£260 for a fourth service on a Ford Fiesta 1.25 11 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Is this too much as the garage I bought the car from , who sell Hyundais but also have a Ford service centre, stated that this is a major service where the brake fluid needs to be changed as well as normal service items? I do have a service plan, which will cover £ 185 of the cost, but is this too much for the service. -

Mitsubishi - Alloy replacement 6 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The boss drove through a pot hole and knackered a wheel. The insurance company have been very good and covered the cost but said I could do what I liked with the cheque as the OEM alloy is £500. I can get 4 Zito alloys for less than that if I want but am wondering whether I should stick to originals. The car is 5 years old and I will be looking to sell within the next 6-9 months. -
Hyundai Getz (2002 - 2008) - Servicing Costs 26 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Before I ring the local dealer (who is a multi franchise and has a poor reputation) does anyone have a ballpark figure of what they should be charging. I wouldn't put it past them to try and bump the price up. The car theoretically has another two years warranty to run, but I bet it's pretty selective in what it covers. -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2004 1.8 Would the reversing lights be warrantied? 24 Jun 2008 (Forum)
It has been traced to being a possible fault with the connection between the gearbox and the electrics. Would this be covered in a 2-year dealer warranty I received when purchasing the car last August? Help would be appeciated, Thanks {subject header amended to give a brief mention of the question being asked} -
Saw my first new Mondeo estate on the road today 11 Sep 2007 (Forum)
What a good looking car. First time I've seen one in the flesh. Despite Ford's intention of trying to get it "up market", the one I saw today was a true workhorse already - ladders on the roof rail/rack, filthy paintwork, and alloys covered in brake dust. -
Audi 80 TDI Clutch Judder 12 Jun 2007 (Forum)
This mainly happens first thing in the morning and once the clutch has been used a few times it settles down, although the take up is very sharp, with no comfort zone. The car has covered 120K and is on its original clutch. (K Reg). I can just about live with the problem, but would welcome any advice. -
Gap Insurance 20 Feb 2007 (Forum)
When placing an order for a new Honda CRV recently (No HP involved) , the salesman offered my son-in-law Gap Insurance to cover a period of 3 years from new for about £325. I really know little about this type of insurance, except that it can be useful if a car purchased on HP is written off following an accident and the amount paid by the insuring company is less then the total amount due to the HP Company. -
Insurance questions 1 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Having used confused.com and moneysupermarket.com, I've realised the latter is far better in respect of car insurance, however it's thrown this up by using some companies I've never heard of before, and I wondered if anyone else had ever used them? Swift Cover.com Simple Cover from Norwich Union. I was wondering whether these companies are indeed wise options, or actually rip-off merchants? -
2000 polo 1.4 timing belt 4 Aug 2006 (Forum)
My girlfriend has a 2000 1.4 16 valve VW Polo (75 BHP) The car has covered 63,000 miles and I think it is due a timing belt change, however looking in the manual it suggests the belt is merely checked at 60,000 miles. Does anyone know the correct time to change the belt?? -
Insurance cost 12 Feb 2006 (Forum)
For anyone looking to reduce their car insurance costs the Post Office is well worth a look. My premium with Churchill amounted to £135 (TPFT) this year. The PO quoted £88 for the same cover without the legal assistance bit. On top of that, for new PO customers, there is a £50 cashback bonus. -
Is the extended warranty worth it? 10 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I rang my Mitsubishi dealer today and they quoted me £636 to extend the manufacturers warranty for 12 months (this includes breakdown cover). Do you think this is worth it? I am thinking of selling the car within the next 9 months or so - would having a manufaturers warranty make a big difference to the money I might get for it (I estimate it is worth around £5500)? -
94 Ibiza Headrest 6 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Hi All, I bought car seat covers for my brother's 1994 Seat Ibiza, but he says the headrests don't come off; instead of being able to pull the headrest and poles out of the main seat, the poles seem to be stuck to the seat and the headrest just moves up and down them. -
renault scenic knock 23 Aug 2004 (Forum)
My scenics developed a knock, I think is coming from the front end, it only occurs when I'm accelerating round a corner, it happens turning either left or right, driving in a straight line is no problem. I have just come back from France having covered 1800 miles, the noise was there as we get to France but has not got worse during that time, the car is 1998 model & has done just under 60'000 miles, any ideas please. -
Towing an untaxed, uninsured vehicle. 23 Jun 2004 (Forum)
The police tell me this is illegal and will invalidate the insurance on the tow-car as well. Therefore if I want to tow my old SIII Landy to a garage for repair work, prior to an MOT, can I just get a short term third party insurance cover and nothing else? Obviously I cannot get a tax disk prior to a successful MOT, and what if the garage where I'm having the repair work carried out is not an MOT centre? -
Legacy whine 26 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Within the past few days a rear end whine has developed, noticeable over 40mph. The rear axle is covered in oil, but not dropping any on my drive, so this condition could have existed for a while. Is the noise cause for serious concern, especially if transmission related? the car runs fine, but better safe than sorry. -
Punto problem 27 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Is it the head gasket gone do you think or is a little bit of gunk normal? There are no sign of water on the dipstick. I am hoping this is not serious as the car has not covered that many miles, and has been serviced regulary! Any view appreciated. Many thanks, FarmerPalmer -
Which 4X4 for 15K? 19 Nov 2003 (Forum)
After a string of company 4x4's (Discovery's, Landcruiser's and M-Class), my Dad has decided to opt out of the company car scheme due to escalating taxation costs. He is looking to spend around 15K and will cover around 20K miles per year. All fuel will be paid for by the company. He is currently considering a Landcruiser or a Range Rover and is also looking into Japanese Imports Any advice on the above or any others which we may have missed?
