  For years my son has claimed the performance and fuel economy of his 05 Ka significantly worsens when the level in the coolant reservoir drops below the minimum (even though it's not empty). Although not pretending to be smart enough to understand this, I can't see any reason why this should be... yes, I can see how performance and fuel economy can vary for a variety of reasons (including faulty sensors/electronics), but not related to the level in the coolant reservoir.

  Nowhere does it warn that I need a special fluid. The only reference I can find is that de-mineralized water and ethylene-glycol base coolant must be used. I should add that I live in Israel where it rarely, if ever, goes below zeo. If you have any better information - please share.

  Strange this is... my TDI golf flashed a warning to stop and check coolant. the engine temp was near the 130 mark. pulled over and put the heater on max and the fan too to try and help cool the car. looking under the bonnet at the expansion tank and it was full to bursting!

  Hi, I've been wondering about this for some time and having tried various googles haven't come up with an answer. When my C5 (engine code DW10ATED) had it's diagnostic codes read it came up with a coolant sensor fault. I think it was 'P1116 Engine Coolant sensor out of range'. So my question is this, why is this fault showing if the temperature gauge on the dash seemingly works OK, are there different sensors for the gauge and the ECU?

  Hi everyone, I need to buy a new expansion bottle coolant level sensor but not sure which one to buy??? Local parts shop had one but it didn’t fit, now saying to find the part number??? How can I find out which one I need??!

  i have a nissan micra 1986 k10 starts ok but when warms up approx 3 mins revs drop then stalls will not start till engine cools have been told this is a famous problem and to replace the coolant temp sensor is this true and if so where do i find said sensor in the engine compartment

  hi , ive a slight leak from a hairline crack just on the water level line on the coolant tank , and i,m finding it hard to get anything to stick to this type of plastic that will cope with the heat and presure tried hot melt glue .. areldite ..superglue can anyone recomend something that will cope .....

  I've a 2006 Seat Ibiza Stylance, 1390CC Petrol, 5DR, Manual which has a slow coolant leak. Loses about 750ml after a 3 or 4 short runs 3-4 miles or after a long run > 30 miles. Can't see any puddles or any visible wet patches. It's done about 45,000 miles. Any suggestions as to how to locate the problem?

  I have a 2004 2.0l FSI Golf and need to order some coolant and LONG LIFE oil. I'd like to get it on line, if I can, to save trekking to a dealer. Does anybody know: a) Who sells it on line b) what grades i need - I do not have the handbook handy and have forgotten the specs.

  Wife's Saxo diesel needs topping up with coolant now and again. I cannot see any evidence of where it might be dripping from underneath the car, but at the back of the radiator the top corner has grown a bit of a blue fur coat. Am I right in thinking this is anti-freeze and this is where the problem is?

  Having a problem with an "S" reg MGF When the engine is warm and you're idling in traffic, the coolant is being forced out of the expansion chamber. The car isn't overheating because the it doesn't feel too hot and the fan isn't coming on. Rover say that it needs a new engine and that this is a common problem.

  Pulled over and discovered one of my hoses has a pin hole leak. The leak was spraying onto the engine causing the steam. The coolant was also spraying over the alternator. Should i be worried about damage to the alternator? Ross

  I currently drive a 1994 Pug 306 1.9 Turbo Diesel with 149k on the clock and over the last month or so I've been experiencing coolant loss through excessive pressure. There is pressure in the system even 2 hours after finishing a long journey as when i remove the pressure cap there is a huge gush of water. Also I've noticed that the coolant is very foamy.

  Hi All I have a coolant leak first noticed had to 500ml in topping it up to max, then 250ml the next day  and every 2 days or so its below min and have to top up. I cannot see any leak. its a BMW X1 1.5 petrol I cannot get it into the dealers for 3 weeks so having to keep topping up  any ideas pleas whats wrong

  The amber check light came on just as I parked outside my house just now… The diagnostic said Engine coolant sensor? What does this mean what will happen will the car overheat On my way to work tomorrow morning or should I not drive it? Help does anyone no what that Message means
