    Only two S76s were built by Fiat over the winter of 1910 and 1911 and the restored car is an amalgamation of them both. The rolling chassis originates from the earlier car, which set a new world flying mile record of 116mph at Saltburn Sands, Yorkshire in 1911, while the engine comes from the second car, the rest of which was scrapped by Fiat after the First World War.

  • Duesenberg leads the way as Danish collection makes £16m 29 Sep 2015 (News)
    A 1930 Duesenberg Model J sold for £1.8m at auction at the weekend as the much-anticipated Frederiksen collection went under the hammer. The car, a ‘Disappearing Top Roadster’, was sold to a US telephone bidder and is now the most valuable car ever sold at auction in Denmark. The sale, which was held at the grounds of Henrik Frederiksen’s 16 th  century manor house, Lyngsbækgaard, offered 48 cars for sale on Saturday, 26 September - 92% of which were sold, realising more than £16m.

    With investors shunning low interest savings in favour of classic vehicles, including early Land Rovers, 1950s to 70s Aston Martins and pre 1980s Ford Escorts, values have increased considerably. It is estimated that the average value of classic cars has risen by more than 250% between 2005 and mid-2013. So classic car insurer Carole Nash's Cherished Cars is advising owners to check the value of their assets and re-insure as necessary. Peter McIlvenny, Carole Nash's director of Cherished Cars, commented: "A Ferrari 330 GT from 1964, which was worth £55k back in 2009, would now fetch £175k on the market.

He stated his Government’s commitment that: “The challenge is not to squeeze motorists out of cars, but to squeeze the carbon out of cars.” A permanent exhibition celebrating 100 years of car production at Oxford is now open to the public with access via Gate 5 of the plant, off the A4142 Eastern By-Pass at the Horspath Road cross roads.
