Seat dealer - £90 to diagnose fault 19 Aug 2014 (Forum)
The dealer has told him if the fault is not a warranty issue, he will need to pay £90 for their diagnosis. Since when did they dream up this scam? We are not talking about an intermitent fault, it should be easy enough to diagnose. Is he allowed to take it to an alternative VAG dealer nearby for warranty work? The skoda dealer and the VW dealer do not charge for diagnosing cars that are under warranty. -

Peugeot 307 - sold car on ebay, buyer won't use paypal 15 Aug 2010 (Forum)
The auction description said in no uncertain terms "PAYPAL ONLY" and people with no paypal account were unable to bid. The winner now says he won't use paypal as he has "been scammed" before. I think he wants to turn up with cash, find fault with the car and offer less. Am I paranoid? My instinct is to refuse and re-list. Ta. -
Online Banking - *iMPORTANT* 24 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I got an email pointing me to this forum: http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15945 I'm sure you've all seen scams but this one is incredibly realistic . If you look at the demo pages, it uses the real Barclays site but for the login it uses the fake one. The particular nice touch is the "BE AWARE OF FRAUDSTERS" Like I say, it's a smooth job and I do apologise for posting here but if at least a few people read it then that's something. -
How not to pass the L test 3 Aug 2003 (Forum)
He was outside the test centre with a mobile phone so he could relay the answers to each individual via their hidden earpiece. The questions remain. Why only 97% sucess rate? Why did it take so long to identify the scam. -
best used car mag ? 9 Nov 2001 (Forum)
This mag covered every angle in the used car game, great stories about car dealers antics, mystery shoppers visiting showrooms unveiling scandulous selling scams. I'm not aware of any other used car mags on the market but it seems strange considering the used car business is far larger than the new car market. Steve G -

Any - Cracking the whiplash 18 Oct 2012 (Forum)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/insurance/motorinsurance/9609751/Fewer-car-crashes-but-more-whiplash-claims.html We all knew this to be true, but the the scale of the scam is still quite shocking. "Police figures show a 20rise in 3rd party injury claims% fall in the number of accidents involving injuries since 2006, while there has been a 40% " and "the average 3rd party claim now stands at £8400 suggesting that most claim s are for whiplash-like injuries" Surely, it is now time for whiplash to be declared an Act of God, since, like God, whiplash is an intangible entity whose existence cannot be proved?
