    It's all good news apart from aesthetics as Lexus has upped specs, cut prices and introduced a powerful new IS300 5-speed automatic model. All Lexus IS models now have curtain shiled airbags, EBD, Brake Assist, ISOFIX child seat fixing points, a better trimmed dashboard and minor tweaks to the grille and rear light clusters. Entry models come on 16 inch wheels which should improve the ride quality an there is a new rear spoiler for the Sport.

    There are seven models in the range, designed to satisfy a broad range of demands and tastes through a choice of 1.3, 1.6 and 2.0 four-cylinder 16 valve petrol engines, plus a 2.0-litre turbo diesel. All 323 models have ABS brakes with EBD, plus driver, passenger and side airbags as standard equipment. All have central door locking, power steering, tilt-adjust steering wheel, plus modular four-speaker audio system. All but the 1.3i also have electric front windows and door mirrors, and all models have fingertip audio controls mounted on the steering wheel apart from the 2.0 Sport, which has a leather-wrapped Nardi sports wheel.

    In a test by German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, the Avensis Verso was found to have the shortest, safest braking distances of any MPV. Passengers are not squeezed for shoulder width and three adults can sit across the second row in comfort. Interior width is 1,505mm, with shoulder width of 1,446mm, 1,456mm and 1,340mm in front, second and third row seats respectively.

    Recent work includes a service (spark plugs, oil and filter). Plus it’s also had a reconditioned alternator, new water pump, clutch, as well as rear brakes shoes and cylinders. Inside, the seller says it’s in good condition with dry carpets. He also adds that the radio is missing, but that he'll throw in a CD player. Outside, it certainly looks shiny but it still has some trouble spots.
