    The 17k mile 04 reg Smart Roadster Coupe in the photo was loaded with option book goodies, including the £655 Sport Pack of steering wheel paddleshifts, three spoke sports steering wheel and 16” 3-spoke Spikeline alloy wheels with 205/45 R16 tyre, plus a CD player, plus aircon, plus heated seats, plus metallic paint, and only lacking the optional electric hood. Original list would have been an eye watering £16,470, so sold for £8,600 it was an almost half price bargain.
  • James Hunt tribute set for this year's Silverstone Classic 28 Apr 2016 (News)
    It was a dramatic feat that was turned into the plot of the award-winning movie Rush. Hunt passed away in 1993 at the age of 45, but the legend lives on and the 40th anniversary of his crowning achievement. Freddie Hunt with some of the cars from the James Hunt collection.
  • 302-mile Mini van set to make £25k at auction 13 Mar 2015 (News)
    Bought for £400 by a Miss G Crumcott from Northern Ireland so that she could learn to drive, Miss Crumcott never passed her test and so the Mini was left in a garage for 30 years. BMC Mini dealer, Mr T. Turkington bought the car in 1997 and placed it in his showroom until 2006 before selling it onto another collector in Northamptonshire.
  • Young Driver Training Vital in Improving Road Safety 7 Dec 2011 (News)
    Road safety minister Mike Penning made an honest and passionate speech about ways to improve the driving of young people new to the roads.  The UK Driving Test, he said, was no longer "fit for purpose", and Pass Plus was only reducing crashes by young drivers by 1%. What is needed is better training towards a more realistic test, and post-test continued education of young drivers in order to instill in them the basic skills, observation and defensive driving techniques to survive unscathed on our increasingly congested roads.
  • Calls for motorway training to be added to driving test 11 Mar 2011 (News)
    Motorway training should be integrated into the driving test to help improve the general standard of driving, according to the Driving Instructors Association which also wants the current Pass Plus scheme integrated into the driving test syllabus. The DIA is the UK's largest body representing professional driver trainers and says those applying for a driving test should only be allowed to do so once instructors are confident that candidates have sufficient experience of driving on all the types of road they will encounter when they have a full licence.

    The total cost of congestion is calculated from direct costs, relating to fuel and time wasted, plus indirect costs relating to business fees from company vehicles idling in traffic, which are passed on to household bills through higher prices. Unsurprisingly, London remains the UK's most congested city, ranking second in Europe, with drivers spending an average of 13 per cent of their total drive time stuck in traffic.  Drivers in London pay almost double the national figure, with £1911 each, and spend an average of 73 hours per year in gridlock.
