  • Peugeot Citroen in trouble 1 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Since then, the French Government stepped in with financial aid for Peugeot's own bank, ensuring it could still offer competitive finance to new car buyers. The deal now hinges on GM. Sources say GM bosses need assurances that they would be able to cut plants and jobs “at reasonable cost.”   Widespread cuts in France, which would be almost certain under GM control, would be fiercely resisted by President Hollande's government.

  • Leo the Leaf replacement 23 May 2025 (Forum)
Car is mint, approved used and as part of VW’s used car event it comes with two years VW warranty, breakdown cover, a £250 finance contribution and free servicing. If you take a PCP, which I have and will pay off immediately. Managed to bag it for £1000 less than our local dealer for the same thing too. Arnold Clark had one almost identical that was a year older for the same money and a measly 90 day warranty - I honestly don’t know why people buy cars from them.
  • Second hand van advice 20 Sep 2024 (Forum)
Hi folks,  I've just been trawling the internet looking for places to get some advice on buying a second hand van and thought Honest John could be the place :) I'm basically looking to buy a L3H2 second hand van for removals/courier work and just wanted to run my thinking past people who knew a lot more about them. I've narrowed it down to spending around 12k + vat (I'll be financing), from a reputable dealer who offer some kind of warranty and/or RAC check, and looking at vans 2017/18, ply lined, ulez compliant, 70,000 - 90,000 miles. With fairly decent tidy bodywork but don't mind the odd ding.

  • FPN court summons for driving with No insurance !! 14 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Hi there, I'm new to this forum and I'm searching for info regrading my dilemma but there's hardly any info regarding this on the web. On 30/09/2019 my cousin financed a new Audi A3. it was his first automatic car and he asked me to show him the ropes so he insured me on it temporarily  ( for a one month period ) at approximatively 9AM . The car was delivered  at 5PM with a complementary one week insurance on his name.
  • Buying a new car - Needing your advice: Is this legal and honourable? 3 Jul 2019 (Forum)
He said that the interest cost would be negligable and that in doing so, I could save can extra circa £950 - or thereabouts off the new price of the car. This would be with the recognised finance brokers  for the manufacturer. Furthermore, he said that many of his customers had done just this. What do you think: on first appearance, it does appear to be a good idea but we all know the maxim "if is seems to be too good a thing etc etc.
  • Dacia Sandero - End of PCP - Advice? 13 Jun 2019 (Forum)
PCP suits my son because of the known budget outlay, the lack of risk of big bills, the reliability, etc.  The car has been excellent. He is considering financing the balloon payment and hanging onto the car for the time being (perhaps until the warranty expires) which removes the time pressure. Then he can take his time to find a suitable replacement and reasonable deal.
  • Any - After market warranties. 6 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Additionally, the garage where I bought the car has given me 12 months parts and labour warranty up to a limit of 500 quid per claim. Our finances are tight and the only bit of slack I could find in order to absorb other expenses was that after market warranty. So I’ve cancelled it,  but somehow and despite having the other warranties it feels like I’ve just put my comfort blanket in the bin.
  • Citroen C4 BlueHDi100 - Potential power steering fault 14 Feb 2017 (Forum)
I have recently bought a C4 BlueHDI100 new from a Citroen dealer simply because it was well equipped, comfortable and had exceedingly cheap finance after all the discounts (what can I say, cheapskate). After having a Peugeot, Citroen and Renault before I've never really had problems. The car has covered 2200 miles in about 1.5 months from new.

I've been looking at the Consumer's right act 2015, so I can request for full refund but I worry that I will be out of pocket because the first half is deposit and the latter is finance. I worry if the car dealer will fob me off as I need a car to commute to work. Please help, Im at my wits end.

  • Jaguar XJ8 - HPI shows different model (Executive / Sovereign) 6 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I've just done an HPI check and it seems to check out all fine: JAGUAR PETROL AUTO - 5 GEAR 4-DOOR SALOON BLACK  NO OUTSTANDING FINANCE NO COLOUR CHANGES NO IMPORT/EXPORT NO PLATE CHANGES NEVER BEEN SCRAPPED  The only thing that's bugging me is that I was under the impression it was an Executive model.
