Mazda 626 (1997 - 1999) - 98 2,0 idling speed 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The reason is it has always idled on 500RPM, this was low but it never cut out. I have just left it standing for 2 months without driving ( the battery was also flat), and the now it struggles to stay running when idling once the car has warmed up, it has also cut out several times. What should i do? It has done 107000miles. Thanks in advance. John. -

The keyfob wont open doors/boot release. (Yes, I've checked the battery).I can only open the door with key in the lock but this sets off the alarm and doesn't central open the passenger door. Ithink the problemlies with the internal central locking button on dashboard as this stays lit at all times. -

BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - 97 3.5 Mileage fault, reads 999,999!! 28 May 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I'm new to the forum, thought I knew BMW's, but this fault has me stumped! The battery went flat due to a charging problem, now repaired, but when I restarted it the odometer reads 999,999! I don't know whether this is a new fault, or whether it needs to have it's fault codes read by a specialist.. the true mileage is 111K. -
BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - 99 5.23 fan keeps going when ignition turned off 19 May 2009 (Forum)
When he turns the car off a fan or something keeps going in the engine compartment. This always runs the battery flat. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and how to fix it. I have been told that it could be a relay switch. Any ideas out there? -
In-Car Chargers With USB Connection 28 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Neither my phone nor my ipod will charge from these devices. I suspect that these devices require a fairly precise voltage that the car battery and step down transformer is unable to match. Has anyone else tried these devices and had more luck than me? -

All the electrics worked fine (dials, guages, wipers, radio etc), but red imobiliser light kept flashing and Fob did not de-mobilise. Car would not start. Changed batteries in the fob, but no change. Please could you suggest a remedy? PS Really glad this web-site exists. moved over to Tech from Discussion -
Things your dad did 28 Oct 2008 (Forum)
He used to spend hours polishing each successive Cortina (we went through the series). He had a pair of dials, one for oil pressure and one for battery voltage (I think), mounted on a piece of wood-effect melamine. He transferred it from car to car, even when he couldn't afford (or wasn't allowed by the Finance Controller) to have the meters connected. -

Parking S/hampton Docks 21 Jan 2008 (Forum)
That in itself does not unduly bother me, but the old Merc' has got what can only be described as an alarm system with half a mind of it's own and I don't want to return to a flat battery with all the attendant problems. Best regards........MD -

Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - Security key pad 13 Oct 2007 (Forum)
He got it with the 1111 service/ valet code but would like to be able to put his own personal code in, does anyone know how to do this without knowing what the last personal code was, or is there a way of by-passing it completely, that won't cause any future problems, i.e if battery is ever removed. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - '96 1.25l 16v Zetec, MOT Fail - emissions.. 17 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Showed that it was stuck on "too lean", which would explain the hideous emissions results and smoke machine that my car turned into. If I were to fit my own new lambda, would disconnecting the battery for an hour or two "reset" the ECU, and therefore have erased the fault code, and hopefully help me through a retest? Many thanks, Karl. -
Problems with immobiliser on Pug 306 16 Jul 2007 (Forum)
It doesn't have a key-fob, just a normal key, so shouldn't that disable the immobilizer once put in the ignition? Do you have any suggestions? We tried disconnecting and then re-connecting the battery, but that's just caused the internal sensor light in the middle dash to flash.. Do you have any suggestions? Any help would be gratefully received!! -

VW Passat TD '95 - Starter Motor 1 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I replaced the starter before Xmas with a brand new non OE from Europarts. Worked well for about a month, then armature span but starter didn't engage - had to disconnect battery to stop it spinning! This hasn't happened since, but since then motor appeasr to stick. I can hear solenoid clicking, but it suits itself when it wants to engage. Usually rocking while in gear will release and will start OK. -
ford focus won't start 20 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, I have a problem with my '98 1.8 zetec focus, I went to start it the other day and instead of cranking, it just clicks rapidly for however long I hold the ignition on the crank position. I assumed this was a battery issue (I hadn't used the car for over a week, in which time we had very cold weather) so purchased a portable jump starter and tried starting with this attached but the same thing still happens. -
rover 620 sdi, alarm problems 21 Oct 2006 (Forum)
It randomly goes off and Im not sure why. Ive had to disconnect the horn for now but its gonna kill the battery with the indicators. Ive tried locking the car by key so that the inetrior sensors are disabled but no change so I can rule out movement to the car which leaves me with an electrical pull somewhere.
