Skoda Yeti - Four Door Rust 18 Aug 2015 (Forum)
This is my first Skoda, having had Fords and Nissan's before, and though I love my new car, this has been, and still is, a complete nightmare. Isn't the whole point of manufacturers issuing a warranty, that they correct problems? -
Crashed Pagani Zonda, would you beleive it! 29 Mar 2010 (Forum)
We hit mud, which is constantly being dragged on to the main roads by tractors coming out of the fields.” This really resonated with me, readers may know I crashed my Nissan 200SX turbo (fraction of the power in rear wheels compared to the Zonda), in nearly exactly the same circumstances, earth movers had left mud on road as they exited a field which had turned slippery and slimey in the rain. -
Cars still made in the UK 19 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Somebody said in another forum and there are no cars made in the UK anymore. To show how wrong they are I have complied this list from the top of my head. Nissan - Sunderland- One of the largest factories in the europe and ofren described as the most efficient car factory in thr world. Could in theory start makign Renaults. Toyota - Derbyshire - Tend to make mid size cars Ford - Southampton - Make Ford Transits Ford - Dagenham - Make diesel engines, used to make the Fiesta until 2002. -
Badge engineering 29 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Motoring writers blow the gaff now and again, but its obiously not common knowledge outside the trade, and Ive seen peoples jaw drop when they find out they are actually driving a Golf with another name. I saw a Nissan van the other day that looked just like a Renault, my mate next to me said , thats cos it is!!! I hear in Australia if you buy a Ford its actually a Mazda, the only Ford bit is the badge. Please let me know, I reckon theres enough here for a book, maybe called, "So you thought you were driving a ?????. -
Toyota Yaris II/Vitz (2006 - ) - Headlights did not switch off automatically! 14 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have not been particularly assiduous since this, it is just the fact every car I have ever owned since, from my Mark III 1981 Ford Escort, Peugeot 405, Nissan Primera, Ford Galaxy etc has always turned off the headlights once the car was switched off. My current VW Touran and MINI both monitor any power drain on the battery and switch off headlights, side lights and interior lights if they are left on by mistake. -
Dodgy VW Passat service-power loss 25 May 2007 (Forum)
I've now got a slow donkey of a car with no acceleration that needs to be revved hard to just produce even an average rate of acceleration that my old 1300 Nissan Sunny would comfortably match. I noticed I have to change gears a lot more than before just to maintain a reasonable level of momentum. [and obviously I want to keep the revs at a minimum until the cam belt is changed]. -
Estate help 14 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Ideally I'd go for a Japanese car but they don't really come in my price bracket. Though out of desperation I have driven a n inexpensive old-style 113bhp Nissan X-Trail (not the new 136bhp) and loved it - if I could be persuaded of its reliability and reasonable costs. Despite my eco-concerns with a 4x4 one would be pretty handy as I spend many weekends in the year parking on wet and muddy fields at dog shows - though I've only been REALLY worried in my Clio once or twice. -
Garages and work authorisation. 15 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi, My sister's boyfriend's car recently expired on the motorway, which turned out to be a snapped timing chain. The car, a Nissan micra 1.0 16v on an N plate is not really worth much. So he took it to a garage just for a quote, the garage said they'd take a look and get back to him. So they phoned him up a few days later and said they'd taken the head off and couldn't see much damage so the major problem would be on the bottom end and they'd have to take the engine out to see what was wrong. -
Primera 1.6Si R reg (P11?) - service 22 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I can't get the wheel off as I don't have a security socket for the wheels. Would I get one from the Nissan Dealer if I took proof of ownership and identity along? Quite a lot of rust has appeared on bolts and screws and the like and a little on the engine. Would the oil flush and change assist in inhibiting corrosion? -
Crimewatch 27 Jan 2004 (Forum)
