  • Toyota Corolla (1992 - 1997) - 94 1.6Gli Central Locking/Alarm doesn't disengage 8 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Haynes manual does not give any info on the alarm (it is a re-write of US model manual, so some stuff isnot covered)
  • Dodgy Car Deal 10 Aug 2001 (Forum)
The car was only registered in September last year! The five problems, briefly have been: - a new satellite navigation CD-rom to replace a faulty one, - a repositioning of the satellite navigation system, since the gyroscope was not detecting the vehicle's position accurately, - a new clutch cover, - a completely new clutch when the replacement cover did not rectify an earlier problem, - a new "fan auxilliary pulley".
  • Skoda Yeti - My Yeti(s) 25 Mar 2018 (Forum)
I was approached by numerous people in car-parks / when re-filling at petrol stations, asking either what it was, or how I was finding it. I've owned a number of cars (>100) and more people asked about my Yeti (in 2009) than any other car.
  • Peugeot 2008 - - the saga of the u/s locking bolt 4 Nov 2022 (Forum)
So, appointment at local Wellingborough Peugeot garage for a 'complimentary inspection'...had to book in and leave the car for an hour!  Pg - 'not covered under warranty'.  JF - 'clearly a defective bolt'. Pg - 'must have been over-tightened'.  JF - 'untouched since delivery'.  Pg - 'probably at pre-delivery inspection where you bought it - they must sort it'.
  • Ford Ka - Creaking noises 12 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Where the road surface is 'rough' the noise sort of reacts to that and is more 'creaking' and will only 'clunk' depending on the depth of any defect in the road surface, Thirdly, at times where the road isn't particularly rough, the noise appears as a creak (almost as if the entire car is creaking), especially if the road is not level, and the left hand side of the car is lower than the right; while turning. It seems to be worse if the road conditions induce a 'roll' in the car or that the individual wheels are at differing heights in the turn due to the road.
  • Citroen C4 Picasso - Car Recall not notified. Damaged engine 6 Aug 2024 (Forum)
Hi all Me and my partner purchased a Citroen C4 Picasso in January 2023 from a well known car business and things were going great. However, before going on holiday this summer we thought it would be best to get it serviced so took it to the dealer we got the car from. Upon being serviced, they advised us that there was corrosion on the engine and the car would require a new engine.
  • SEAT Leon SC - Dealership refusing repair and missold car 7 Oct 2020 (Forum)
When i purchase the car the ad stated ‘with all Seat main agent history’. Now to clarify before taking delivery of the car i had asked the dealership via message (main method of communication) so proof available ‘also wanted to confirm the car has full service history?
  • Vauxhall Crossland - Garage refusing repair under warranty 15 Aug 2023 (Forum)
I then was told that this evidence needed to be sent to the head office to where they would make a decision as to whether the car would be covered through warranty as the car is only 2.5 years old. I recieved an email 2 days later saying that Vauxhall are not going to agree for the repair to be made at this point and the only way we could move forward was for the stage one repair to be paid for and then they put the claim in and we would have to wait to see whether they would reimburse the money, at a cost of £1284.58.
  • Auction bargains - No V5 21 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I can afford to take a hit, but I'm tight and like a bargain. So, how does it work when there is no V5 at auction ? Presumably, the seller does own the car, and I'm covered by auction procedures and conditions there. I guess I apply to DVLA for a new V5, and can't put the car on the road till that arrives. Is there a special form or procedure ? How long does that usually take, and are their any horror stories out there ?
  • Car rental - the GOOD side 26 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Bought a cheap last minute fly drive and accomodation package, so was expecting the "fully inclusive" car hire to be the minimum insurance. Also wanted to add a second driver. So before I went I found all the prices to upgrade the insurance and add another driver, so as to be prepared for the hard sell when picking the car up.
  • Car with no luck 28 Jan 2015 (Forum)
The event took place in the local Tesco Car Park and it was snowy day.  I was in my 3 month old Touran waiting in the traffic when suddenly a car on my left started to reverse.  The rear window of this car was covered in snow.  She hit me once, she moved forward and then reversed into me again this time bit faster.
  • Peugeot 308 - Dealership potentially broke my car AGAIN - Advice 26 Jan 2023 (Forum)
After a few days i get a brief call to tell me the car is fixed and ready to be collected. No word on payments or anything so I take the car. You can tell it has a new engine as the car drives amazing after the repair. The car was serviced back in October, now 3 months later the "service" light has come on... de ja vu.
  • Sick Alfa 156 2.0 TS Man 9 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Took 3 months to order in parts by which time car tended to understeer and vibration developed at all speeds through front of the car, (also changed tyres to Potenza S03's from Pirelli's wished I had put Michelin on). 4. 22 months old, dealer finally fitted new front wish arms, repaired rocker cover gasket and the engine braking improved but the suspension did not.
  • Audi Q3 - Car on order with all the things Backroomers hate! 15 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Obviously, for us, it's not an issue, as it's a contract-hire agreement, including servicing, insurance, VED, breakdown cover, tyres etc. A really good deal. Picking it up Friday 10th. I'll keep you posted on whether we have any issues over the coming months.
  • Mk1 Ford Focus - Ford Focus starting issues 4 Dec 2019 (Forum)

  • Mazda 6 - Mazda 6 engine failure due to oil blockage 3 Oct 2017 (Forum)
They also said it wouldn't have found this issue. I am now waiting for the warranty company inspector to review the car. The cost of a partial engine would be £6700 at retail who his out of the question for me to cover! Thoughts appreciated!
  • Ford C-MAX - ford cmax only 2 years old from new, clutch gone 16 Nov 2015 (Forum)
CAn we drop the gearbox (instantly costing money). we are pretty sure its the clutch and that it won't be covered as it will show "abuse". Oh, and they reckon at least £700+. I'm no boy racer! Been driving 23 years, never had a clutch go, don't ride the clutch. My last car also a cmax from same garage, no problems.
  • Car decisions - can't get past the warranty 8 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I can get a (diesel) Ceed for £10k easy, probably a year old with hardly 5 figures on the mileometer... but the cheery on the cake is it will still have 6 years warranty to cover it.... We also love the Insignia, Astra, 1-series and a few others but similar spec cars to the ceed would be at least 3 years old and out of warranty... if I understand correctly, the Vauxhall warranty is not transferrable at all so unless buying from (overpriced) Network Q then we only get the sale of goods act to rely on...
  • 53 Plate Honda Civic 1.7 cdti (manual) - Honda Civic Woe's; Starting & How to tow ? 15 Sep 2011 (Forum)
This leads me onto my next question; my ford  fusion has 2 very clear towing points, one under the rear bumper and a hidden recess in the front bumper, which is under a small removable cover.  The civic has the usual rear towing eye/hoop but I cannot see any towing point at the front, does anyone know where the towing point is please ?. I aim to tow the car 5 miles to a mechanic, have a tow rope but can't figure out how to attach it to the civic.
  • Fuming!!! 8 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Returned to my work car park one night last week to find the rear bumper of my car badly scratched at one side and covered in turquoise paint. As I work for a bus company with such coloured buses it did not take a genius to work out that one of my workmates had managed managed to hit it whilst driving a bus (the car park is right next to the bus depot entrance).
