Honda Civic - TfL red lines stopping - are there any exemptions? 14 Sep 2022 (Forum)
Honestly if I am fined £80 I will be gutted because I've literally spent 9 hours working today driving around so it will have all been for nothing if done for that. Ironicalyl the reason I puleld was to avoid the inappropriate use of my phone whilst driving which would have also got me fined/and points. -
Adjusting steering for the camber of the road 27 Jul 2022 (Forum)
But I wondered, how much do you find this in your car? Is your steering wheel always absolutely central as you are driving along straight, or is this slight compensation for road camber just perfectly normal? -
Yaris, Jazz, Kia, Hyundai - Best economical hatchback, urban driving, £3k 17 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Which make and model do you recommend for urban driving and daily school runs? Economy isi a priority but also a roomy space for kids car seats- we currently have a 1.0 litre Jazz 2003 model, unhappy with the gears, and find engine cuts out regularly, but this is probably irrelevant as I didn't know how to do proper checks when buying it a few months ago. -
Vauxhall Corsa 2007 - 83 yr old stopped driving, one for SLO76 5 Jun 2019 (Forum)
I thought this might amuse SLO.. As i said in the other thread, one of my friends has decided to give up driving, had advertised the car, had a couple of replies and one guy offered a silly low price, pointing out various (minor) defects and trying to knock a lot off. As she is a widow, was a bit distressed at having people coming to her house (had been scammed before).. i said Ill pretend I'm your son if you want. -
Honda CR-V - Replacement / courtesy car for warranty repairs 13 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Is this practice of a very high excess a standard practice? Or am I covered fully for driving the courtesy car as my car would be in the garage getting repaired and not on the road. Thank you in advance. -
Driving ban, totting up to 12 points 20 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Hi, I'm new here and I could use some advice please. I drive for a living and have reached 12 points on my licence. I had 3 points in December 2006 for doing something like 38 in a 30 and got caught by a camera, totally bang to rights I know. Now in the last 12 months I've recieved a further 9, 3 for doing 36 in a 30, 3 for doing 39 in a 30 and 3 for using my mobile phone, I need to add that I was using the phone while the car was stationary at traffic lights and I didnt actually think I'd broke the law. -
Lexus LS430 - Driving to Europe in an old large engine Lexus 4.3 24 Aug 2018 (Forum)
So on a last minute impulse I have just booked a ferry trip to France in my 2002 Lexus LS 4.3 litre an old beast which hasn’t been in use for a while now . Now I have just realised that there may be some additional issues with driving a large engine car. Apart from getting the warning triangle, breathalysers, spare bulbs and high visibility jacket... Would there be anything else that is required? Or any precautions? Or any areas to avoid? -
any - how long to get the best from your vehicle 3 Aug 2018 (Forum)
OK so it was new and the engine obviously tight, but at first my fuel figures were disappointing to me (nothing ever said by work), but now several months later the figures are much better, though the warm weather must be playing its part as well, be interesting to see what happens this winter. Do you find you fine tune your driving as you learn your car intimately? and have you seen constant improvements in fuel as you gel with the way the vehicle drives making use of it's strengths? -
What does in charge mean? 20 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Hotel car parks may be counted as public highway too. I am even assuming that it has to be on the public highway and not your own drive. -

Careless driving charge 12 Nov 2016 (Forum)
Not that any of the latter was an issue but just trying to paint the picture. Any way, I've now received a court summons for careless driving with a police statement saying "the driver failed to notice the car in front and as a result coursed serious injury and damage to another vehicle. I pleaded guilty by post within a week of the summons coming through. -
Are all salesman idiots 18 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Had a look, perfect size, great kit, good deals but as soon as you mention the "petrol" word the salesman turns stupid. Cannot let me drive a petrol but the petrol and diesel use the same engine and drive exactly the same apparantly. If I really wanted to drive a petrol he suggested I look on Autotrader and go to another dealer. Well I don't have to buy a car from him so he looses out. -
2004 Vauxhall Corsa - Hit a kerb- Should I take it to the garage? 29 Jul 2016 (Forum)
No unusual noises, no steering problems etc. I had the tracking/wheel alignment done a week or two ago and the car still drives in a straight line with no pulling in either direction. Everything seems to be just the same however I'm unsure as I don't know whether to just leave it or not. The car feels and drives just the same. -

who should be responsible for accident penalty 20 Feb 2016 (Forum)
on september 1 the car my mother and i were in was hit by another car (according to the cops the driver who hit us had only recently got his driver's licence and had only been driving for about a week ) we were fine no injuries however the car we were in was my dads (he let us borrow it because at the time my moms only vehicle was a van and it is a petrol guzzler so we would often borrow his for longer trips) when we spoke to my dad he checked his insurance and we learned that when he renewed his insurance not long before this accident he didnt put my mother on it (he claims he forgot but because he is a bit of a cheapskate so to speak she believe's he did not put her on it on purpose) today we got a letter stating that as she was driving without insurance she is now threatened with a 300£ fine and 6 points on her licence as she did not know she was driving uninsured who should receive the penalty and the fine -
VW Golf mark VI 1.6TDI - Lost engine power on motorway! 29 Jun 2015 (Forum)
But what could have caused all this ? The car is from October 2009, and has just 59K miles on the clock - mainly motorway driving. This is the first serious fault I have ever experienced with it. -

Ford Fiesta - Distance to empty gauge 15 Apr 2014 (Forum)
We bought a 63 plate Fiesta at the end of last year. My wife drives it and she noticed that when the warning light/chime for low fuel came on at around 50 miles left, the miles she continued to drive did not match the mileage countdown figures on the dial. I thought it might be the way she drove the car. -
Honda Jazz - Accident whilst teaching uninsured friend to drive 5 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hi My wife has just come back and told me that her friend crashed our car whilst my wife was giving her a driving lesson. My wife's friend has a provisionl licence but is uninsured, whereas my wife has fully comp insurance. The added complication is that the friend reversed into a building and slightly damaged 2 hard plastic panels.
