VW TDi - 1.9 vs 2.5 long-term ? 9 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Quick question - which TDi engine will last longer, the 130 TDi 4-cyl, or the 2.5 V6 ? I plan on running my forthcoming (used) Passat for a few years, and still can't make up my mind which to buy - at 3 years old the difference in price isn't that much. I am wondering if the less-stressed V6 diesel will last longer ... anyone out there run either a 130 or the V6 to some high mileages ? -

Mondeo running problems 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
My friend came round that evening with the new set of plugs and I tried to start the car to show him the symptoms and strangely it started!! Although it ran rough as it did the night before. I took the car for a long run so as the injector cleaner could do its work and it did seem to run a bit better. The next morning it would not start again so the following Saturday (last Saturday) I changed the glow plugs and since then (a week ago now) it starts first time every time, hot and cold but it still runs rough, no power, smokes a lot on hard acceleration especially in low gears. -

Vauxhall Astra 1.7cdti 2012 diesel - Running on two cylinders/lack of power 25 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Can anyone help? I have a Vauxhall Astra 1.7 cdti 2012 diesel, which is running on 2 cylinders and is powerless. It started to mess around a little, and I thought it needed a run up the motorway to clear the emissions, but this did not happen as it lost all power and I had difficulty in getting home. -
Hyundai i10 - Air Con 15 Jun 2021 (Forum)
A very genuine car from a genuine seller. Car hasn't been used much over last couple of months apart from a once in a while short run to keep things moving. Seller said (and I believe him) that a/c was working when last used, and I didn't think to try it during short test drive. Took it out for a short run (20 miles or so) and a/c is not working, or rather it does everything except blow cold air- fan works fine, compressor and engine fan cut in. -

Bin lorries - is the driver allowed to leave cab? 14 Apr 2018 (Forum)
However, whilst waiting, I did notice that the driver of the refuse lorry was also actively involved in the bin retrieval, emptying and return. The lorry was therefore running, not parked, no one at the wheel. Once the collection in that bit was done, he then popped back in the cab and drove another 15 metres on, at which point I could get by. Had a google on the legality of this, with conflicting results 1) The engine of the bin lorry has to be on for the compactor and hydraulics to work 2) There is a safety switch at the rear to cut the engine if needed 3) The law that says its illegal to leave a car unattended and running is not applicable to vehicles that require the engine to be running for loading/processing purposes, eg. refuse lorry, skip mover, cherry picker etc.
