  Hi everyone   As the title suggests, anyone had a DMF & clutch replacement on Merseyside that they would recommended?   My car is an 07 plate Mk5 GT TDI 140 with a BKD engine. My DMF sounds like a brick in a washing machine! Drives great apart from the noise and engine wobble on tickover.

  Hello all, Dmf s seem to get a lot of bad press these days, as the owner of two diesel cars which are both under warranty what signs are there to indicate a failing dmf. I was pleased to note that the vauxhall salesman from which the diesel corsa came from went to great lengths to highlight the issues with modern diesels before selling it to me.

  Can anyone tell me if my 2007 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI has a DMF or not? I can't seem to find anywhere that specifies this. I've got the latest Haynes manual, and it simply says some models have the DMF, others have another type of sprung flywheel. My old 2002 1.8 TDDI Focus had a standard flywheel but I guess its not the same as that.

  I have a 2005 mondeo TDCi 130bhp. The dmf is worn, you can hear it and feel it through the clutch pedal and the idle is rough. I know if I want to keep the car I'll have to get the clutch and dmf replaced. 3 times in the last month whilst under acceleration the car has gone into limp mode (glow pug light flashing and no turbo boost.)

   Also the clutch that was removed confirmed this. Should I : a. Kepp the car as intended - the "risk" of another DMF failure is worth living with since its cheaper to replace than forking out for another new car b. Buy an Audi A4 S-Tronic. I was thinking the petrol TFSI to reduce the torque loading on the DMF c.

  Hi! In the future i will need a new flywheel for my car because the dmf has wear but still working , with no noise. As a user that had 3 DMF fail untill now, I can feel when the DMF is at its last. I found a Valeo conversion kit wich from what i've hear, it has no auto ajustable presure plate, springs on clutch disk.I think that means clutch pedal wont feel the same though the life span of the cluth disk as it wears out, and that realy doesent mater to me.

  £200 or a LuK for £100, chances are genuine one is probably made by LuK. or is there other brands to consider. and is changing the dmf a must when doing the clutch kit, surely if the dmf has no play or not damaged I should be able to use it again.  I do not want to go down the solid flywheel conversion route.

  hi i am new to this so here goes. i have a fiat scudo sx combi  1997 jtd 2004 reg. the clutch and dmf have packed in so i put it into my local garage in the hope that a solid flywheel and clutch could be fitted.i was told a solid flywheel was not avalible so told them to fit a dmf and clutch. i got a phone call back telling me that because my engine code is ...RHM/RMW the only place where i can buy a clutch kit dmf is from the fiat dealer. i need to know is this the case or is the parts ready available elsewhere and is there any way round this as the dealers price is more than the van is worth. please help  borderer1964

  Just renewed DMF on this car.  Original part number was GM 55562239 (Sachs) and the replacement P/N is GM 555576165.  Is there a difference?  Was this an upgrade?   Was there a problem with the initial type as there seem to be quite a few earlier model Insignias with clutch problems.

  At 55k I have been told that I need a new dual mass flywheel owing to starter motor failing to throw into the ring gear. My queries are 1)Should the bell housing be full of carbon dust from the dmf pads. 2) Should I be seeing metal to metal scuff marks just to the inside of where the carbons pads are located in in component. My dealership tells that the dmf is OK had it not marked the ring gear.

  I searched a few car parts website and there seems to be very little information to confirm if I have a DMF in the first place.   Could you car experts please help me with these three things here: 1. Confirm if I have a DMF? 2. If I have DMF, is this problem related to DMF?

  Clucth went quickly in my Mazda 6, still not got it looked at, will be a day or 2.   I want to replace my DMF (dual mass flywheel), clutch and slave cylinder on my 2009 Focus 1.8 TDCi (its done a lot of miles). I bought a DMF online, having given the car details and stated as being for 11/2004 onwards, they said it was LuK, it came in a LuK box, but inside the DMF was stamped Sachs!

  Hi ..... can any of the resident experts let me know how (if possible) you can tell a car has a DMF that is on the way out? Also anyone know how much you are talking to get one fixed if it self destructs ?

  Q3:is there any stats on DMF failures on Accords? I'm open to any feedback on the DMF topic as it's making my decision difficult, I want the CDTi but want to know how bad this problem is before buying one and using all my money up!

  It does sound a bit like an exhaust problem but that's been eliminated. My garage suggested I took it to a VW main dealer. They have diagnosed a faulty clutch, dmf and starter motor. Another independent garage said it was the dmf. My garage who fitted the new clutch in June last year doesn't  believe it could be the dmf.
