hi i have a car with £1335 outstanding finance the car is worth £750 at best. my options where voluntary termination finance which will be bad credit rating or pay off the finaince.   i am with moneyway,i rang them up and all they give me was a sort code and account number to send £1335.Does this seem right for a finance company to be payed like this and not over the phone he said its to large amount over the phone im just sceptical any advice on the matter would be much appreciated.
  • Written Off Car - Finance Position ? 19 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I have bought a car from a private seller as a total loss (cat d) with engineers report. The car is a cat d but i have just done a HPI that came down as finance owed (don't know how much as they could not tell me, due to data protection) As this car is a total loss will the previous sellers insurance pay the finance company when paying for the car?? and will the finance company take back the car even though its severly damaged??

  • Hpi - outstanding finance, multiple reg plates?.. 29 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi guys, Just did a HPi check on a car i'm buying (not paid for it yet). It states the car does not have outstanding finance, but a previous private reg does. The car's a CAT D write off, and the original reg was put on the car when it was written off. If the personalised reg is taken off a car, which has finance, does the finance relate purely to that personalised reg??
  • Car finance for damaged repaired car 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have seen a car that I want to buy however it was once damaged but has now been repaired. It is recorded on the VCAR register. Could I still get finance for this car as I've been told that there are some companies that offer finance on damaged repaired cars. If this is true does anyone know of any companies. Thanks

Is it me or are dealers more interested in PCPs and other finance deals than actually selling the cars? There is more blurb on deals in the ads than blurb on the cars.

  • Financing through a dealer 8 Aug 2002 (Forum)
I phoned the dealership to tell them I had found a better offer and didn't want the finance, they obviously were not happy and started to tell me that they had done a deal on the body kit as I was taking out finance with them, However finance had not been mentioned when he told us the price on the body kit, although the saleman knew we were going to take some kind of finance out.
  • Very Nasty Shock 30 May 2001 (Forum)
The person selling the car still owed HP on it, and promised my father that he would settle the outstanding finance when cashing the bankers draft (my father would have provided 2, one for the finance agreement the other for the balance for the owner, except he only told him about the finance after he had drawn the drafts from the bank and therefore only drew 1 cheque).

How do I go about ensuring the finance gets paid off? Do I get the draft written to his lender instead of him? Thanks, Guy

  • Question about finance 13 May 2007 (Forum)
Can anyone give me a reason as to why my dealer will not allow me to apply for finance if I am only a provisional Licence holder? Surely If my credit rating is good there should be no problem with this.
  • Outstanding finance. 28 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Here's a question for the legally minded, among you: If you buy a car with outstanding finance (hire purchase), are you (the new owner) liable for paying it off? Do you even own the car you've just bought?

  • Mercedes Benz S-Class W220 (1999 - 2005) - Removing Car from Finance Register Nightmare 17 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I bought a Mercedes from BCA Blackbushe and it came up as owing finance as its previous cherished plate now sits on another car which was bought on finance. I thought nothing of it as the HPi check clearly states the car on finance is a different one to mine. Unfortunately the Merc is too big for my girlfriend and I've had literally no calls from Auto Trader ads or eBay so I decided to enter the car into my local Manheim auction.
