving the competition an open door to match their corporate greed. I wrote to Morrison's asking them to justify why they are managing their fuel prices above those of other vendors.
  • Can you recommend a suitable car? 30 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Air conditioning and central locking. We have no real preference regarding fuel type, but shy away from LPG due to its scarcity in this part of Kent. A 'car' would be preferred as opposed to a 'van' or 'minibus' style vehicle. Before somebody recommends a Discovery or Shogun, Range Rover, Land Cruiser, etc...they all fail on headroom.
  • X5 Depreciation 27 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I hope they would their value well from now expecially being the cheapest entry into X5 land. Any one heard of LPG conversions on the 4.4 that would double effective MPG subject to Gordon! Thanks, Ian
  • Omega queries 5 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Is my car's mpg about right or heavy? Also because of the consumption I'm thinking of converting to LPG. I've done the maths and anticipate a payback period of about 14months which is fine as I love the car and intend to keep it for much longer than that. Does anybody have any advice to assist? I've done a bit of searching for help elsewhere but you chaps seem to be the most knowledgeable.
  • Hyundai Tucson 2016 1.6 - Do I need a new engine? 2 Nov 2020 (Forum)
It drove OK and I wasn't getting any engine lights on dashboard. Still being in warranty, I took it to Macklin Motors Hyundai but they will not fix as it has an LPG conversion and the first service was late by the first owner. They charged me £252 for diagnosis and told me the following: "Low compression in cylinder 1 and excessive carbon build up on piston 1 and 3.
  • Landrover Discovery - Best 4WD for new job! 28 Nov 2012 (Forum)
May need to carry some equipment as I will also be doing County Shows/Fairs. Also want to know if a LPG converted Disco is worth looking at? And where would I find one? Is there anything else I should look at? Budget 10-15k. Thanks
  • Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - Quite fancy one - any tips ? 3 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Or doesn't it make any difference? I see there was a 1.4 petrol and I can only imagine it was dire - anyone had one? Was the LPG conversion any good. I'm not going to do a mega-mileage so could stand it being petrol but generally prefer diesels. I don't care how slow it is really. Have driven the HDI (which is lovely) and XUD (which is slow and thirsty but perfectly adequate) versions.
  • Mondeo mk3 estate or Landcruiser Colorado? 13 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The car consistently does around 22-23mpg on petrol and about 19-20mpg on LPG. It currently has around 9 months MoT. Given that the Mondeo has a couple of faults - the starter can be replaced for £150, though the 3rd gear syncro will need more, selling it "as is" may become an issue.
  • A few days in China, cars, pollution, perspective 26 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Really enjoyed just piling into the back of those Toyota Crown Taxis (not driving for once) that are running on LPG. There`s a small mountain to climb between the airport and hotel, near the ferry terminal at the other side of the island and the screaming max revs in second gear (obviously the norm) made me wonder how the engine survived one trip, when it had been doing this route for years.

  • Toyota Avensis, Honda Accord - Auto Avensis, Accord or something else for <£3k 12 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I am planning to keep the car until it runs out of steam completely so am not worried too much about resale value. So far, I am thinking of buying a large engined petrol and then converting it to LPG after a few months. That will help me spread the initial cost and also see if I like the car before spending dough on the conversion.  Options: 04-06 Avensis Auto (1.8, 2.0 or 2.4 and not sure of exactly which gearbox) 03-06 Honda Accord (2.0 or 2.4ltr Exec) Can anybody advise which I should get and why?
  • Nissan X-Trail (2001 - 2007) - 03 2.5 Auto stalling problem 11 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I have a stalling problem with my X-Trail which I hope someone may be able to help. The local dealer cannot work out what is wrong. It is a 2.5 SVE 2003 auto X-Trail. It has had a LPG gas conversion, but the problem happens whether running under petrol or gas. The car start OK in the morning OK but after 2-3 mins it cuts outs if you take your foot off the throttle. You loose the brakes and the steering is hard, so a bit risky.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - RE: Gendan code reader thread. 9 Jun 2008 (Forum)
You (and Gendan) saved me a lot of time, fiddling about but more importantly - money. My car is a Vauxhall 2003 Astra estate 1.6 (Z16XE engine) bi fuel (LPG/Petrol). I went with the Vauxcheck, Enginecheck and ELM327 USB interface and it pulled up 4 codes all relating to the EGR valve having (once more) failed. It also gave me a 'pending' fault of the coil pack being on its way out.
  • congestion charge discount 20 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Does anyone have any idea what is exempt or partially exempt, and whether any such vehicles are obtainable for reasonable money? What about those Vauxhall factory LPG conversions? I've read quite a bit of carping about them on this site. My instinct is that a Mk 1 Prius (for example) would be expensive and troublesome. Can anyone contradict this authoritatively?
  • Rover 25 1.6 2003 - Reverse gear grind help 24 Jun 2014 (Forum)
I have been told it is just the abs kicking in when the wheels detect the road surface is uneven.is this the problem or is it something else. And finally as the car is an LPG car as well , I am planning to replace the spark plugs as it has been 25k miles since last changed by previous owner. I have been told to use NGK spark plugs , now do the spark plugs need to be iridium coated, platinum or copper will do?
  • Vauxhall Monterey transmission judder 26 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Hello, wonder if anybody can help with a problem thats got my garage baffled and me going crazy! Vehicle: Vauxhall Monterey 3.2 Petrol Auto Diamond LWB. 1996 (N) 92,000. Converted to LPG. Towbar fitted and certainly used by previous owner Problem: Vibration, shudder, thrash, rhythmic knocking or throbbing in transmission on take off and at low speeds. Appears to come from beneath driver seat/to rear of car but can also be felt slightly in steering.
  • Powershift List Eligibilty 20 Nov 2006 (Forum)
For a car to be exempt it has to be on the Energy Saving Trust Powershift List. This list includes cars such as certain LPG conversions, all-electric cars and all Honda, Toyota and Lexus hybrids. This got me thinking. Why are Lexus hybrids on the list? They are both large cars that emit more CO2 than many smaller cars that aren't on the list.
  • 4 x 4 advice 2 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I have looked at the verdict on the Disovery and this would at first put me off buying one... but now the new type is out I'm guessing there will be plenty of the old type for sale soon and wonder if a second-hand model could be picked up with all the faults fixed and ironed out. It must be an auto and I would prefer it to be diesel/LPG. The budget is 7-8 thousand, also I would expect to run it for about 5 years at 12 thousand miles per year. We have kids and all the in-car-junk and abuse that this involves so it wouldn't have to be perfect, the most important question is over the maintenace of it: I don't want to spend thousands keeping the thing on the road and if I can't get a good one without the hassle we can have something else, it doesn't have to be a discovery.
  • Running diesels on Gas (Update) 14 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Following on from previous questions about using LPG in diesel engines I saw the following today in 'Professional Engineering'. Referes to natural gas, but there are obvious parallels. 'Engineers at Ford's Dunton Engineering Centre are evaluating a prototype Ford Focus believed to be the world's first car to use natural gas with a diesel cycle engine.
