  • Nissan Almera replacement 18 May 2010 (Forum)
I am seriously thinking of replacing it with something different, maybe a diesel, as I don't want yet another round of bills in the autumn. My choices would be a Citroen C3 HDI- a friend has one and says it does 65 mpg and the road tax is only £ 35- a new shape Skoda Fabia TDi, which has all the attributes of the Citroen but is possibly better made, or a Seat Ibiza, which I have owned before and was largely reliable.

  • The last golden-ish age of car choice? 13 Jun 2009 (Forum)
To think that in 1971 you could have been sitting at home pondering over the brochures trying to decide between a NEW Morris Minor - with no synchromesh on 1st gear, and a Citroen GS with aircooled flat 4, height-adjustable hydropneumatic suspension, and with the C-Matic: a manual shift but no clutch pedal... Nowadays we're scratching our chin over a Focus or a Ceed. Or possibly just tossing a coin.

  • One car two prices 13 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Yesterday I put a deposit down on a Citroen C3 1.4 SX, six months old from local Citroen Dealer. I had actually gone out to look at C1's, but they were too small: considered a new C3 Desire but having test drove the 54 reg SX on the forecourt, bought that for slightly cheaper, at £8495 before discount PX etc.
  • ZX TD Driveshaft Problems 10 Jul 2001 (Forum)
Is the autofactor I use substituting dodgy parts for what I ask for? Are they a bu**er to fit properly? Would a Citroen original be worth the extra? (more reliable) Have I been unlucky? Simon A mystified ZX fan.

  • Buying advice please 26 Nov 2022 (Forum)
I need the space. I have to carry around large rotavators and bee hives so I'm looking at Citroen Berlingo or Fiat Doblo. But it occurred to me that the Ford Galaxy might be more comfortable. Most of my journeys are less than 5 miles so I'm looking at a petrol model. My budget is £7k. A lot of the Ford Galaxies use the Ecoboost engines so should I be wary of them?
  • BMW/Mercedes/Lexus - I'm looking for a quality car under £4000 23 May 2013 (Forum)

  • C5 hydraulic leak steering/suspension. 7 Jan 2013 (Forum)
My question is - can this leak be suspension related as the manager says as I thought the steering and the suspension on the C5 were separate systems. Can anybody shed any light on this and should I take it to a Citroen dealer? Thanks in advance, Jon.
  • Mondeo/Laguna/Vectra/C5 etc - Which make and model? 1 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I like the Renault Laguna for its styling, but they are probably the most unreliable of the lot right? Then there'e the Citroen c5, which seems a bit...plain? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Gavin
  • How Reliable Is Your Car? 14 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Honda recording only a 9% failure rate with apparently the 99-03 Accord being their worst performer but even that is in the top 10 for family cars. What is surprising is that Citroen, Fiat and Peugeot, not firms renowned for reliability all ranked above BMW, VW, Volvo and Audi with Mercedes Benz languishing in 27th place. Thoughts?
  • Wheel Trims 10 Dec 2010 (Forum)
My car's a Citroen C5 with 15in wheels. The paintwork is mid-grey metallic which means I rarely have to wash the damn thing. In fact I haven't washed it for three years. The only visible indications that it might need washed are the plastic front wheel trims which have 14 fake spokes that become filthy black in no time and are nearly impossible to clean without first removing them.
  • exceptionally futile overtaking manuver 18 Dec 2009 (Forum)
As in at 13.45 today, while in a queue of 4 vehicles on a very narrow country road within 500m of the bypass, I was overtaken by a Citroen C4. The reason? I was driving into the low bright sun and had left a good clear gap between myself and the Discovery in front. This in the sure & certain knowledge that when we all reached the bypass in a few seconds, I would have to wait for the other three vehicles to get out onto the main road.

  • MPGs when idling / rolling down a hill 11 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Citroen C4 Picasso 7 seater Right, if I dip the clutch down a hill the mpg counter gives roughly say 400mpg, as you would probably expect. Strangely though if I 'engine brake' it down the same hill it goes all the way up to 999mpg.
