Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 05 2.2 Misfueled with 3.4 litres of petrol 18 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hello Everybody This evening I misfueled my Mondy diesel - I added 3.4 litres of unleaded in error ! A couple of technicians from a Mercedese garage next door thought that it would be ok if I brimed the tank with diesel. I therefore took their advice and used BP Ultimate Diesel and added half a bottle of Millers (thinking I needed as much lubricant as possible). -

Honest John’s Motoring Agony Column 24-06-2017 Part 2 26 Jun 2017 (Forum)
I'm intrigued how the Mitsubishi PHEV owner managed to misfuel with diesel into his petrol tank. Tens of thousands of people a year misfuel petrol into diesel, but only about 4 people a year manage to get diesel into a petrol car, because the diesel fuelling nozzle won't fit (you have to be REALLY determined and dribble the fuel in). -

C`Rail misfueling Engineers solutions? 18 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Question, What is a global solution to common rail diesels being misfueled? (With emphasis to elegant mechanical/electrical engineering rather than ( for example) a triangular *cat flap* on the filler neck and matching pump, oh, and with just a nod to occam`s razor :) Some suggested parameters It needs to work anywhere, not just a UK solution, so its ok at that rural garage in France and over the EU borders. -

Please also take the trouble to reply and update the thread as to the eventual outcome (and possibly proffer thanks if the advice has been helpful)' This post is prompted by curiosity as to outcomes, and by a recent post from a motorist asking for advice re misfuelling - but eventually checked that she hadn't actually misfuelled! -

Which device to prevent misfuelling? 13 Jan 2017 (Forum)
At £40 it's rather expensive for a small piece of moulded plastic, but since the cost of a misfuelling is so high it seems worth it even at that price. I'm sure that with a bit of competition and increased production volumes, the cost of this sort of gadget will come down in price a lot, but I want one now. -
Citroen C Crosser 4x4 2,2 Diesel - Car Hesitating on reapplication of throttle 8 Apr 2013 (Forum)
My car has been hesitating badly since I misfuelled with unleaded. I only drove 200m before parking up to go shopping - afterwhich the car would not restart. Called out the Fuel Doctor who completely drained down the tank and got the car started on diesel again. -
Hyundai Bayon - New car misfuel advice 16 Mar 2024 (Forum)
Drove home 110 miles, left it a few days before travelling on holiday did another 150 miles, with no performance issues and very good mpg numbers... when the engine failed, got towed back to my local dealer, and they have diagnosed a misfuel (diesel in petrol tank). I have a receipt to say I filled up with petrol, dealer is saying they did not put any fuel in and suggest i contact Hyundai UK. The fuel sample has not yet been sent off for analysis but currently the fuel system has been flushed, cleaned and I needed a new fuel injector on cylinder 2. -
Land Rover Discovery 4 - Restricted performance 25 Sep 2015 (Forum)
This time the dealership have replaced the "fuel rail pressure", but it has happened again. One question the LR garage keep asking is has the car ever been misfuelled? - Not in our ownership of the last 9 months or so and hitherto we have had 5,000 miles or so of completely untroubled motoring - never misfired our even the suggestion of such. The six month RAC warranty we had when we acquired it has expired, but that aside we find it baffling that the LR garage keep suggesting it has been misfuelled given its performance over the last 9 months. -
Fuel Can Nozzle Size - for diesels 1 Jul 2020 (Forum)
When I tour the remoter parts of Scotland I usually take 2x 10 litre steel cans with extra diesel which gives me longer range between fill-ups - but my new(ish) VW Touareg has a "misfuel prevention" device in the fuel filler which requires a 25mm nozzle, no more no less - this is the size that all car and HGV diesel pumps are in UK so not a problem at the filling station but my existing spare fuel cans have nozzles which are too small to operate the misfuel device. -

Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) - Misfuelling - how to prove a negative? 13 Feb 2008 (Forum)
My stress levels have just gone through the roof though, as I?ve just spoken to someone at the dealers who have the car, and they are investigating misfuelling as the most likely candidate. Now, I have checked the last three tanks as I?ve got the receipts with me, and I?ve put diesel in both times. All but one of the last 40-50 tanks have been from the same Shell station, and I can provide receipts for all of them. -
Diesels risks/costs widening on petrol? 13 Jul 2007 (Forum)
But how many will know that outside an enthusiasts forum like HJ? You can bet a *lot* of cars are going to get it. Now add on the petrol misfueling, some getting cooking oil, then increasing complexity and repair cost of diesels. Is owning diesel, in particular buying used, even less viable from a cost/risk perspective as every year passes? -
Audible warning for diesel fillers? 13 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Joking aside, was this a genuine device and if so anyone know where they can be bought? We have recently had three of our company car drivers misfuel cars with the corresponding onconvenience and expense of putting this right. Thanks Andrew
