Focus MK1 1.6 Auto - Focus Auto noise/vibration. 1 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Hello, I just wondered if anyone has any pointers as to why my Focus is acting weird. It seems to vibrate violently whilst driving, but only sometimes. The other day whilst reversing up a slight incline there wasa sort of sharp clicking noise at the front N/S. Iwas outside and saw the front wheel jerk. Today, my missus was driving it to work and it startied vibrating badly, so she stopped, put it in reverse, then back into Drive and it drove off normally. -
Ford Mondeo MK4 2.0 TDCI Diesel 140ps. - Ford Mondeo auxiliary belt problem 2 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Rather than towing the car to the garage without running the engine could i do the following.... If i cut off the aux belt completely then according to my knowledge it drives the air conditioning pump, the alternator and the power steering pump, would it be safe to drive the car to the garage? ( 3 miles away) As far as i can see the water pump is driven off the cam belt(is this correct?) -
Rover 25 1.6 2003 lpg - Lpg vs petrol consumption help 24 Jun 2014 (Forum)
The most I ever filled up the LPG tank is with 32 litres , I usually fill up when the last of the 4 green lights has been flashing for some time. Not sure how much further I can drive , does anyone know if there is a red light to say that the tank is empty? Anyway. I noticed that the mileage I am getting is approximately 160-170 miles per 32 litres lpg tank doing city driving. -
Peugeot 206 SW 2.0 Hdi 2004 - Horn randomly sounding when parked up 20 Feb 2014 (Forum)
The car starts and drives normally and the horn hasn't sounded when I've been driving. Yesterday morning it was parked outside work for about 2 hours before it went off. I've now pulled the fuse until I can get it back to the garage. -
Any Make or Model - Tagging for Disqualified Drivers and Car Thieves 15 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Adressing the theme of how can we use technology to the benefit of 'decent, honest hardworking Familes' (to paraphrase DC) then two items in the Birmingham Mail gave me an idea for discussion in the HJ Forum, namely those offenders associated with habitual crimes such as car theft, or dangerous driving/driving whilst disqualified could be fitted with an electronic tag that automatically imobilises any car they attempt to drive - in the same way that all modern cars are imobilised until the valid ignition key is detected/inserted by the built in security systems. -
Ford Fiesta - Blue smoke, high oil consumption 15 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I've recently noticed its starting use alot more oil. On start up in the morning I sometimes get a very small amount of smoke. After driving down a long hill (overrun) i get clouds of blue smoke for a few moments that quickly clears as i continue driving. Start up and general driving is normal with no noticeable loss of power. Water is also fine. -
Vauxhall Corsa Exclusiv -1229cc Petrol '60 Reg’ - Intermittent engine or transmission fault 12 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Whilst generally happy with the car it has an intermittent fault which when happens makes the car virtually impossible to drive. This has happened some 10-12 times over the last 2 months and seems to be occurring more often now that the colder weather has arrived. When it does happen it is always on the first drive of the day (having been parked up overnight) and manifests itself by the ‘Service vehicle soon’ light coming on which in turn causes the engine to dramatically lose power (or vice versa) resulting in it having to be driven in much lower gears than normal. -

New Car - Long Range, Decent Drive & low costs 4 Sep 2013 (Forum)
We frequently (at least once a week) make a round trip of 600 miles and we want a car which can easily do 600 miles on a single tank of fuel. We both want somethings thats not completely horrible to drive but we are not expecting R32 type of fun. Decent acceleration and ability to cruise at reasonably high speed is essential. Something about VW Golf size is ideal and we need 4 doors as we have to carry aged relatives. -
Nissan Juke - Happy Pink has a new car! 17 Mar 2013 (Forum)
They say the best way to test drive a car is to rent one. So three years ago I was given an S-Max rental and three years later I am still driving the one I bought as soon as I got home. Christmas saw us in a Nissan Juke. -

Citroen C3 Picasso - Car Insurance Premium 18 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Got a letter early this week saying I had not declared an accident I had in 2010, so they wanted another £78 from me. The accident they refered to was; I was driving a city car club car, hired and paid by my employer who is the CCC member not me, all I did ws drive it for them. I was waiting to turn right a cross roads and was struck on the near side by an articulated wagon that did not stop. -
BMW 320i M Sport Touring - Catalytic Converter - Cleaning Additives? 11 Feb 2012 (Forum)
They had put a proprietary additive (not sure which one) into the fuel and advised me to go out and "drive the car as if i had stolen it" Went for a blast down the motorway for about 50-60 miles but not sure if that will be enough to affect a clean out. My questions are - How efficient are these cleaners and how much high rev driving must i do to get them to work? -
2008 Vauxhall Agila - Non Cancelling Indicators 4 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Its obvious that the people who design these things never have to drive them or have never driven normal vehicles with easy cancelling indicators. I also drove a courtesy brand new Corsa while the Agila was being repaired and the operation of the indicators completely fooled me in the short time I drove it. -
Can speed cushions really damage springs? 21 Jun 2011 (Forum)
In view of the groundswell of opinion amongst Backroom members that driving over speed cushions can damage springs, I'm by and large reviving a post of mine from a previous thread which appears to have petered out. In all seriousness, how can driving over speed cushions result in damage to springs? -

hi guys , i recently purchased a 1.4 peugeot 306 maridian as i wanted to downsize from my 2.0 ford focus gear for cheaper tax n insurance , the problem is when i first start the car up it will cut out within seconds as the excelerator dosn't seem to work when pressing down , then i will restart engine and everthing seems to work , my lower gears don't seem to have any pulling power to go up hills , 2nd and 3rd gear for hills feels like i'm using 4th n 5th , first thought it was because i was use to driving 2.0 ford focus with great pulling power , but my friend has got a 1.2 peugeot and i had a drive of hers comparing both cars and her car seems to be better with gears and it's pretty nifty driving so can anyone tell me why my car feels like i'm sat on a snail , petrol wise the car seems to be eating that too please help if you can , i'm sick of garages takin the mick as i think you can guess i'm female ! -
Volkswagen Passat CC - VW CC Current model convert headlights to LH drive 8 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I have just had a conversation with VW customer services about changing the Xenon headlights on my CC to left hand drive for when I visit the continent. Their reply was YES it can be done by a dealer, ask the dealer to call tech support if they don't know how to do it. After calling 3 dealers, each one gives a different answer, look in the hand book, no it needs beam deflectors at £19.99 from us, leave the vehicle with us and we will waste your time while we check it out, cannot find out until we have the vehicle.
