  • xantia speedometer 20 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Hi, my fathers got a problem with the speedo on his M reg 1.9TD citroen xantia whereby when the car starts running it registers no speed but then after a few seconds the needle moves up to and stays at around 50mph until the engine is switched off when it falls down again.
  • Zx-Electric Windows / Sunroof Problem 29 Aug 2003 (Forum)
The electric sunroof on my 1991 Citroen ZX has been acting up lately(sometimes opening/sometimes not)but now it and the electric windows have packed in all together. The interior map reading light has also stopped working and upon checking the handbook discovered that all 3 items were on the same fuse.
  • C3 gears 10 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Citroen C3, just done 12,000 miles. Gear selection has suddenly become difficult within the last 200 miles e.g. can't get first or reverse from standstill without trying a couple of times and heaving on the lever.
  • Thinking of buying a C3 Hdi 16v? 21 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I\'m thinking of buying a C3 1.4 Hdi 16v diesel but I\'m getting increasingly jittery by the amount of bad experiences people are having not just with them but with Citroen (French for lemon!). Take a look at this website, http://freespace.virgin.net/citroen.c3 Spooky stuff eh? HJ tested one and sang its praises, but I think his was the 1.4Hdi 8v 70 Bhp jobber.
  • New C3 vs 2nd hand Ibiza TDI S ? 10 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Haven't driven either yet, or got down to any substantive discussions about price, but next weekend we hope to drive both in a quest to choose our second car. Like the Citroen's price, looks, impressive reports on the diesel engine (16v one) and interior space. We even thought that the interior trim was OK despite some reports of it being flimsy. Any C3 owners care to comment ?
  • Which diesel auto estate? 4 Feb 2003 (Forum)
So I have a limited choice, several candidates are not available as auto diesel e.g. new Mondeo and I fear BMW and Mercedes are too pricey. My shortlist is looking like: Citroen C5 VW Passat 130 Rover 75 Volvo V70 I would really appreciate any comments on these or alternative diesel auto estates which I may have overlooked. Thanks - BB
  • Car Recommendation? 21 Jan 2003 (Forum)
His criteria (as described to me) are: - "A bit different/stylish" (he doesn't need space) - "Not a convertible" - "Not a Citroen/Peugeot/Renault/Fiat/Alfa/Ford/Vauxhall" (!) - "Not a VW Golf" - "Reliable" He has between 10K and 12K to spend - any ideas? He's thinking of a used (yr 2000 on model) Toyota Celica although he doubts he'll be able to find one at this price/age/low mileage.
  • Brand Loyalty 30 Dec 2002 (Forum)
In the past most British manufacturers went through periods of producing awful cars and yet owners went back time and time again to trade in their old model. There is much the same syndrome displayed in the Backroom. Time after time we get the Volvo/Citroen/Skoda etc owner taking any excuse to extol the virtues of their own choice of car. True it may be just perfect, but we can be forgiven for thinking it is hardly objective! - the Mandy Rice-Davies factor as someone called it in an earlier thread.
  • Xsara HDI 110 15 Dec 2002 (Forum)
What should I look out for, I'll be doing the deal this weekend. The car is costing 6.5k along with the volcane from a citroen dealer. How does the xsara compare with other cars around that price? Has anyone bought a 110 xsara? I hope to put at least 150k miles on it and keep it for 4 years.
  • Xsara headlamps 13 May 2002 (Forum)
I am going to Scandinavia soon where I will have to use headlamps all day, and I do not want to be stuck without knowing how to chanbge a Xsara 2 lamp. Looking at the Citroen Xsara 2 Complex headlamps it appears that bulbs are changed by removing one of two caps on the back of the lamp unit. (The handbook shows which lamp is which, but not how to get to them). There appears to be little space to get to the back of the lamp unit especially on the diesel where part of the fuel gear is close to the back of the lamp.
  • Xantia follow up 27 Feb 2002 (Forum)
If anyone recalls the original problem here a small, innocent looking pipe was leaking. Investigations with Citroen revealed a cost of over £120 for the pipe alone. Fortunately, with the encouragement of David W and the help of an RAC mechanic (top bloke), salvage cars??? 18 Sep 2001 (Forum)
i have been looking at two cars, the first is a (M) reg, citroen ax 1.0 spree, it had light front end damage, but has been repaired, only thing it needs is the bonnet painting the same colour as the rest of the car, it done 47.000 miles, has FSH, is a 1994 (M), and he wants £575. if you dont believe me, then his phone number is 07930 871770.
  • Small MPV 7 Mar 2001 (Forum)
I need to replace my old Volvo and I have been looking at the mini MPV's by Renault, Nissan Citroen etc. I seem to have narrowed it down to the Tino and the Scenic, but they both have their pro's and con's, the Tino has the Nissan reliablity and has more space inside and looks ok from the outside, but is let down by the dash, plasticky and noisy wiper system(on the one I tried).
  • Citroen C3 Picasso - Grounds to return a used car for a refund? 24 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Hi, On 25th February (Tues) I purchased a 2009 Citroen C3 Picasso VTR+ 1.6HDi 90 with 68k miles and full service history from a local dealer. On 26th February (Wed) the passenger side front window came down approx 1/3 of the way and got jammed (I managed to get it back up again).

  • Ford Ka etc - Small city car - runabout/learner car 6 Aug 2025 (Forum)
58 plate through to 14 plate models all seem to be afflicted. Or is the nature of the beast with cars of this age? looking at the Peugeot/Citroen/Toyota trio, they also seem to see similar issues, not quite as prevalent though. Son number 1 has the Citroen C1 which I know son number 2 doesn’t like…so least interested in one of these.
  • Citreon - Struggling to buy a used car at todays prices 15 Oct 2022 (Forum)
So i've been looking for a used car for a while and see that most cars are out of my price range. I'm shocked at the prices nowadays.  The car i own now is pretty old. Citroen C3 1.4. I bought it 11 years ago and it was 8 years old. I paid £3200 back then. Which i could just about afford. The car had low mileage of about 53, 000 and it was in great condition. I bought it because it suited my needs at the time and I bought almost straight away when I saw in on the forecourt.
