  • Main Dealers - Don't you just love 'em 27 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Main Dealers - don't you just love 'em? - jacks Thu 27 Apr 06 10:06 My wife has a 3 year old MINI bought new from BMW dealer. She's just received a letter from the dealer inviting her to bring in the car for a "Routine Maintainance Check" for only £39.99. I rang the dealer to find out what this was about as the car has a "5 year servicing for £100 up front deal" and has only been serviced fairly recently anyway.

There about 12 of us on the course with a variety of cars mainly BMW, my 320d was probably the lowest powered of them all!! Following an introduction and talk about safety and the correct racing line through the corners we were allowed to give it a full blast ourselves.

  • Rover 75 CDTi or BMW 320d SE? 1 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Ok, I know I've asked similar questions in the past, but I'm still on the lookout for a 3-year old "keeper" to replace the Passat late this year/early...
  • Help - Indecision! 16 Jun 2003 (Forum)
MR2, but I'd be laughed at by my S2000 wielding mates. Celica, but it's not fast enough for what it is supposed to be. Now I'm thinking 2-3 year old BMW 323i or 328i from Great Trade Centre - still in warranty so less worry about something going wrong(?) or 3-4 year old from BMW Approved. But then I started thinking about what it might be worth in 3 years and figured £7,000 - £8,000 compared to the Type-R which might retain £10,000.
  • GM to phase out Android Auto and Apple car play 1 Apr 2023 (Forum)
The aim is to collect data (no doubt to sell to advertisers) and to sell subscriptions.  Another attempt to get a steady stream of cash from the users similar to BMW heated seats subscription.  No doubt the rest of the manufacturers will watch to see how this goes and whether they should try it too.
  • Suzuki Swift - Suzuki swift 2017 and on shvs all grip real mpg 7 Jul 2022 (Forum)
Seen on the real mpg here people getting over the 64 mpg claimed. But on most cars for sale pictures of dash say 48mpg. I'm getting 42 from my current car bmw xdrive so looking to improve mpg in next car considerably if I'm to swop (due to high fuel prices). Any other recommendations welcome. Budget max 12000

re:ACC, these systems work perfectly when designed and built well. The VW system was done on the cheap and so is very poor, the BMW system in the i3 uses a camera and so fails whenever the sun is out! Lexus first fitted ACC to its cars more than 15 years ago, and the system still works perfectly on 15 year old Lexus cars. There is a reason that German cars don’t show the same reliability.......
  • Top 10 essentials for maintaining your car at home 31 Dec 2017 (Forum)
I bought one and promptly creased up the longitudinal frame on my 1975 BMW 2002tii. The "pad" is small enough (like the one in your picture) to neatly fit between the vertical side pieces. Why don't these come with decent "soft" pads? I found the same or similar problem with the axle stands.
  • VIP Car Sales (Knutsford) 8 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I contacted Richard Gleaves in May to sell my 2015 plate BMW on my behalf, also known as a car consignment sale. After months of reducing the price, the car finally sold on 24th October.

  • Mercedes E class - £15k to spend on good exec car, but which one? 16 Jul 2014 (Forum)
Hi,  In replacing my aged E 270 (185k miles) and I have a reasonable budget of £15,000. Initially I was looking at a BMW 5 series,  but having looked around I wonder if there are better choices.  I have a teenage family and small dog, commute about 160 miles. (2.5 hours) a day. So I'm in a real quandary. 5 series?

  • Petrol Turbo Reliability? 11 Apr 2013 (Forum)
HJ advises against buying a second hand turbo diesel car on the grounds of reliability and subsequent expense. I wonder now if the same rules apply to petrol cars with a turbo? Modern BMWs and Fords now have petrol turbo engines and we normally buy two or three year old cars with modest mileages. Is it still safe to do so or does one need to shell out for a proper dealer warranty every year?
  • What 1.6 diesel to buy? 6 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Budget would be around £14000-$15000 I would like to hear peoples opinions on what type of hatchbacks are out there. I'm not considering VW, Audi, BMW, SAAB, ALFA. Thanks Like a Boss :D
  • What's going to drop? 23 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Or is its popularity able to circumvent that? There's lots and lots of eco measures too (I never thought I would see a BMW deliberately designed to have low emissions - they just seemed not to care because they'll sell anyway!) Speculation please!

  • Citroen C5 - C5 or E-Class 30 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I'm looking for a long distance motorway cruiser with decent load capacity ( ie estate ) I've looked at and considering a C5 or Mondeo (nearly new) but  not decided yet whether to spend more and go into the 5-series / E-class range. Looking at what's available now it seems to me that the gap between Ford/Citroen and BMW/Merc is much less than what it was. This brings me to the question - is it worth paying the extra? What to you get for the extra money now? A badge? or is there still a significant difference?
  • Ford Galaxy (2006 - ) - Second hand Ghia is the Xpack worth it ? 4 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Found an almost identical pair at an independent, but one is a x-pack variant, 2k less miles with a price differential of +2.5k which seems a bit wide to me. I know from experience that some vehicles (volvo/merc/bmw etc) need leather + gadgets to keep their price but are MPV's with hi-lux interiors that sought after ?
