What fuel consumption gaffs/efforts have you made 1 Apr 2008 (Forum)
(sold after 87,000 miles after losing me a fortune in mileage claims) 4) Its replacement, the 1.6 petrol auto Maestro that eventually got down to 23mpg on long runs as its main jet wore due to the rubbing needle. Sold in desperation as it needed leaded petrol too. 5) The saviour of my finances, in the early 90`s recession, the new Maestro Clubman D, that could get 60MPG, drew max car allowance and ran for 130,000 miles. Boring after that as i had learnt a lesson, but for some reason as the years went on and fuel consumption became less of an issue for the pocket, it became an issue for the mind.... -

RFL is 200 a year thats £16 a month, so say £60 a month for them two. so got £300 a month, thats about £6000 finance over two years. so the only choices to me are (and company stipulate it has to be under 4 years old and 60K miles or less) peugeot 407 saloon/hatch/estate hdi -£7K honda accord 2.2 cdti. -£6500 would love bmw 330d - 4 door m sport - but £12K ! -
Peugeot 607 - sanity check? 19 Dec 2006 (Forum)
With the current '00 1.8 petrol Vectra just short of 100k, I am planning my shortlist for a replacement - which finances depending - should occur around 2008ish and 130k on the clock. One of the cars on my future shortlist will probably be another Vectra (2.2 SRi diesel) but I have become rather intrigued by the 607 (the twin turbo 2.2 Hdi). -
BMW Auction Report.. 18 Oct 2006 (Forum)
But the one thing that WAS apparent, out of the entry, all from the brand, directly, either their group stock, or leased/financed vehicles, was that more than 60 were repossessions!!! Not only that, plenty had 2/3/4 PREVIOUS owners & incomplete histories. A sure sign of the hard to keep up with, cost of running a premium motor - or maybe the difficulties, many people might be heading for, when £$£$£ gets a bit tight! -
New Tyre Time Again.... 22 Jun 2006 (Forum)
But having to replace them after such short mileage makes me look like I must drive like a lunatic to our finance director and I am looking for a compromise. I have read a few times in the Honest John section of the newspaper that Michelin Primacy are good and have the added advantage of being quiet. Did I read this correctly? -
Negotiating for an Accord 22 Apr 2005 (Forum)
After six weeks on the forecourt, I'm hoping they will cut a nice deal for completion in April, either a 100% cash deal or part-finance if they can beat the 5.75% APR I would pay by extending my house mortgage. Would anyone like to suggest what a suitable 'price to change' might be? This is assuming I like the car. I am expecting to. -
Dealer Used Car Problem - Help Required! 3 Feb 2004 (Forum)
We've gone back to the dealer in question, who has a) asked us to get a settlement figure for the finance, and b) has said he's looking into it, and will get back soon with an alternative car (but he never does). Essentially what we now want is our money back or a different car offered (possibly a cheaper clio) and the rest of the money refunded to us. -
PCP terminated 7 months ago without my knowledge 27 Jan 2022 (Forum)
Hi there, I've just had a nasty shock. I was checking my credit score today and I noticed that my car finance agreement was missing from my credit report. So I phoned VWFS and their phone representative informed me that my agreement with them was terminated in June 2021 - that's SEVEN MONTHS ago! And all this time I have been happily driving my lovely car, and paying for it regularly too. -

Why are modern cars, like my wife's Volkswagen Touran, so complicated? 3 Apr 2011 (Ask HJ)

VW - Can you trust Volkswagen dealers - a warning 30 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Had I been aware that I may be buying an ex-rental car I would purchased a Golf at a much cheaper price from "Arthur Daley" down the road, therefore, saving my paying a premium price at a VW dealership. I made a complaint to VW finance, as I purchased the car on their finance package. I also complained to the Trading Standards and the Financial Ombudsman. After the threat of legal action the dealer accepted to have the car returned, and the finance HP agreement cancelled. -

Drivethedeal. 29 Nov 2020 (Forum)
I couldn't check a new Jazz on their site for obvious reasons but was able to look up a new Fabia - a much lower retail price than a Jazz and about £3,400 off list (if you used one of their finance or PCP arrangements ...and we know that can be got around without a problem). Whereas I couldn't see the Jazz available on other broker type sites at anything like that level of discount hence if you were looking to buy either a Jazz or a Fabia the Fabia looks substantially cheaper. -
