  • Mercedes depreciation-WOW! 10 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Expected around £17-18500 for it (it was £45000 in 1999). Best trade in price ... £13000 against a new Lexus worst ... £9750 against a new MB C32!! So much for brand loyalty. Tempted to write to MB UK to ask what they are playing at. Not even my old Hyundai Lantra depreciated like that!!
  • Buying a 2nd hand IS200 SE Auto 29 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Hi, I am looking at buying a 2nd hand IS200 SE Auto with Satellite System from a Lexus main dealer. It's in good condition but has done 57K miles. It was registered in 1999 and is a T reg They are asking £13,750. WHat do you think is a fair price to pay - £12,000? I don't expect to put many miles on the clock so hoping to reduce the mileage over the longer term.
  • is there Lexus LS , very reliable alternative? 2 Jul 2022 (Forum)
As far as i know Acura stopped producing RLX, so nothing to replace Rlx, infiniti stopped producing big sedan cars as well... their last car was q70/m......... not sure what else can be extremely reliable like lexus ls... i dont like SUVS , i would like car to be sedan i also dont need small coupe... i am tall person and i need space... and comfort...   I know s-class looks great and have so many options including night vision but not sure how their reliable is, i am talking about used cars only s -class from year 2014 and up, also audi a8, and bmw 7 but i dont have experience with any of these cars...
  • New year, new car 9 Dec 2021 (Forum)
Suppose there is the Corolla estate but that increases the price quite a bit and in the past I have found some estates quite boomy and tiresome. But there is another that cropped up in searches that has got me thinking, the Lexus UX base model (again). Can be had for £25350 OTR which is a bit over budget but looking at costs over 4 years it appears to do pretty well. The predicted residuals of the Lexus appear to beat the other 3 quite substantially which could theoretically mean its costs less to own despite costing a little more up front.
  • Lexus GS300 - Victim of hit and run 1 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Our Lexus (1998) was side swiped while it was parked on the road in front of our house about 2 weeks ago.  The driver didn't stop, but a neighbor who had been out walking her dog, witnessed it and got a partial registration.
  • Manchester to Bournemouth on Thursday 12 Apr 2013 (Forum)
My fellow passenger is over 60 so he gets cheap tickets. Alternatively we can go in his new Lexus Hybrid RX.  Driving is about 4hours 30mins without stops, but we can leave earlier than the first sensible train.  The route I think is M6, M40, A34, M3, M27.   Any comments, suggestions, advice?

  • Peugeot 407 (2004 - ) - Price of 407 1.6hdi - is this cheap 1 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Whats this model like to drive with the 1.6 engine? I do like the 407's - nice drive. Ok the build isnt Lexus but they are pretty cheap and do the job.
  • Green 4x4s 17 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Just saw 'Pulling Power' and thought they were talking some rubbish! They seemed to come to the conclusion that a Lexus 4x4 was green. They said that the car generates power while you drive it, but doesn't give out any emissions. What they didn't mention is that it uses more power than it generates. I haven't seen the specs for this car, but I doubt that it can generate power without using any.
  • And the survey says.... 23 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Auto Express had releases a few comments about their Driver Power 2006 survey (lots in the magazine I'm sure) www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/65609/driver_power_2006_the_results.html Just a few things that most of us already know (and some of us act on when selecting a car): 11 of the 12 most reliable cars are Japanese nine of the 11 models suffering from the most mechanical breakdowns are from French and Italian marques, most unreliable is the Peugeot 307. Lexus is best manufacturer but Honda has 3 out of the 4 most reliable models. Skoda has done well and Kia has a model in the top 10.
  • Weasel Warranties 24 Nov 2002 (Forum)
My girlfriend purchased (following some discussion on this board) a Mercedes A-Class A170 T reg with 43k on the clock, from the Lexus dealer in Newcastle, as one of their "Approved Used Cars". She picked it up last Thursday, and on Friday lunchtime the power steering promptly failed (no it wasn't the fuse or the belt driving the PS pump) She had bought a 3 year warranty from the dealer (from "Warranty Holdings", who I now know much more about having done some googling!)
  • Missing car for 10 months... 25 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Any thoughts/advice appreciated. GF and I are looking at buying a Mercedes A-Class, we've seen a nice one at a (Lexus) main dealer, 7995. The car is a T reg with 43k miles on it, it's in pretty good condition for the mileage. It's being sold below the parkers' trade-in price for the model, this according to the dealer is because it is their year end and they want to get their stock levels down.
  • How Reliable Is Your Car? 14 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Just been reading the 2011 reliability survey on What Car and the top 10 is no surprise to anybody that its dominated by the Japanese and Koreans. With (in ascending order) Nissan, Kia, Hyundai, Subaru, Mazda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Lexus, Toyota and Honda making up the top ten. Honda recording only a 9% failure rate with apparently the 99-03 Accord being their worst performer but even that is in the top 10 for family cars. What is surprising is that Citroen, Fiat and Peugeot, not firms renowned for reliability all ranked above BMW, VW, Volvo and Audi with Mercedes Benz languishing in 27th place.

  • Removing paint from leather 9 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I am currently borrowing my ex's Lexus SportCross and shall valet it before return. Sometime during the last 3 years paint has appeared on the leather seat squab...not looked closely but gloss I assume. How best to remove without marking the leather?
  • Really low prices for very new cars 20 Aug 2007 (Forum)
They seem to be all over the country - except the phone numbers are all Liverpool disguised partly by the spacing - e.g. 01512 XXXXXX Examples Lexus 350H 7,000mls 2006 @ £11K Maserati 2004 @ £11K BMW Z4 @ £11K If you want to see for yourselves leave all search criteria bland but teh Keyword Search 01512 - you will also get a few gebuine looing adverts as well but the "bargains stick out" from the rest
  • Quick diesels with auto?? 24 Aug 2006 (Forum)
First post....I hope this is the right forum. I'm looking to change my dear old Lexus GS300 for something more suited to my pension! I like the idea of a biggish diesel engine in a smallish hatchback. However I've got used to an auto box and don't fancy a manual. I recently hired a Focus Estate with an auto box, and I was impressed with the combined auto/clutchless manual box.
  • Set up or stupidity? 30 Mar 2006 (Forum)
On Monday I visited a local retail park and parked next to a new Lexus 300. When getting out of the car I noticed a mobile phone in the pocket between the seats and thought 'there's an invitation for a local scroat'. I then look in the car further and there was a Nikon SLR digital camera sat on the passenger seat.
  • UK va USA Petrol 16 Sep 2004 (Forum)
My wife has a Lexus ES300 here in the US. (It's basically a Camry). From new, I have been amazed by how gutless and slow it is. Another post on this board got me thinking, is it to do with the petrol over here? They have three grades, 89, 91, and 93.
  • spinny wheel things 17 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Driving down to Portsmouth, joined the A3 at Tolworth. Next lane over was a yellow E36 Beemer M3, Lexus style rear lights, and weird spinners on the wheels. They were like a second set of spokes, and span independently of the wheels- such that they would take a few seconds to spin once under way, and would spin for a few seconds when stopped.