As he did so he was knocked down by another car and killed. The driver didn?t stop. The vehicle left behind a wing mirror ? thought to be from a blue Nissan Urvan. Also left at the scene were glass from the headlight and indicator and a small amount of the trim. Incident Room for Thames Valley Police: 01993 886535 Joe Cave and his girlfriend were travelling on a motorbike on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 between Junction 6 at Godstone and the Clacket Lane area at approximately 5.05pm on Friday 27th June 2003. -

Any economists out there?! 26 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Any advice on whether it worth spending 9k on a premium type car or stick to 6k on a mainstream 3yr old car (still buys a decent top Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan) and see what happens. I think the germans are going to come under increased pricing pressure as the gap opens up and marketing and image are not enough to justify £20k plus price tags. Sorry about the thesis! -
The best first wheels 23 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Not particularly exciting to drive but look after it and it’ll run and run. A great cheap runabout. Nissan Micra 1.2 K12 - One of the last reliable Nissan’s. Simple and robust yet cute and good to drive these are also cheap as chips now. The 1.0 is ok but the 1.2 is better. Unappealing to the boy racer brigade so few are abused. -
Most impressed by 17 Apr 2020 (Forum)
Cars I’d happily own and rate highly particularly for the way they drive in most cases which isn’t about outright speed or grip but they way they feel on the road. Nissan Skyline GTR - rare that I like such performance metal but these are actually quite civilised and despite all the tech it feels alive under you. A joy to drive fast but quite capable of a quiet run to the shops. -
Find My Daughter an Auto - part 2 12 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Suzuki SX4 - Torque Converter (T/C) - although tax is quite high at £280 on the autos Suzuki Swift - T/C from what I can find Kia Rio / i20 - T/C Yaris CVT / Verso CVT - not MMT version Mazda 2 - T/C Maybe a Meriva / Astra but not with the Easytronic box -I believe if it isn't Easytronic it is T/C? A Fiesta / Focus / Fusion pre Powershift when they used T/C boxes I think a Nissan Note had a T/C box before it got the self destruct CVT from around 2011? ..so a big thanks for all the advice around these. Can anyone suggest anything else? Needs to be reliable as she works unsocial hours so favouring Torque Converter or CVT or reliable DCT(if they exist). -
Any - CVT experience 15 May 2019 (Forum)
My own car has DSG and I have never driven a TC but I’m driving a CVT for the first time. It’s a hire car, a Nissan Pathfinder, a model we don’t get in the UK, but essentially it’s a big old barge of an SUV with a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine rated at 285 bhp. You’d think it would go like the proverbial brown stuff off a hot shovel, but no - this thing will not be hurried and is no competitor in the traffic lights Grand Prix, not that it is a thing here in the US. -
Which new car to buy? 2 Apr 2019 (Forum)
I haven't sat in a Jazz for a couple of years but I felt it was very narrow which made me feel cramped. Will try again to see if it has improved. There are the Fiat 500L and Nissan Juke but to be honest I think both of them are really ugly and wouldn't want to have one. Can anyone suggest something else which might suit me? Thanks in advance. -
Sold Note to Evans Halshaw 8 May 2018 (Forum)
Having read vey few good reports about WBAC I took a commitee decision and made an appointment at the local Evans Halshaw emporium (they do Nissan and Citroen on the site but we had to go to the Citroen showroom). Young lady inspected the car, sent details to head office via the ether and said to wait about 20 minutes whilst she got a reply. -
Need help in deciding a Crossover vehicle 15 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Hyundai ix35 (1.7 engine might be under powered for my daily driving) 4. Kia Sportage (1.7 engine might be under powered for my daily driving) 5. Nissan Qashqai / Renault Kadjar (1.5 engine might be under powered for my daily driving and the rear passenger space is very crammed) In general I like Symmetrical vehicles so I'm not considering vehicles like Ford Kuga, Skoda Yeti, Citroen C4 Cactus, Honda CR-V, BMW X1 which are a bit odd shaped. -
LPG - Don't bother 22 Apr 2014 (Forum)
To any of you contemplating fitting LPG , bear in mind my recent experience ; I sold a Nissan Patrol 4.2 6 - pot to a friend and business colleague years ago, and had it converted for him to LPG with a big tank that replaced the 3rd row of seats . He's busier than me and knows little about cars , so I get to arrange servicing / repairs .
