No warning lights stayed on. Local VW service say there is nothing wrong! But the car now is worrying to drive in case this happens crossing in front of traffic or other dangerous situations. Car now drives normallly. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

  • Audi A6 3.0tdi Quattro Auto (2007) - Revs, Rising & Falling 3 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I have had the car for a week now, and have noticed that when I am driving at about 40 - 45 miles, and then release my foot off the accelerator, the rev's start to flicker up/down.     Its fine to drive, fine at idle its only when you release the accelerator pedal and let car slow down on its own speed.
  • Hyundai i10 - Goodbye VW hello Hyundai 22 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Also in the last few years the dealerships have gone downhill [ apart from mega chrome and glass showrooms of course] I have now ordered a Hyundai i10 Auto. This has an 'old fashioned 4 speed traditional box. If you want a small auto test drive one ! I know it is inefficient compared with an automated manual but wow what a smooth and refined drive ! It also looks really well built and read the reviews ! I am really looking forward to delivery.....
  • Saab - Changing a Car 10 Jul 2015 (Forum)
In the old days you could pitch up at a dealer, buy something, part exchange the old one, ring up broker and get insurance transferred on the spot. Then just drive home on the remanants of the old tax disc. Can't do that now. It's still possible to do the insurance transfer instantly, but how long does it take for this to be registered so that one can tax the new buggy before you drive off in it?
  • Are modern diesels too good? 2 Mar 2015 (Forum)
I'm fine with this as I know diesels like to be worked hard. Makes me wonder if modern hyper-diesels are their own worst enemy, good to drive at below 2000rpm if you want and barely ticking over at legal speeds. Mine is spinning at 4000rpm at 80mph and that will definitely 'blow the cobwebs out' (always drives better after a long hard run) They seem over-specified for what they end up doing, even motorway work only uses a fraction of the power except when overtaking.
  • Chrysler Grand Voyager 2007 - p1130 fault coad 20 Oct 2014 (Forum)
It has full service history and the stack of paper work that came with it shows every little thing done including bulbs that have been replaced.   It has been driving fine untill last night when the EML came on. The car still drives fine and no lack of power. I checked the fault coad witch is p1130 and relates to fuel rail pressure.  As said above it doesn't fell like anything is wrong.

  • Skoda Octavia 1.8T Elegance 4X4 5dr - Should I buy a Skoda Octavia 130k at £1000 1 May 2014 (Forum)
I've just had a look at a petrol 2002 Skoda Octavia 1.8T Elegance 4X4 5dr which has full service history with Skoda. It recently had its last MOT with no advisories. I had a chance to test drive it and am happy with the way it drives. I am concerned about the mileage (130000 miles) and don't want to end up spending loads on servicing it. How much life do you think it still has? Would you buy it?
  • MG ZT-T td 130 - Cooling system 21 Apr 2014 (Forum)
I have a 2005 MG ZT-T td 130 from new with 69,000 miles and until the last 3,000 or so the temperature guage has always read on the middle bar on the guage for all types of driving - Howver, once warm it tends to remain on the middle bar for normal driving but at motorway cruiing speed it dips to 1 bar below and remains consistant, moving back to the middle bar and never higher when back to slow speeds.
  • Small turbos? 2 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Is their performance that good and is their fuel consumption comparable to a normal engine? The only turbo I have driven is a Fiat TwinAir. I didn't really enjoy driving it and owners were reporting high fuel consumption. If I remember correctly you had to either completely abuse it for good performance (and high consumption) or you had to labour it and have no power, there seem to be nothing in the middle which is what I want for every day driving.

  • Estate, 4x4, - Cars for tall women 10 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I'm looking for a car to suit country roads (rural south devon) that occasionally flood.  I do a fair bit of motorway driving too, and need the capacity to transport 3 passengers (all over 6ft), a golden retriever and luggage.  There are a lot of cars I simply cannot drive due to the lack of allowance for long legs.
  • Any - Congestion will never be solved whilst ........... 10 Dec 2013 (Forum)
At one particularly busy roundabout, I thought I was going to have a seizure waiting behind this driver. Anyone would have thought they were driving a double decker bus on its side? When eventually there were no other vehicles in sight (from any direction), they pulled out. To put the tin hat on it they eventually signalled and turned left, but made a nice wide right sweep when starting their move, they obviusly thought they were driving a 40 foot artic at the time........grr.
  • Ford fiesta r reg - Fiesta fan blowing hot 30 Aug 2013 (Forum)

  • 2005 Volkswagen Polo 1.2 (9N) - Dodgy CV Joint? 23 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I can hear clunking coming from the driver's side, mainly when I reverse out of my driveway and turn into the road after the car has been parked overnight. It's fine during normal driving, apart from what I can only describe as a very slight wobble / shudder sometimes during braking and acceleration (not felt through the pedal or steering wheel). I've tried driving slowly in a circle with full lock on in both directions and in reverse, but the clunk is only there when the steering wheel is returning from full lock back to centre.

  • Opel senator - HJ classic adverts 22 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Odometer reads 12 thousand miles as does the MOT but I would guess this is 112 of paperwork no expense spared, MOT’ed and Taxed till July. Drive away today in this truly awesome car, Thank you . Lovely misspelling from an HJ classic advert .
