  I have a 2011 BMW 520D Touring which seems to be struggling with a DPF issue. Hoping to get some good advice here. The car has done 118,000 miles. MPG is way down on previous models- 36mpg urban and 44mpg on motorways.

  I have extended warranry on the car, but  a gearbox oil change (£500 worth - £170 oil) would not be covered and may not fix the problem. Anyone have any ideas? Will BMW listen if I take the car to a transmission specialist? Is it worth doing? Any help would be greatly appreciated

  Looking at buying a new or nearly new BMW 5 series, either a 525d or 525i SE. BMW main dealers are quite pricey but looking on autotrader etc there seems to be lots of 525i petrols for sale. Motorprovider had this cracking offer for a nearly new one at £22k.

  I'd prefer the former - cheaper to shod. Am I looking at c. £500 buyers fee for private buy at BCA? For the BCA BMW auctions, anyone know what the sale basis is ie 'sold as seen', 'no major mech' etc? These sales are bad finance or pre lease cars.

  Garage contacted supplier and Rover part was on a 3 week backlog...no good as needed car. Remembered that last year the other side needed doing and it had a BMW part fitted from either 3 or 5 series - cant remember which now! Mentioned this to garage and they called supplier and the BMW was the same. Only problem was: Rover part - £68+vat +fitting BMW part - £117+vat +fitting Cut a long story short, got car back today and mechanic said that the part came in same box and part was exactly the same as the one that came off..only more expensive because it came in BMW box.

  Hi there Use car every week day(Bmw E34 j reg 518i)works fine, but come the weekend when i am not using it, it goes flat as a doh doh by Monday morning. It has a new battery and its been tested.   BMW, in their infinite wisdom, try to make you buy their own brand of oil by grading the variants differently to all other oil brands (or so it seems to me). Can anyone recommend what oil I should be putting in my 330d other than what BMW want me to buy?
