  • Car names 1 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I only know (but am sure there are more examples) of a name being used by more than one manufacturer. Maserati Bora VW Bora Is this strictly legal? How can such a beautiful car share its name with something so forgetable?

  • any - funny prang 30 May 2011 (Forum)
Cycling up a gentle hill in North London, traffic crawling on my right due to serious roadworks further on,   I admire a 10 reg Maserati drop top, driver on his handsfree. I'm bang between M&S and Waitrose   I then notice a car parked on the left begin to pull out, thinking ' they must stop ' they will stop, stop stop  !!
  • Vscc - Good day out 22 Jun 2003 (Forum)
In addition there were another dozen races of sports/racers going back to the '20s - loads of Ferrari 250s, Maseratis, Coopers, Cooper -Bristols, Connaughts etc. Tell you what, it was worth going for the engine noise alone, let alone the racing and a wander through the paddock. They certainly don't spare those old cars and for someone who remembers the change from front to rear engined GP cars it was wonderful to see a 1960 Ferrari 256 and the Maserati 250Fs battling with the Coopers and Lotuses.
  • AWD vs LSD 2 Jan 2022 (Forum)
How manufacturers determines when to put LSD vs AWD?  Typically LSD comes with some expensive cars (like Maserati Levante etc.).  Is LSD vs AWD decision is an engineering one or marketing one?

  • When is a fake not a fake? 20 Jun 2007 (Forum)
When it is an expensive ?authentic ?tool room copy?? apparently. There are a lot of expensive Bugattis, Maseratis and Jaguars created in the 1980?s on the market. Seemingly accepted by the FIA and VSCC as being eligible for competition. We had a 1929 Bugatti Type 35 entered on our historic vehicle club run this year.
  • Sports car fun for a year! 12 Feb 2006 (Forum)
The head says Porsche even though it is double the age and mileage. But the heart definetly says Maserati. If you were in my position, what would you do?
  • Really low prices for very new cars 20 Aug 2007 (Forum)
They seem to be all over the country - except the phone numbers are all Liverpool disguised partly by the spacing - e.g. 01512 XXXXXX Examples Lexus 350H 7,000mls 2006 @ £11K Maserati 2004 @ £11K BMW Z4 @ £11K If you want to see for yourselves leave all search criteria bland but teh Keyword Search 01512 - you will also get a few gebuine looing adverts as well but the "bargains stick out" from the rest
  • Good day out 14 Sep 2006 (Forum)
http://www.see-red.uk.com/races.asp I love the old racing/sports cars and to see (and hear!) those old Maserati 250Fs, Lancia D50s, Alfa 158s etc as well as the even earlier Bugattis, Talbots, Bentleys etc: it stirs the blood! You can also get into the pit area and see the cars at close quarters and have a chat with the owners/drivers Anyway, have a look at the site - I have no connection with the organisers, Donington Park etc, etc but it is a good day out!
  • Fiat-Alfa plans 22 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Chrylser to build chassis for Q5/Q7 SUV competitior with bodywork designed by Alfa. Also announced Maserati to make an M5 equivalent coming in at 50,000euro. If these are as good as the new Giulietta (which is receiving good reviews so far, which for an Alfa means it must be excellent!) then these are exciting times.....
  • Cars motoring press have got most right/wrong 5 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The ones I 'm curious about are: Focus mk1, mk2 - best balance of ride and handling, good diesels (agree) BMW 3 series/5 series - best balance of ride, handling and performance, good diesels (agree) Golf mk5 - best overall hatchback (disagree), good diesels (disagree) Maserati quattroporte - M5 rival (disagree) Skoda Octavia - build quality and value (agree) Mercedes - diesels highly rated but some posts mention about poor build and injector problems Focus ST - over-rated?
  • What should he buy? 23 Nov 2012 (Forum)
He is: - about 50, partner in large firm of international accountants, drives over the Pennines on the M62 each day but otherwise limited driving locally.  Does not want anyting flash despite having partners who do drive Maseratis etc.  He wants some thing that is comfortable, discreet, capable to tackling some tough winter weather over the top of the M62.  However, he will not buy a German badge for family reasons.
  • £8K repair bill. Blame the dog? 31 Mar 2006 (Forum)
"DJ Johnny Vaughan's dog Harvey crashed his Maserati supercar leaving him with a £8,000 repair bill. Harvey got his head wedged under the glove box on a trip back from the vets. Johnny moved into the passenger seat to prise him free but Harvey jumped across and hit the accelerator pedal.
  • Goodwood Festival of Speed 19 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I drove down on friday as the public were leaving and the last 20 miles had a constant stream of interesting cars coming the other way - Ferraris including an F40, Maseratis, TVRs, 7s, lots of vintage cars, and a Toyota iQ. I went with a friend who now lives nearby but has never been before, and whose interest in cars is limited, so I was uncertain how he would react.
  • Any - Supercars, abandoned 20 Aug 2019 (Forum)
In the yard in front of the house, there are some cars which look like they've been sat there for quite some time - none has ever changed position in the 3 or 4 years I've been using that route (which I do probably a dozen times per year). One of the cars is an early 2000s Maserati Quattroporte, just sitting on the long grass.  That was a £75K car when new, and now effectively just scrap. At my parents' flat, one of the parking spaces was occupied by an Aston DB7 for several years.
  • Mid Large Family Car 17 May 2022 (Forum)
So far, I can think of a Volvo S90 (a bit too big), Kia Stinger (a bit too flashy) or some kind of Maserati / Alfa (a bit too unreliable).  Any other ideas please? TIA
  • Advantages of Depreciation 29 Sep 2004 (Forum)
But, if you buy the right car, it could easliy lose £25k in a short space of time. Go for a classic depreciator - a big loaded 7 series BMW, say, or a Maserati. New, obviously. Bingo - when you depart this earth in 6-12 months time, your estate is now worth less than Gordon's limit so no IHT is payable. And the car can be sold on quickly to a dealer who will be happy to give you a nice low valuation in writing.
