  Hi all I just bought this car last wednesday and had it in for an MOT and service the day after .It majorly failed its MOT and the garage has quoted me £1280 just for the repairs , the mechanic said something along the lines of for the dust cover failures for his type of car he can only get the parts from renualt and has to go into the subframe to access it and also for the door handle he will have to strip it down to find the problem ( which is obvious ) however again said he can only get the parts from renault and hence why the quote is so high .

    £63.64  Premium for the year Spouse Premium £10 16 year plus premium £21.90 Total £95.54.   The Spouse Premium was a surprise, that must be new.   Mumsie has a Volvo V50 T5 AWD fitted with Bridgestone Turanzas which have been on the car for about 2 years and have covered 10,000 miles max. They are wearing well and evenly but are definitely "part worn". Today, one of these tyres failed in operation and got shredded. Question:  Can a brand new tyre - with lovely deep tread - be fitted to the car without damaging the "four wheel drive"  transmission system?

  I was a passanger in a car of a relative of mine yesterday adn they had a habit of putting the car into neutral when ever the speed or oppotunity took. On one stretch of the journey, it seemed that we covered a number of miles on a long downhill stretch in neutral, with speeds upto about 60 mph.

  Can anyone suggest an easy way to remove engIne oil without getting under the car and removing the sump plug - my car has an awkward to remove and replace acoustic cover. It takes me a couple hours to do each time! I've looked into the idea of a marine type hand operated oil suction pump but dismissed it on cost.
